Mansfield fans what’s the story on white according to a good source on our twitter white and Pearce are supposed to be coming to us The source gets more right than wrong id be well pleased with Pearce and a fit white

Don't know anything about the stories. Both are strong and quick defenders. White plays wing back and did have real pace. He seemed to struggle with muscle strains and what not last year after breaking something the season before. He needs a strong preseason and a watchful eye from the physiotherapist, but once back to full fitness would be a good signing for any side in the division in my opinion.

Gobsmacked to learn we’ve only let 5 youth teamers go. Offered new contracts to all our OOC players.

Wow, that is a gamble if you have to pay them for a year or more with no income coming in.

Might've been offered pay cuts and longer term security to stay on for all we know though. I don't think they've been offered a cut in salary myself, but you can't rule that particular possibility out...

Just what I thought - especially so with all the shit that’s flying around at the moment. There have been rumours of Salford sniffing around Doyle and, tbh, I wouldn’t moan too much if he left.

Mark Cullen set to be the first of our players offered deals last week to sign. Would be happy with that as he was starting to get fitter finally and he’s actual goal to minutes ratio apparently is second only to Doyle I’ve read. 8 goals in 12 starts... if we can just keep him fit though...

Ours have been announced;

Good riddance to:

- Kelvin Mellor
- Jake Reeves
- Shay McCartan
- Jordan Gibson
- Jermaine Anderson
- Hope Akpan
- Adam Henley
- Daniel Devine
- Joe Riley
- George Sykes-Kenworthy

Contracted:

- Jackson Longridge
- Paudie O’Connor
- Ben Richards-Everton
- Anthony O’Connor
- Harry Pritchard
- Lee Novak
- James Vaughan
- Sam Hornby
- Tyler French
- Connor Wood
- Kurtis Guthrie
- Reece Staunton

Talks are ongoing with goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell, while one-year extensions in the contracts of Clayton Donaldson and Zeli Ismail will be automatically activated.

A lot of the deadwood from previous seasons have been shipped out. This gives McCall a decent platform to build from. He’s renowned for favouring quality over quantity - we’ll see.

Loanees Glenn Middleton and Luke McGee will return to parent clubs Rangers and Portsmouth respectively.

Callum Cooke, Jamie Devitt and Dylan Connolly returned to their parent clubs, last month, following the expiration of their loan agreements.

Chris Taylor and Dylan Mottley-Henry were also recently released, following short spells in claret and amber.

Still so much deadwood in the squad but a good chunk of low quality per ridiculously high wages have gone. Glad O’Donnell has been offered something, probably the only one I’d like to keep.

might be someone we look at then given he trained with us in October/November
I’d be surprised if you couldn’t do a lot better (as a L2 team), but given the connection and experience he brings, there’s that chance. I think he’d be fortunate to get a league team as I say.

McCartan should pick up another L2 team fairly easily.

Would take Bostwick, always looked decent against us down the years. Mind you we have Legge and possibly Brisley as the veterans if Smith goes. Maybe need someone younger!

Will Boyle, Connor Thomas and Alex Addai have all signed new deals. Boyle and Thomas signed theirs in February but it wasn't announced for some reason. Addai triggered an extension which he's agreed.

No other new in terms of players until we know where we are playing next season.

Bozzie will still be playing L1 or L2 football for another 4 or 5 years I think. Absolute warrior. As long as there's still a ball to head or kick, he'll be there. Never had pace so he's not going to lose that!

We'd have kept him (and Eardley) under normal circumstances.

Luke Joyce one year extension now official. Delighted been a quality player under Askey who’s work often goes unnoticed.

Leyton Orient
Ours was announced yesterday:

https://www.leytonorient.com/2020/06/02/leyton-orient-retained-list-2020-21-season/

I've added my own thoughts as well.

Released

Arthur Janata - 3rd choice keeper who never broke through.

Dale Gorman - Played his part in our title winning side, but we need better than him. Will end up League Two or NL.

James Alabi - Should've gone last summer, will end up back in the NL Somewhere

Matt Harrold - Happy he was kept on for one more year as backup, was always expected to be released at 36.

Retained (Contract Negotiations Ongoing)

Marvin Ekpiteta - 23 and slowly improving in League Two, we've been trying to tie him down for the last year but his agent appears to have turned his head. If this was a normal close season I'd expect him to go. Not so sure now with COVID crisis, could go either way.

Jobi McAnuff - 39 next season, a huge leader but only played 1 game all last season due to injury, which was ironically the last game we played before lockdown. Would be happy if he is kept on as player/coach.

Ruel Sotiriou - A very exciting young forward player who since Christmas has taken his chance scoring 5 goals, only 20 as well. We need to keep him, but rumours that Peterborough are looking at him. If he stays with us, he will get game time.

Shadrach Ogie - Another very exciting young defender who can play left back or centre back, did well in his loan at Dover. Hope he stays.

Retained (Remain in Contract)

Sam Sargeant

Lawrence Vigouroux

Sam Ling

Joe Widdowson

Josh Coulson

Myles Judd

Dan Happe - Expecting him to be sold.

Jamie Turley

Jayden Sweeney

Craig Clay

Jordan Maguire-Drew

James Dayton - The only decision that has suprised me as I thought he was on a pay as you play deal due to his injury record. Personally, I'd have released him because he doesn't complete 90mins in games and is injury prone, despite his obvious talent.

James Brophy

Hector Kyprianou

Brendon Shabani

Josh Wright

Conor Wilkinson

Louis Dennis

Lee Angol

Danny Johnson

Returning To Parent Club (Loan Finished)

George Marsh

Ouss Cisse

Kaziah Sterling

All those under contract next season, are out of contract next summer as far as I'm aware. In 12 months time there is going to be a huge rebuilding job here if we have a bad season.

Would gladly take Bostwick. However, we have 3 senior centre halves still contracted, plus a couple of youngsters, so probably the last area in the team Stuart McCall will be looking at

The only news from Crawley so far is that David Sesay, Anthony Nathaniel-George and Josh Doherty have had their contract options taken up and are signed for another year.

I thought Sesay dropped of half way through the season but is worth a deal.

Let's just say my view and the clubs differ on Josh...he does often get into the team of the week sides so there is a chance I could wrong.

I can't make up my mind about ANG. He is too light for league football. He doesn't show for the ball enough, he doesn't tackle back. He has just made an assist or scored a goal! I suppose he's a winger and they are frustrating so and sos.

Salford's scouting looks absolutely abysmal. Seems to be based on players who have impressed on national TV in the last few years and anyone who has played for Fleetwood that they don't want.
I think Sarcevic did pretty well this season. Bet he is fans player of the year. Don’t blame him if he goes there, more money and closer to home.

Montano, Brisley and Cullen all agreed, Brisley formally.

Pleasing progress, those three would be a boost,

Amoo Conlon Browne and Smith still to agree. Amoo is a big one for me as he’s quality.

I'm very good friends with someone who is Lukes direct family, he loves playing for Vale, he's a great profesional and very dedicated player.
Very good/solid player imo, would walk into our cm right now but there again that's not hard.

Joyce is a very limited footballer but a good one. When you’re shit you realise and appreciate how effective he is, when you’re a good team pushing at the top end of the table his limitations can be frustrating.

We've seen the best of him this season when we are at the top end, but we've put him in there to pull the strings and two energetic players along side him which has worked really well, our improvement this season is likely down to actually improving that central midfield which had handicapped us since relegation. With 2 of Conlon/Manny/Taylor or Burgess he has been able to sit and pull the strings superbly.

Jimmy Smith released by Crawley. Club captain but he was on loan at Yeovil for most of the season.

He signed a two year deal, picked up a bad injury and only played a couple of times over the two year period. I would direct you to Yeovil to discuss how good he is now but Jimmy from two years ago is definitely worth a deal.

I have no idea what Argo are going to do, but I wonder if a tactic some clubs will employ is to have a very small retained list. I assume this would mean they have a much smaller players budget, but no effective team. The gamble/hope being that the club is more likely to survive and that players will be desperate once football is back on, and so accept much lower wages than they would have?

The alternative is to get players now and have a big retained squad, but will such clubs come out the other side financially alive? This seems to be what most of the posters suggest their clubs are doing. Instinctively it seems the wrong thing to do.

Are you happy how your club is handling retained lists?
