Gutted I cant make this one - Birthday weekend an’all.

Anyway, injuries and suspensions have had a knock-on effect. Lost at Bury, drew against Oldham and lost to Charlton - prior to that, we were banging in goals for fun without much effort. Barring our starting XI, there really isn’t much quality... investing in youth and having them as back-up isn’t working at present.

Word on the road is that McMahon could be back - massive boost if true. Vincelot comes back from suspension, but we lose Knight-Percival, also from suspension [sigh]. Chicksen is out, with doubts over Taylor and anyone else I might’ve missed.

GK: Colin Doyle

RB: Tony McMahon
CB: Adam Thompson
CB: Matthew Killgallon
LB: Tom Field

RCM: Romain Vincelot
DCM: Jake Reeves
LCM: Nicky Law

RW: Alex Gilliead/Alex Jones
CF: Charlie Wyke
LW: Dominic Poleon

If we were in decent form, we would’ve sold out a couple of weeks ago, but, it’ll be a plausible City following of around 1,300 in attendance.

Fancy us to bounce back in tough conditions - 1-0 CITY (Wyke).

Looking forward to this despite the probability we will get beat.

Reckon Stu won’t risk McMahon unless he’s close to 100% so 3 of the first choice back 4 could be missing. Have no idea what’s going on with Taylor and Poleon thanks to our amazing local reporting so looks like Wyke and Jones or Patrick up front. Would go with Jones personally as he’s scored goals in the joke cup and also I’m not convinced by Patrick at all. Big plus is Vincelot is back and that’s the only thing giving me hope.

Any recommendations for boozing after the game?

Pitman was back last weekend, albeit off the bench which is fantastic news. Questions marks over our only goalie after picking up an injury last weekend. We either have 19 year old Alex Bass who hasn't played a league game or a loan goalie, but we are leaving it late to decide. We've been very economical at home this season with Pitman having an exceptional goal to shot rate. We are still a few players short of being really competitive in this league, especially in midfield as we are very power puff in there.

Likely lineup

Goalie?
Thompson Burgess Clarke Donahue
Close O'Keefe
Lowe Pitman Kennedy
Hawkins

We've lost our last two league games so I fully expect a win due to our form being WLWLWWLL.

Agree with the above City comments over selection/form, I’d like to see us go with Alex Jones as part of a front three but whether McCall agrees is another matter entirely.
I’m going down for this one so given my away record we won’t win, prediction 1-1.

Looks like McGee was training today, so at least that gives us a little bit more consistancy in terms of back 5. We shall see what Pompey side turns up!!

Only a couple of weeks ago I'd have been confident of a win, not now. Injuries are a killer atm, go for a 2-2 with us to concede late on. Agree with Firthy's team selection if injuries allow.

Our journos tweeted that McMahon and Taylor are close to fitness, would be a boost if they are involved.

Both teams could really do with a win. May come down to whoever scores first as each team is low on confidence and likely to fold if they go behind. We need Pitman back in that starting line-up.

To be fair if we score first at FP I don't expect many sides will come back to win to be honest

Looks like it could be

McGee
Thompson Burvess Clarke Donahue
Close O'Keefe
Lowe Bennett Kennedy
Pitman

Shame as Hawkins has done well at home and we do tend to play long balls quite alot which doesn't play to pitmans strengths at all.

Wow we needed that!

If I'm being honest Pompey were the better team, they'll feel robbed. But that's happened to us countless times over the last 18 months, can't remember us doing it to teams to many times and it feels good. Did a job on them, wasted time when needed and took it late on from a set piece. After our luck in the last 3 games or so though, we deserve a break.

I'm not going to say we were poor, because that's a disservice to Pompey as they didn't let us play and settle. Great 3 points and the FA Cup break comes at a good time to get players back and go again with big fixtures coming up in November.

Oh my, we shouldn't have lost that. Better team by far in the second half, despite the goal. Can see why Bradford are up there though - that was one of those results that promotion teams often get. But considering how we matched them there's reasons to be positive I guess..

Kyle Bennett could do with getting some feet and coordination skills that aren't more akin to an 80 year old's though

He looked far better than I remember, except the end product part.

Exact role reversal of us last week against Charlton, Doyle pulls out a few good saves and we score one of our only real chances.
