The definition of a 6 pointer this one is, probably game of the weekend aswell. Although 3-0 massively flattered Plymouth on the opening day I'm not sure any Crewe fan would have thought we would be in the position we are now for the return game.

Were in great form, players are returning from injury and there is great completion for a place on the team with the players who wouldn't usually be in our first team putting in outstanding performances like Jones, Ainley and Offord.

I'd take a draw here and I think that what we will get, possibly high scoring and entertaing though.

Plymouth 2-2 Crewe (Hardie, Moore, Porter, Kirk) 10,855 (310 Crewe)

If the weather forecast is right, not a chance this game will get played.

Let's just admire the L2 Post of the Season in the minutes after that home game against Plymouth. Remains an absolute stonker.

LOL.

I hope it's off. Would really like to go but can't. If it can be squeezed into a Tuesday I'm not working, that'd be brilliant. Maybe in April when it'll be even mass-ifer.

If it goes ahead I fully expect us to lose because, even though we're top of the form table and from afar cruising, it's felt like a bit of a slog since Christmas. Going somewhere like Plymouth and putting in a 45 minutes like we are prone to doing at the moment (see Walsall 1st half) is recipe for a pasting. Hopefully with injuries clearing up we'll turn it on and have Plymouth chasing shadows. I'd take a draw though, just not letting them close the gap we've now got over 4th would be fine.

Plymouth arent very good though. Think the 3-0 was just a blip, fancy Crewe to put at least 2 past the GAWS.

Not very good? The form table and league table says differently fella. Its a bit "if" but if this game does go ahead, hopefully the adverse conditions put Crewe off of their game a bit more than it does us. Would settle for a point but hoping we can pinch it 2-1

If it is going to lash it down, I'd rather it be off. We are dire in bad weather, which sounds pathetic but it's true.

However, doing that causes big problems. Unless they somehow manage to squeeze it in after the Macc game, the realistically earliest possible date to re-arrange would be the 10th March. That would mean 3 straight Tuesday trips to Exeter, Plymouth and Colchester. That is not a fun prospect. Going to have to get promoted the hard way that's for sure.

If it does go ahead, I think we'll lose. We'll have a good go, but I think we'll come up short. Lowe knows how to beat us and yes, we've been dealing with the lesser teams, but a fellow promotion contender away from home has been death for us all season. 0-2-4 against other sides in the top half on the road, including 3-1 to Salford, 4-1 to Northampton and 3-1 to Swindon. At least we can lose and stay in the top 3. Wouldn't be a disaster, would just mean we'd need 6 points from Macc and Morecambe.

Win however and I don't think it punches our top 3 ticket, but it does go a hell of a long way towards securing it. Draw would be excellent as well.

Am I missing something, why would it be off? If the issue is simply rain or wind it will be on. In fact, we will almost certainly have the sprinklers going before the game. For rain alone to call it off Noah and his ark would have to be docking in Home Park and nine tenths of the country would be under water. If there is a white out or damage to the stadium, then yes it might get well get called off.

Its not only the pitch which can cause potential postponements. Conditions outside the ground may have an effect also, see Man City the other week.

If the weather forecast is correct (60mph gusts according to the BBC) then how can the game be played? That's enough to take people off their feet (elderly, disabled etc). So the pitch may be fine, but the wind will be the concern. Hope the forecast is wrong.

Can't see the game being on with with nds that strong. I will be gutted for the many Crewe fans that are travelling down for the weekend.

Common sense if it becomes apparent this storm is going to be as per Sunday's one that the clubs would be allowed to call it off Friday before fans and teams who are over nighting travel as it would be for safety rather than pitch issues.

Forecast will become clearer by Friday. Bought my train tickets for this weeks ago so I hope it goes ahead.

As for our record away at the better sides as JJ pointed out.

Newport - Game we should've easily won. No end product and got sucker punched by a side not even interesting in attacking for the vast majority of the game.
Cheltenham - Convinced we'd have won if Ng didn't get sent off.
Northampton - Mbulu and Hunt nightmare in the first half hour.
FGR - We dominated the game. Wasteful finishing and excellent defending from them denied us the win.
Salford - Mbulu dreadful first half cost us.
Swindon - Good value for a point till Hunt went off injured. Wintle at CB and inexperienced Johnson caused us to implode.

I fear no one in this league, and with a settled in-form defence, we stand in good stead to get points on the road. However, I fancy Plymouth to win this. Lowe will probably give each player £500 again for beating us like the reverse fixture. Still glad we never appointed him when he wanted the job, he's not the sort of character I want to be in charge of us.

Never mind his character, he wouldn’t have done half the job Artell (and Lunt) have done. Well, not without seeing us liquidated.

Eh? Whatever the result someone drops points. Although, for purely selfish reasons, I’d prefer a Crewe win so we have the opportunity to draw further away from 4th, my heart says a Plymouth win to aid us in winning the league.

A draw it is, then.!

We really haven’t done well in any of the games against the top sides in this division as far as I can tell, we also don’t seem to well in ‘big’ hyped games.

if Crewe’s defence is settled and in-form then that’ll be a major factor as ours is the opposite, especially with our captain Sawyer suspended, we’ll almost certainly concede and possibly concede a few, we only beat Salford by going for the old ‘we’ll score 1 more than you’ philosophy, which won’t work against a well organised defence.

It’s got the potential to be an exciting game of football, but I feel we’re far too vulnerable at the back at the moment and a draw would be considered a good result. I’m surprised the Crewe fans on here seem as downbeat about this as they are given they’re top of the form table and the only side to beat them since Christmas is Swindon, either that or they’re just playing themselves down

I will be keeping a keen eye on this one. I reckon it will be a decent game. Praying for a draw, but will also be just fine with a convincing Crewe win. Is it expected to be a sell out ?

Weather update - very windy and heavy sideways rain all night.

Massive thunderstorm at 2am as well which managed to set my car alarm off.

Hopefully it eases up.

Won't be a sell out if it's on but would be good to see 13 or 14k. In the weather that might be ambitious.

Yeah the weather will effect the crowd no doubt and with the small number of visitors attending, im hoping for 12k plus on Saturday.

Interesting tactics from Lowe, the boys were learning how to fire weapons and hoses on a warship today. We’ll be bringing the big guns on Saturday!

The irony of someone posting from a hideously unfunny parody account calling anything embarrassing is kind of amazing.
