I reckon that the top teams really should be looking to take at least mid 20s points off Dover, Kings Lynn, Weymouth, Wealdstone and Maidenhead. We're 18 from 18 so far (even during the Rusk plague we managed to win at Weymouth and Maidenhead) which makes up a bit for dropping silly points...
Annoyingly for years we were financially trampled on by the likes of Salford, Fylde, Harrogate and for a short time North Ferriby but now that we've had a 'lottery' win people including hypocritical Haythornthwaite at Fylde suddenly want a salary cap.
Obviously think we have got a decent chance to win it but would like us to be top by the end of Feb and 5 or 6 points clear by the end of March to get ready for our ultra-tough run in. I have Wrexham marked as the biggest danger as they keep on managing to win games where they haven't performed...
The conspiracy theorists at our place reckon that Alty cancelled the catering order for our game two days before they got it called off for Covid, no matter we still humped them 4-1.
Ditto for us. I seem to remember Challinor getting quite a few loan signings in at Hartlepool but so far nada for us. We're OK for the moment even if Quigley misses a couple of games (as seems likely) but if Madden gets a knock or suspension our forward line will start to look a bit weak.
I assumed that Crankshaw was left off the bench as he started against Larkhall and DC thought we only needed one forward (Jennings) on the bench or was he injured?
If Chesterfield fans are feeling bad today, have a look at the results on 11th Dec when we lost at Torquay. Halifax, Chesterfield, Wrexham, Notts, Bromley, Boreham Wood and Solihull who were well up there at the time all won (D&R didn't play).
Oh and the same could happen again this weekend if...
Probably be 10 changes for us tonight (possibly 9). Really should beat this lot given the way we're playing but I've a slight worry as our strength is now in the midfield 3 and from what I've been told Eastleigh tend to bypass that part of the pitch altogether.
Yes but we did get Grimsby in the first round. No doubt we'll get Wrex/Hfax/Boredom/Notts AWAY in the next round and the rules of this comp are not to take it serious until the QFs.
A minority did and I seem to remember that LEAGUE ONE (that's two leagues above us btw) Bolton were roughly mid table at the time. Oh and if we'd had a pitch invasion whilst getting humped 4-0 at home by Solihull would that have been OK? Seriously though let's face it all clubs 'have got 'em'.
