Well, yeah. But it wasn’t. The game was called off because of the failure of Macclesfield FC. It’s the same bollocks that covers the Bolton fiasco.

Some clubs have had a gimme 3 points and a racking up of their goal difference. Others have had to play a hugely more competitive side.

It’s down to fairness.

It's different though as nobody has had a gimme 3 points off Macclesfield, they're actually a decent team when they're not on strike. From Crewe's perspective this is no different to any other reason for a game being postponed, the reasons are between Macclesfield and the EFL and nothing to do with Crewe

Yeah but the same is true if the match was postponed for any other reason such as weather, international call-ups, FA cup etc.
Or forgetting to turn off sprinklers in Winter etc.....

You didn't go to the cup games then :)

I went to the home leg and you were average then. Basing this on what I have seen in 90 mins and on the day in the league you were garbage. Clearly an off day though as the table doesn't lie.

If you are to go up you need to replace your goalkeeper. He's utter bobbins.

We have a decent keeper. He is injured. Most of the fans are hoping Maxted doesn't play tonight, as he cost us getting through in the first game.

No surprise there. I noticed he cost you another goal on Saturday too.

Obviously I very much feel for Dave Artell here, as the first manager ever to face a game being postponed we're breaking new ground this week and whatever happens to Crewe in the aftermath of the day that shocked football will be totally without precedent. Dave is simply looking to work with the relevant authorities to present a forward thinking solution that hopefully can be applied in future should any match ever be postponed again (unlikely as that may seem).
You can be flippant all you like. The fact is, it wasn't postponed. This wasn't a frozen or waterlogged pitch, it wasn't floodlight failure etc etc. It was the Macc players refusing to play. As he rightly said, they could have played. I understand why they didn't, but the fact is, they refused. So yes, we are on new ground here.

Nah, I don't think I agree with SVH. That 4-0 scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the game and we were massively aided by the Exeter players dropping their heads as soon as the second goal went in, which was around the 60th min iirc. They were decent right up til that point but then just seemingly gave up for no reason at all, 'cos very few games are over at 2-0. I would've been livid if was their manager.

Re. the whole Macc players refusing to play thing, the most important thing to me is that (so far) their situation is totally different to Bolton's. The only time Macc have named a matchday squad full of 16 year olds was in the FA cup and so far they haven't done this for a league game unlike Bolton.

But tbh, I do get what Artell's saying, and he's right isn't he?

The Bolton, Burt, Macc situation as a whole is a mess and this season has been turned into a farce.

League One is a team down added to that about a third of the league got a free hit at a load of kids whereas the rest play an experienced Bolton side.

League Two could potentially end up with no relegation.

This is a bigger problem that’s been brewing for a while and only just seeing the shit fully hit the fan. Rogue Owners (how lucky we are not to be gone ourselves) but look at the list of clubs with issues, crazy finances... we played Bolton in League One... crazy they had players said to be on 19k a week (Wheater) which was almost as much as our starting XI.

The gulf financially between the second and third tier is a huge problem because many big teams struggle at that level the past decade or so and they come down on monster wages well above the level the teams end up at. You’ve then got teams like Bury throwing cash at it to get up.. failing and ending up in huge debts... the issue for me with Bury was they’ve seemed to have a cycle where they splash big bucks... get the buckets out... and then do it again!

I would imagine from next season punishments and regulations will be much tougher as the EFL can’t afford another mess like this season has turned out to be. McAnthony had some good suggestions in his blog and assume the clubs will demand reform to prevent this mess.

Sympathy is with the fans but the clubs themselves are afforded less as shown by the rest of the EFL clubs view on re admitting Bury.

Tight as a mouses waistcoat in the playoff positions. A big win today against FGR and another promotion contender beaten at Sixfields.

Mansfield away and Crawley away are the next 2 so expecting two tough but winnable games

We've been poor for a few weeks now but have actually moved up into the automatic places.

I like too think that this is our bad run (although we're not losing League games) and that when we get Varney and Hussey back in the starting lineup we'll start winning games again. This could very well be an exciting season at Whaddon Road.

Got to be honest, if it’s Worrall then he’s pretty good at this level but says a lot if he carry’s Vale that much.

Woz is just accurate, more than any other crosser in the league and that’s been missing the past couple of games.

Plus his fitness is ridiculous, missed his energy. That said we did comfortably see off Cheltenham without him but against the lower sides who are harder to break down we’ve not had that accuracy on balls into Pope.

Our game v you on the 29th will be interesting, we’ll be gunning for our 7th straight home win

Poor once again from us yesterday, Bowyer is king at killing any attacking threat we have. Played rubbish all season yet have picked up points, playing rubbish still but now the points are drying up, certainly when we play away at least.

Solid if unspectacular 2-0 win at home to Oldham who apparently were very good value first half and our goal right on half time probably knocked the wind out of their sails.

The usual Doyle goal near the end icing on the cake. 7 wins in a row now but our next 6 games are much harder - FGR (a), Cambridge (h), Vale (a), Plymouth (h), Bradford (h), Crewe (h).

(I'll probably try and get to the Crewe game). If we can get through those matches and are still on top I'll be confident going forwards.

Four home league wins on the trot. We are a totally different side at HP - I really can't fathom how the 'home advantage' plays such a large part in football.

Anyone got any explanations or link to any professional studies on the subject?

Never totally got it either in general but assume its because your used to the pitch and naturally away teams are more cautious.

It is weird. We are usually mundane, performance wise, at home. Play some great stuff away.
