I understand the reason for such a swear filter. Unfortunately for fans of "the Iron" (I better write the nickname than the clubs name because it looks ridiculous), maybe something can be done to "unban" the c-word if it's in the middle of a clubs name ;).

btw: Am I allowed to use the german words for those who are "****" out? (only joking)

I urge you all to join the Stevencc protest against this diabolical impingement on our freedom. Buy loads of shit on Amazon and don't bother using 1ff's affiliate link. Oh, and if you feel the need to buy something that explodes glitter or penises or poo or whatever into someone else's face, either make it yourself or use a competing company.

FIGHT THE POWER.

And send it to 1FF HQ, care of TB.

this turn of events is especially troubling to me because, as a non-swearer, i have always been using "SHAG" and "dibdobdibdobdibdobdibdob" in day-to-day postings and now everybody is going to assume i am a swearer

I find dibdob and shag more offensive than the words they've replaced.

I wasn't even aware the shoutbox had been changed to be honest.

TB will change them back when he gets round to doing it, as I've said above, this is just a bit of an inside joke (bar c***, as I think that will be keeping some sort of filter) and I would think TB hasn't had chance/time to get round to fiddling with them again.

Far too much Shaging going on recently.

Should be resolved soon.

Surely the best way for the swear filter to be invoked is to allow those that are offended to block certain words? Why should the majority who aren't offended have to put up with the filters?

For what it's worth, I can't stand the c-bomb, but it irritates me more seeing a certain Lincolnshire club's name reduced to ********* or whatever.

As mentioned above, not sure that's a feature that's possible - if it is, not sure how long it would take to 'create' that option as such. With a swear filter, it's not too bad, with the option to have or not have it, I'd be surprised if that is an add-on available with xenforo's (the forums software) and thus it would probably have to be coded, which could take quite a chunk of TB's time.

I thought admins were all equal? Surely you could just change the ones you've said will be changed back to whatever they were before?

We all are, myself and TB own the website, Mark helps us out as much he can. I don't physically have a clue where I'd even go to change them back or how it would be done.

TB covers the coding, website changes, back up, programmes, anything technical/financial with the website. Mark helps out with what he can on the technical side of things/day to day running when he gets chance.

I cover the actual 'forum' running and issues as such, the moderators, the content, the questions answering, anybody needing help with getting round, any problems with users etc.

I'd ask for a little patience from everyone if possible please, it will be sorted, but not just at the drop of a hat for every single thing that goes on as it's just not plausible unfortunately.

I like to think I'm pretty confident with the Forum's software control panel, I'm a fairly technical minded bloke. But twice now I've spent a while hunting around the place trying to figure out where/how the filter is setup, and for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Maybe I'm thick, but it needs TB and his prior understanding of it to tweak it. Maintaining a forum of this size isn't as simple as clicking a few buttons, you need to know what you're doing. Especially if code is involved.

I must be spending too much time around here, because I just got a work email entitled 'Snagging List' - and it took me 3 goes to read it and realise it did not in fact say 'Shagging list'.

That's fair enough regarding your different roles however I can't see your final paragraph being accepted very well considering this whole issue is one that most deem as being unnecessary from the start

Plus it has been expanded after criticisms started, e.g. c***

Right I've spent the last hour at work (supposedly, haha) - trying to get this solved. After some google searching and reading up on a couple of things, I think I've managed to solve the issue. The swear filter SHOULD be back to normal now.

Scunthorpe fuck fucking c***

Also found this, which answers the questions in the OP, whether a swear filter can be a preference or not, seems it can be an option. > https://xenforo.com/community/resources/sonnb-profanity-filter.903/

However setting that one up, really is out of my league.

With that being solved, I'm going to close this now so it doesn't drag on.

Hope that helps, back to work!
