High scores all round, as the top three answers are all chosen. Jehovah's Five will need a very low score in the next stage though, as they sit 12 points behind.

Jehovah’s Five – Mary Rose 38
League One & A Lemon - HMS Bounty 22
Team Tinpot – HMS Victory 26

WWII battleship named after Germany’s ‘Iron Chancellor’ - Bismarck 15
Ship that took James Cook to Botany Bay - HMS Endeavour 2
Took Darwin to the Galapagos - HMS Beagle 8

Part 2 coming shortly...

NO WAY. The one I knew scored 2!

Jehovah’s Five – Subject of an influential 1925 Soviet silent film - Potemkin 6
League One & A Lemon - Ship in which Sir Francis Drake made his voyage of circumnavigation (1577-1580) - Golden Hind 9
Team Tinpot - US battleship, scene of Japan’s surrender in WWII - USS Missouri 3

Final Scores after Round Three
Jehovah's Five - 44
League One & A Lemon - 31
Team Tinpot - 29

And it's our current overall leader Jehovah's Five who make way, meaning L1&AL and Team Tinpot go head to head! Could this have gone any worse for Team Adidas, who will go joint bottom regardless of the result.

Missouri was the one I was unsure on, I thought the Golden Hind would be the lowest out of those choices.

Oh man. The question that fucked us over was one where I was sure we'd be fine... but we got the highest answer. I only knew three of that first bunch, but brushed off two of them as sure fire obvious answers that everybody would know... yet among them were the top two answers.

Head to Head

In this round, the two remaining teams will go head to head in a best of three scenario.

1. Types of Penguin

We are going to show you the names of fives species of penguins with alternate letters removed. We would like you to fill in the gaps and name the penguin you think is most obscure.

I felt like I had a bit of an advantage in that last round seeing as half the pubs/buildings/area's of Plymouth are named after anything to do with Francis Drake and the Mayflower. It's like the two things we have going for us down here.

And as I said in the PM, we've got the Mayflower park and Mayflower theatre!

I'm supporting team Tinpot here, on the basis that L1+aL only got through by somehow scoring 22 for the Bounty to our Mary Roses 38. No way I'd have called that... The Bounty was by far the easiest one there I thought.

I'm big on my maritime history and have read a load of the Hornblower and Aubrey/Machurin books (Master And Commander was the film about them), so knew most of them.

Not so hot on these penguins though, only know one just now - I'd be struggling if our team was still in it.

I know three of those penguin ones. I remember seeing it on the actual Pointless TV show!

League One & A Lemon – Chinstrap 6
Team Tinpot – Gentoo 5

Superb work by markpvfc who swooped in as the rest of the team were agreeing on the 11 pointer Macaroni.

1-0 Team Tinpot

If Team Tinpot get this second question (coming shortly), then they're in to the Jackpot Round.

2. England Footballers Named Peter or Paul

We are looking for any member of an England World Cup or European Championship squad commonly known by the first name Peter or Paul since 1980, up to the World Cup of 2010. To clarify, we are only looking for players named in the final squad.
