Macclesfield points deduction reduced from 6 to 4 points.

Poor from the EFL to take sides like this when they really should be impartial. Obviously Stevenage have a vested interest in the case but that is no reason to actually involve them in it. They will add no argument that the EFL couldn't have made themselves. Thankfully I trust the disciplinary...

Macclesfield points deduction reduced from 6 to 4 points.

I'd imagine clubs don't want to risk losing out on a home game if we get chucked out early next season like Bury - which is a bit self centred but understandable.

Macclesfield points deduction reduced from 6 to 4 points.

There's no timeframe on it. The EFL seem to have abandoned their wish for it all to be resolved quickly in favour of getting the outcome they want. Hopefully it's over soon so our preparations can continue without more disruption.

Macclesfield points deduction reduced from 6 to 4 points.

https://www.mtfc.co.uk/news/2020/july2/08.07.20-club-update-july-2020/ A rare update from the club today with the business plan due at the end of the month. Currently the EFL's appeal is hindering our ability to make any real plans for next season. The chances of selling the club look as remote...

Macclesfield points deduction reduced from 6 to 4 points.

And 2 weeks later the EFL decide to appeal after pressure from Stevenage, Carlisle, Grimsby and possibly others. Their objection is that some of the points deduction was suspended until next season rather than being applied straight away. Strange, seeing as the EFL could easily just reject our...

Yeah this was *just* a winding up petition. Fee of £72k apparently. No surprise it was adjourned given the COVID situation.

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Not under the current ownership that's for sure. There's every chance that we'll go pop over the summer and Stevenage will stay up regardless of the EFL's agenda. They sure as hell won't want a repeat of the Bury saga. A takeover is our only way out. The glimmer of hope is that we seemingly...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

The trouble is that the EFL aren't impartial in this situation. They have a vested interest in keeping Stevenage in the League. After all, it will look bad on them if a perfectly well run club is relegated into a league that won't start, while a basket case stays in L2 and potentially goes bust...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

The only way I can see us staying in business is if we stay up and find new ownership. I don't see us surviving if we end up getting relegated. Best case scenario is that we meet in League 2 in 10 years time in your nicely renovated stadium! But failing that maybe one day you'll cross paths with...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Absolutely they want us out, the report from our last disciplinary hearing showed that they would have relegated us there and then if they'd got their way. Then they go and charge us again last week, directly in contradiction with the independent panel's advice. And to be fair, in any other...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Exactly, it should have been the default method. But by not making it the default and leaving it to Lincoln to point it out, it was never going to be taken as seriously as if the EFL had proposed the idea themselves. And that is where the EFL have been a bit sly, potentially well aware that most...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Thing is, this is what the clubs have voted for so it's really no different to the Tranmere situation for example. Unless it can be shown that the EFL misled the clubs by never actually going into detail about what their method for points deductions actually was. As mentioned in one of our fan...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

The Bolton example was a bit facetious but the same logic applies to my own club's situation where this decision actually actually means something :) Anyway it seems the EFL's proposal got the vote so I'll pipe down.

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

That's just to decide who gets reprieved in the NLN/S right? In which case it's different to this current situation because it's only here where the PPG is being multiplied by 46 that it effectively increases the size of a points deduction.

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

So using the EFL's method, if the season had ended before Bolton had got past zero points, they would end up with a negative PPG? If you extrapolate it over the whole season, they would end up with less points than they already had, effectively giving them another deduction.

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Yeah this is my preferred stance. Points deductions should be a fixed amount or else it undermines the process that went into deciding the size of the deduction. Otherwise you'd end up with effectively having "points deductions per game" which is inevitably a bigger punishment than what was...

They've all been dealt with (or at least deemed not worth a punishment in some cases). Just need to avoid breaking any more rules before the end of the season.

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Yeah that's likely to happen. But by no means would it just be us who are lacking funds after all this. Dunno how lenient the league will be in circumstances like these, not that we deserve any favours from them anyway. In the short term we'll make it to the end of the season using the furlough...

Athletic Article: League One and Two Seasons to be abandoned next week

Would we really have voted for relegation if there's still a chance we'll go down? I'm pretty sure the points deduction rumours aren't true but surely we'd be quite content with relegation being scrapped this season to stop the league trying to force us out.

    Coronavirus and League 2

If the FL had got their way then last week's deduction would have been big enough to relegate us. It was only the disciplinary commission themselves who said that would be too harsh. They also decided that we shouldn't be punished further for outstanding late payments. Not that it really...
