Ok, so Vaughan is fairly unlikely to feature, but he is the most high-profile player to have been at both so he gets the nod.

As for the game, have we played Crewe a week late? Will Artell demand a reaction to the Vale performance and chuck your youngsters back in, who may give our more-solid-these-days-but-aging midfield the runaround? Will they fancy it against Doyle, O'Brien and Rose? Or are you totally on the beach now?

We really need something here, 4 points from this and MK Dons on Good Friday as an absolute minimum really. Apart from fitzsimons coming in for the suspended Schofield in goal, we'll be unchanged.

I think it could be 1-1, Hemmings for us. Anything between 500-1000 Notts travelling.

EDIT this is all assuming we don't get wound up at the High Court today, obvs.

Seems surprising to see Vaughan has struggled so badly for you guys. Most of our high end products who end up dropping back down to this level tend to cope quite well, see Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard for 2 examples.

As for us, Artell has hinted at changes, but it's hard to judge what he means by the fact they won't be wholesale. Does that mean he'll only make 1-2, or is he so annoyed that he'll make 5-6? We are still capable of performing, see Crawley and Mansfield for recent evidence. Or, we could continue or malaise and play like we're on the beach, again.

As long as Ray doesn't come back in, I won't kick up a stink. But I would like to see Jaaskelainen given a start in goal given Garratt is clearly off come the summer. Same with Dale over Bowery for similar reasons. Wouldn't mind Travis Johnson getting a start at RB and shifting Ng to CB. But maybe putting a rookie RB in against Boldewijn would be a bad idea.

Think we'll lose 1-0, but I'd take a point, given County's good run of results against us and their improved away form.

Isn’t really Vaughan’s fault, but he’s been terrible. Completely unsuited to this level of football.

Fuck knows what we’ll do, I’m in Cologne and will be drunkenly and nervously across the scores. Our away form is decent, we’ve got a good record at Gresty Road, and Kane Hemmings is one of the form players in the league. We need to be looking to win this.

Honestly, it depends which Crewe side turns up on the day. Crewe are very much the definition of inconsistency... very capable of beating sides like Crawley 6-0, and turning over Mansfield but can also have a number of players not turn up on the day.

Artell is his own worst enemy when it comes to picking the team. Instead of focusing on what they might do, he should be looking at what is own sides are capable off. After Vale away, I would make a few changes. I'd want Ainley, Kirk, Lowery and Dale to all start and would drop Taylor-Sinclair, Finney & Bowery.

I'm hoping you bring a big following and should be a good game to watch with you having something to play for. You're fighting for your lives and if you're midfield are up for it on the day, I think you will come away with the 3 points.

I'm hoping we turn up for the next two games Vs Notts and Yeovil even just to help Macc out. But our record Vs Notts is very poor. So I'm expecting to get turned over here. I just hope Artel makes a few changes and gives a few younger players a run out that deserve it. Lowery and Dale are musts for me. I wouldn't even mind having a look at jaaskelainen in goal.

Crewe 1-2 Notts (Kirk, Stead, Hemmings) 4,088 (700 Notts)

Here's your stats fix

Notts have only lost 1 time against Crewe in 16 years. That came at the beginning of last season, 2-0 at Gresty Road.

Crewe have only won 8 at home against Notts in the league since 1893

Prior to the last 2 seasons, the last time the clubs met in the bottom division was back in 1971, where Notts won 2-1

Crewe are 7th in the season home form table.
Notts are 21st in the season away form table.

Crewe have scored 6 goals at home twice this season.
In the past 6 home games they have won 3 lost 3

Prior to March, Notts had only won 1 away game all season, 1-0 against Macclesfield. In the last 2 Notts have scored 6 and conceded 1 away from home.

Kane Hemmings has scored 13 goals so far this season, scoring 6 of the last 10 goals Notts have scored

Chris Potter has 10 for Alex, last scoring mid March in a 6-1 win over Crawley

Let’s just say the stats are contradictory.
History is firmly on our side, season 2018/19 isn’t

Definitely losing this game in a similar vein to the Northampton one.

Long as we beat Yeovil next week I wouldn't mind losing this one if it kept Notts and Macc in the league at Crawley's and Yeovil's expense.

Have a word to your manager and your players, you know, make sure they're all aware of your plan.
I fully expect Crewe to go at us in the first 20, if we can get past that I think we could get a result. A win, not so sure and a point isn't good enough. Crewe's style, if its still passing, will suit us. We have come unstuck against physical hoof ballers.

The Andy White Derby innit.

Artell to pick a formation from a win several months ago from a hat and go with that. He may or may not actually play our better players. Who the fuck knows anymore.

Paris Roubaix on Sunday tho lads.

Lewis Reilly recalled, no doubt to have 10 minutes cameos in the next 5 games. Hope he starts. Still think he's more likely to turn out like Callum Saunders at this stage, but why not give him a run of games and see what he can do.

Not sure about Reilly but got to wonder what Owen Dale has to do to get a chance. Shown a lot of potential, changed a couple of games from the bench, but doesn’t seem to be getting a look in for a start. Scores from the bench then isn’t seen again for a month. Even leapfrogged by Finney in the squad.

Didn’t know Andy White had played at Crewe. Poor sods. And forgot Callum Saunders. Guess it could have been the Matt Tootle derby too.

Anyway, we’ve sold over 700 so should be a decent following. I don’t think a point would be a disaster tbh, depending on other results. If we can stay in touch before our final 3 of Crawley/Grimsby/Swindon, all of which I fancy us more in (depending on Swindon’s status on the last day), we’ve got a chance. Which is more than anyone imagined after Cheltenham 4 or 5 weeks ago.

I see County have had to get a goalie on emergency loan due to Fitzsimmons being out with an illness. Sensible game plan would be to shoot on sight and swing in crosses to test out the rookie stopper. We'll see how than pans out tomorrow.

That would be a sensible game plan with Ross as well to be fair

Andy White, Andy White, Andy White

He moves in mysterious ways. God I loved that chant as a kid.

Yeah whenever we come up against a rookie keeper in recent years we try to walk the ball into the net for some daft reason despite most of the rookies being absolute horsepiss. Still going with 3-0 Notts tomorrow as our experimental line up gets absolutely trounced.

Think we have to win . Crawley and Yeovil can't both lose and we need an extra win to Macclesfield just to catch up with them.
Massive games keep coming, I will be there hoping for a better performance than last season where we were shambolic.

A few years ago a mate of mine ran on the pitch at Crewe after we scored in about the second minute, got nicked, and was then carted off to the cellls for the night in Winsford. As he found out, Sunday train services from Winsford to Nottingham aren’t great.

Crewe always seem like a fairly laid back team when they’ve got something to play for. If we can’t beat them when they haven’t got anything to play for and we’re facing non league oblivion, then we’re really in trouble.

I remember us swapping Colin Little for him from you both on loan deals just because we needed a target man in Deano's absence. What a poor poor acquisition. I don't know what Dario saw in him.

Just had a look on wiki and apperantly Little appeared 5 times but never scored, White bagged 10 for Mansfield in 60 odd games!

Did we not sign him basically the week he played against us for Mansfield as Dario was so impressed? One of those Dario insisted was the best player in the squad in training. Baffling.

Big name everyone forgot in this epic derby. Probably the grandmaster of fuckwittery. Gudjon fucking Thordarson. Tosser.

Fuck me man, Notts County, one of the worst teams I have ever seen, so far, and I’ve seen some bad teams. Cynical challenges and terrible football. Don’t mean to rub salt into your wounds but you can see how you’re the worst football league team in the country.

We haven’t even got out of 1st gear.

Watch us lose 3-1 now.

As I expected Crewe would come out and press the game, but to be fair we have let them.
No control of the ball, movement is all wrong, positioning wrong, back 4 all over the place.
Just when we think we might have the bit between our teeth, the team throws out their dentures!
