When we (briefly) had Gimi Toure, he was dreadful. Uncoordinated and no footballing brain. I can’t even remember how he left us but apparently he didn’t turn up at training for ages, so he might have an attitude problem too.

    Leyton Orient Manager Justin Edinburgh

I can't believe this. Living in London now, I watch Orient probably the most out of any London team. He always seemed so fit and healthy for a middle aged guy, but I guess these sort of things can happen to anyone. R.I.P. Justin

I’ll never forget Joey Jones’ glorious assist for our 94th minute winner at Woking on our way to the title.

    The best of league two

As an exile I’ve not done too many games this season, but of what I’ve seen: Best opposition player: The best team (on the day) I’ve seen us play was definitely Carlisle, and the standout player was probably Hallam Hope. Saying that, all of Carlisle’s attackers were good. Chair (Stevenage)...

    FA Trophy 2018/19

This is entertaining - I pretty much agree with everyone you've put into the subsidiary league and the bankrolled league. Do Burton fit in somewhere? Also Accrington Stanley?

    Stickied League 2 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

I agree with Dan that it is a better team now. I agree with you that Danny Whitehead is a big loss but I think we've made several quality additions on last year's squad. Even if it didn't work for Vincenti at Coventry, my mate who's a Rochdale fan says that Vincenti was quality at L1 level...

Sam Ramsbottom was a reasonable back up keeper at NL level - he should be pretty decent at NLN north level.

Sounds like we've signed the Shwan Jalal of centre backs!

    Stickied League 2 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Certainly got potential. He wasn't a guaranteed starter for us last season but is very versatile, being able to play left back, left mid, centre mid etc. He can score goals, although his passing lets him down. I doubt he'd get in your first XI, but he'd be one for the future. Oh, and Tranmere...

Quality player - one of the best I saw vs Macc last season.

    Chesterfield FC Shambles Thread

This was a poor quality league last season and we didn't even have the best players, we just had the best manager. Jalal was also the weakest player in our starting XI in my opinion. However, he isn't shit. He's decent most of the time but decides to chuck one in his own net every 4 or 5 games...

Top 8 keeper at this level but not good enough for League 2. He is very good 3 in every 4 games, but then costs you a goal in the other 1 of the 4 games. He’s a decent signing for you at this level, but it was also the correct decision for us to release when making the step up to the FL. With...

    Stickied Confirmed Signings 2024/25

Jalal was probably a little unlucky to get released by us since he was 1st choice in a league winning team. He was certainly one of the weaker starting 11 though and I can see why he got released - he just drops a few too many clangers.

    Stickied League 2 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

I don't think we'd have been promoted without Blissett. He was that different option up front that we didn't have. Tyrone Marsh was a lot better alongside Blissett, with Marsh scoring lots of important goals at the end of the season. Blissett also chipped in with 5 in 15 games which isn't a bad...

I think people are getting a bit over the top with Salford. They have made some good signings today but Gary Neville has said there won't be many more and they have a lot of players already signed for next season who aren't of the quality to win the National League in my opinion. I think Salford...

    Odds for next season

I reckon Orient could be a decent bet to win the league if they can replicate their form from the second half of the season and add a few more quality players.

Our players won't care as none of them will play for Macclesfield!

That is true, but I still can’t think any other team in the NL will be paying £2k+/week for a midfielder.

    Stickied Confirmed Signings 2024/25

Salford are paying Whitehead a mere EIGHT times what we were paying him last season and over double what he was paid at Wigan. He’s a good player, but that’s sheer lunacy in financial terms - he would have signed for Salford for less than half the money they’ve given him!
