Crunch time this weekend as Donny come to town. In the last 4 away games we have conceded in extra time in all of them.A run of tough away games but light at the end of the tunnel perhaps with 6 homes games to come, a few against teams struggling like ourselves. At the last count the club had 14 players injured which is unheard of, hopefully a few will be getting back and may feature on Saturday
No disrespect to Donny but if we can't get a win we really are in the last chance salon
3-2 to the Cod's as we start to claw our way from the dreaded drop

The ludicrous thing is Donny did the double over us. I know in this league everyone can beat everyone else on a good day but that double has basically scuppered out auto promotion hope. Yes, we have lost other matches but those two are stand out!

Anyway, Saturday if we are to have the remotest chance of catching Wigan or Rotherham we have to beat Cambridge. Oxfrord can finally kill off Ipswich's chances of the playyoffs and for the rest of the front runners, the only other hard to call is Pompy v Wycombe.

You have had a tremendous season and can be optimistic about play off hopes. Even more ludicrous that Donny doing the double over you, we got the double over the Millers.....

Well, according to TWTD Ipswich are playing superbly, the best football ever. (even better than Bolton! :gr: ) but struggling to put it in the net which should suit you.

@Ipswich, I always thought the idea in football was to put the ball in the net, not play fancy dan footy and not score. ;)

We're playing great stuff, and were robbed by a shocking lino decision at the weekend. I still think the season is over though.

We need 6 points from Oxford and Plymouth for that opinion to change.

I don’t mind losing to Ipswich if it gives them the fighting spirit to take points off Plymouth in the following game.

We will need to win the games against playoff rivals which we will need to do in the playoffs anyway. Exciting stuff.

What?

I bloody mind losing to them. I mind losing to anybody. The most important game is the next one. Let's beat Ipswich and then, and only then, think about the next game.

I think beating anyone at this stage is imperative. In this instance beating Ipswich all but ends their playoff push. Playoff chasing sides simply aren’t dropping enough points.

Any side that drops points at this stage around us is a bonus. Cancelling each other out right now isn’t enough such is the tough competition.

You have zero need to worry, we never beat you at yours and there is zero chance of us scoring let alone 2

We've come through an on paper horrific run with almost flying colours. Now we go into a run of 4 games against 15th, 24th, 17th and 20th. 12 points really shouldn't be out of reach but Saturday looks to be the toughest test with Cambridge having a decent home record.

Some of our fans are convinced that the autos are gone, but there's still so much left to play for you just never know. We were something like 16 points behind Preston at one point in 2015 and caught them with an excellent end of the season...

Stop with the positivity, it's very unnerving.

Someone here has to be!

In all seriousness though, we shouldn't be where we are. We're massively overachieving when you look at budgets and some of the teams in this league. Add that to the fact that news broke that we'd lost our manager at half time of our first competitive game of the season and he ended up taking all but one of our coaching staff to Wales with him... to have gone 11 games unbeaten and still be in with a shout of automatic promotion with 8 games left is incredible.

The power of the loan market, it allows clubs with lesser budgets to pick up top young players for the level and mix it with the heavier hitters. When we last went up with Blackburn, both of us were pushed all the way by Shrewsbury who had Dean Henderson and Ben Godfrey on loan.

It's why the loan system in England has to be protected at all costs. It's already being ruined in the Championship by parent clubs accepting loan fees for players by parachute payment clubs rather than picking club best set to develop the player.

I would think there at least 5 or 6 teams with a better budget than ours.

We managed to hold last year's championship team together (other than Matt Crooks) because of the relegation clauses in their contracts.

The big danger for us if we fail to go up is we'll lose a lot of our best players over the summer and then we could be down here for an extended period,

Home to Wycombe. Likely draw I think.

There's definitely a deflated feeling around the club. We had a great run of results but reality has hit after drawing at Ipswich and losing at Plymouth, and being second-best in both games.

A win in this one would technically mean we're still in the playoff hunt but in reality, the teams above us just aren't dropping points in this incredibly uneven league.

Fear the worst tomorrow, not a happy hunting ground in the past and if Gillingham get into us early and don't let us settle it could be a very uncomfortable afternoon again. Accrington played for set pieces and were very very physical on Tuesday and it worked for em, we look vulnerable on set pieces so if they have players to take advantage we'd buckle.

Positives are Harlee Dean, Josh Windass and Mendez-Laing trained with the squad and may be involved.

No chance are you dropping any points today. Plymouth, pompey, mk dons, Bolton, wigan and rotherham all to pick up maximum points as well. Oxford v Ipswich could be 0-0 judging by the fact last 5 fixtures between the pair have seen only one goal (3-3 incoming). Charltons match tricky but got a feeling they will win. Fleetwood can win today to help their survival bid and i’m fancying a btts in the cheltenham match. However my lot are so unpredictable and throw in the mixed bag of results against Lincoln since being down league one means i have no idea of the outcome today for us. Also former player Maguire was rested midweek and will be raring to put another good performance against us after his hat trick at the SOL to get one over us (more LJ in fairness) but nevertheless he will be up for it.

A win today is essential to stay in the top 6 but football is a funny old game so no doubt all the predictions above will be shite just like my accumulators.

Hard games in fairness, you played well at SOL and lost when u shouldn’t of imo. You can still make play-offs but it will be tough. However i can see teams dropping points as some teams in top 10 do need to play one another. We have both Plymouth and Oxford to face away.

In terms of the difficulty of the game then I don’t think a draw would be too bad in the grand scheme of things, but as you say the top sides are winning left, right and centre and we desperately need wins to stay in play-off contention.

We got away with one on Tuesday night with our stoppage-time “winner” that should have been chalked off for a foul, but we can’t rely on that every week.

If we’re not winning on 80 minutes and are gagging for a goal, expect to see the unusual “big man plus big man” combo up front as Akinfenwa comes on with Vokes up front as we try and pummel you into submission.

You’ll win comfortably, they’re pretty dross. If you look poor against us, you’re poor.

As for us, I expect us to get back to losing ways.

I think our players are on the beach already … we have been shocking today so far against a pretty horrendous side looking at the form table.

We've been just like we were against Crewe a few weeks ago - bloody awful. I know we're essentially safe but it's frustrating how often we've not turned up against other bottom half sides this year.

About time. Crewe really are shocking. We’ve been rubbish today. Didn’t really look that up for it although we are usually terrible when the pitch is shocking like this and it’s a bit windy.
