We've all been having a lovely chat on the non-league forum and it's unanimous that we won't be accepting Satanage if they are relegated.

Ok got it, we'll have a little talk and see if there's anything we could do to oblige. But be warned though - so far, only one side has rolled over and let Boro stroll to an 4-0 easy win

But in return, I would like you lot in the NL to do your bit as well and not let any side with delusions of grandeur to come up? The 'we are a proper club' type? Cheers.

I didnt think there was a rivalry between Carlisle and Barrow, certainly not from our side anyway...

but I went there for a preseason friendly a few years back (3 fucking hours on the train stopping at all these west Cumbrians shitholes that make Syria look like Monte Carlo!) and the Barrow fans were taking it very seriously. A group of them even went to the trouble of leaving before full time so they could wait outside the away end to “accompany” us back to the station. There was a lot of hostility coming our way which took me by surprise as I’d never really given Barrow much consideration before that.

A nice win tomorrow against Morecambe as well as defeat for Stevenage and I’d say we’re just about safe.

Problem is, we never ever beat Morecambe at home. It just never happens, in fact I don’t think it’s ever happened unless you count the shitty B team trophy.

FWIW I don't think we are, they've been by too far the most consistent side in the division, and a five point gap is probably well within their capability to protect.

Barnet won't go up because they are incapable of staging home games.

I don't think they will but it's like you say; who knows at this stage with a good 10 sides still in with a chance? All I know is they've got a number of games in hand over their rivals but as we know that doesn't mean much down in the lower leagues. And then there's the poor state of the pitch at the Hive as well.

I'm ok with Yeovil going up. I just don't want to see the likes of Bwood joining us, you know the sort of clubs with more stewards than fans in the ground.

Btw, what sort of home gates do Harrogate get? Would I be wrong in saying they'll be (by far) the smallest side ever to join the FL should they go up? I'm wondering if they're the sort of club that will attract more interest from the natives once they're in the FL. By interest I mean attracting hundreds and not tens of new fans.

Salford/Fleetwood are by far the smallest teams in the EFL in my living memory I think, likely Fleetwood.

All up for suggestions lyk, I dunno if Harrogate are traditionally smaller than those two.

They're averaging 1300 but against us a few weeks ago the gate was 801. I know it was a Tuesday night but we took 128.

Depends what you mean by small. I wouldn't consider Fleetwood to be particularly smaller than the likes of Morecambe, Crawley, FGR and Stevenage; all of whom were reasonably established in the higher echelons of non-league before getting into the league. Fletwood have a higher attendance than those, perhaps due to being in L1, perhaps due to investing money in the facilities. Burton Albion and Accrington Stanley are other league clubs I'd include in that. They get around 2000 in L2 and 3000 in L1.

Macclesfield have the smallest attendance yet I consider them bigger, perhaps due to them having a decent spell in the league in the nineties and early noughties when it was harder to get into. I think of them as on a level with Cheltenham as one of those clubs who don't have a lot of history as a league club but just enough that you wouldn't think them as being out of place in the league.

Salford in my view are much smaller than all of these. Attendances are on a par with Fleetwood and Stanley and higher than those 'small' clubs in L2 yet they didn't spend hardly any time in the national leagues and have virtually no true fans.

I'd probably think of Harrogate as being bigger than Salford but smaller than those clubs above who spent a significant length of time just beneath the league, and I'd put Barrow in the Cheltenham/Macclesfield bracket.

Salford naturally are tiny as they were playing in front of a few men and a dog five or six years ago and never have been close to EFL.

Morecambe though have had a few sub 1000 attendances in recent years in the league.

Harrogate you’d think will be getting ok crowds in the EFL if they came up as it’s well populated and will surely be a hugely popular away trip due to location and the Town.

Crawley is an odd one as they’ve had a lot of tiny away followings but seem to pull in ok numbers at home.

Despite being in the South East their location is oddly isolated... particularly in this division of late, them and Gillingham are the only lower league clubs in the area, the M25 adds a lot to travel times to the north and west of London from their perspective and east-west links along the south coast are pretty poor considering.

Plus they have the added benefit of dirt cheap tickets too! If they were £20 like most clubs they’d likely get far less... (think their away travel is free or at least heavily subsidised too)
