You're probably too young to remember Chelsea at home last day of the 83/84 season, when they had to win to clinch the title. Chelsea fans everywhere that day, even in The Pontoon, but they were soon chased out of there by The Pontoon Boot Boys. :bg:
Maybe these days, but I did it a few times back in the '80's when there were far more open away ends and if it was pissing down it was rather a sensible thing to do.
I wouldn't quite go that far but one thing it did show on Saturday is that we do have it in us to compete with the best in this Division. Just need to make those performances more regularly in the league though.
What on earth happened there today? Did someone not tell our players that we don't do second halves.
First half was fairly uneventful really apart from Collins aberration for their goal and their player stabbing the ball wide when through on goal (although he did look offside to me)
2nd half...
Last 5 visits have been 5 defeats, 2 goals scored and 15 against!!!
I'm definitely far more hopeful we can get a result on Saturday as I was a few weeks ago. Jolley will probably go for the same starting XI that has taken 10 points from the last 4 games without conceding a goal.
I'll take a...
Yep, disgraceful cheating. I'm surprised we haven't been deducted at least 10 points or even been thrown out of the league for it, but then after all I'm an imbecile so what do I know. :fing:
Big test on Saturday at one of our bogey grounds, Gresty Road. Last 5 visits there have brought 5 defeats, with 2 goals scored and 15 conceded.
I can see Jolley naming an unchanged team again for the 5th game in a row and hopefully we can keep up the unbeaten run and hopefully a 5th consecutive...
If Macc do get relegated, which is looking like a possibility at the moment, will they be the first team promoted from The Conference/National League to go straight back down again?
Blimey, that miss looks worse that what it did on the night. We definitely rode our luck there but I think we just deserved the 3 points with another decent battling performance. 4 clean sheets in a row now and I hope the people calling for Jolley to be sacked just a few weeks ago are hanging...
i'm sure if you were to go through every penalty taken so far this season, you'd probalby find about 1 in 10 that was taken legitimately to the letter of the law.
To use the word "cheating" is just laughable though. Cheating is something a player does on purpose and as you can see Sweeney has...
Blimey, are we still harping on about something that happens regularly in a lot of games (right or wrong).
It may have passed you by but we both have games tonight so maybe we should move onto that now.
At the end of the day, the penalty was saved, legally or not and the game finished 0-0...
I've seen penalties scored when there's sometimes one or more opposing players almost level with the taker when the ball is kicked and no retake is ordered. Our players had obviously just moved a split second before the ball was kicked, hence them still having one foot on the line.
I'm not...
How often do you see penalties retaken these days for encroachment. Hardly ever. I'm not saying that's right just the way it is.
However if you look at the picture below it was pretty marginal with both players still having one foot on the line so it was hardly a major encroachment which would...
