Currently on BBC4, what does everyone think?

Personally, the music was mostly shite (eg Fame by Irene Cara on the current episode)

Any opinions out there?

Well you could say its shite, but everything from the late 80's to present day 99% of it is copied from older stuff ( see Oasis etc)

they say the 80's was when people stopped making their own music...........it was easier just to copy.

Also there are only so many music notes after all so no surprise older people like me say that's a copy from such and such.

Unless you like black people taking fast of course? Rap is utter shite imo although the women in the video are nice to look at.

Only watch BBC 4 if there's anything on from the 70's. The Old Grey Whistle Test brings back fond memories for me....

Shown on TOGWT but not played at their studios. Still brilliant.

Totally agree about rap, isn't really music is it?

1982 was a particularly poor year for No 1s, Captain Sensible, Goombay Dance Band and Charlene for example.

Why do BBC4 keep showing these? I watch them when they're on, just to remind myself how crap it was to be a teenager in the 80s.

And to prove your point, I give you Keith Harris and Orville right now :ffs:

Black Sabbath's Paranoid first got me interested in music (1969 or 70). This led to Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, the proper Fleetwood Mac when they were a blues band and not the monstrosity they became.

Loved Groundhogs and Taste got me into the best guitarist ever - Rory Gallagher.

Strangely, now I'm older I enjoyed Oklahoma (Hugh Jackman's version, not Howard Keel's) today. Am I gay?
