Agreed Bets

PaulHaddock and StagsForLife have a £5 bet on who will finish higher between Grimsby and Mansfield.

Si Robin and Richard Cranium have a £5 bet on who will score more goals between Dan Holman and Matt Green.

Who wants to bet me? Green to score more goals than one of your strikers?

I'll take that Rich, got a good feeling about Dan Holman this year, and Lord knows I don't rate Matt Green. Shall we say a fiver?

Sounds good to me. Hopefully Holman puts up more of a fight than that Spencer lad did at Cambridge last season!

I'll redo the McGeehan vs Luke Berry league goals bet from last season if there are any takers? £5.

I'll also offer a £5 bet that Jack Marriott + Danny Hylton score more goals combined than any 2 players from your club if anyone fancies that.

I will take Lowe + Dagnall will score more than Hylton + Marriott.

Any optimistic Cheltenham fan reckon they'll finish above us? I'll bet £5 they won't.

£5 that Cambridge finish above Barnet (have a feeling the Bees are in for a good season this year and will make the PO'S)

I would, but I've already made my bet for the season.

There should be a couple of other Town fans on here somewhere though.

I'll try to come up with another couple of bets in the next couple of days, if there are no takers for the ones I've put up. Thing is the bets have to be realistic, i.e. evenly matched up on paper, and preferably involve clubs who're well represented on this board.

Fancy McGeehan vs Berry league goals?

Surprised no-one has taken that yet, it was as evenly matched as they come last season.

I'll bet anyone that Argyle score more goals from set pieces this season than their own team (League 2). Name your stakes.

Okay winkles, here are my offerings. Fiver to the site (fiver each if we tie) on any or all of the following:

- Orient to finish above Barnet with a 12 point handicap.

- Orient's second-top goal scorer to score more league goals than your team's top goal scorer.

- Orient to go longer without a league 0-0 draw than your club.

- Orient to do the double over Portsmouth (yet again).

- Dean Cox and Gavin Massey to total more league goals & assists combined than any two of your team's midfielders.

I may as well take you up on that bottom one seeing as it's the only realistic one I've seen for me to do thus far. Devitt and Adams for us should, in theory, rack up a fair amount of assists and hopefully a few goals too. It should, again in theory, be pretty close between the two pairs. No doubt Devitt and Adams will both break both legs in the opening match now that I've said all that.

I'll take this one E10:

Didn't realise you had such a hold on us until I went back over the records. We've done ok in the cups but last time we avoided defeat in the league was '83 (driver seatbelts had just become mandatory) and the last league win for us was '76 (the Cod War with Iceland was still raging).

All regimes fall eventually.

An excellent start to my bet with Orient having gone and released Cox. They must've read the bet, Massey will be out the door next I'm guessing.

*starts sticking knitting needles in my Nicky Adams voodoo doll's knees*

On the plus side, the unintentionally vague wording of the bet means I should have Coxy back in action in January...

I think I'm only on 2 so far, Devitt decided to turn it on in the cup against Oldham but nothing in the league for him yet. If I'd known Lambe was going to decide to become Ronaldo then I might've gone for him instead.

I'm on 5 (Cox 1 goal, 1 assist; Massey 3 goals). Not sure young Gavin is going to win this one for me on his own. Bit of a headless chicken.

I see nothing in the wording that prevents you including Lambe (or anyone else in the coming months) in "....any two of your midfielders." It was very sporting of you to nominate at the beginning of August.

By my reckoning it's:

- Hylton + Marriott = 29 (38 including cup goals) vs Lowe/Dagnall = 19 (26 including cup goals, 27 if you include the 1 goal Lowe scored for Bury after leaving Crewe). So Crewelad87 definitely lost this one however you calculate it.

- McGeehan = 10 vs Berry = 17. So I'll be paying up for this one! Shame Cam got injured in January as it was close until then, would have been an interesting race. Alas!

Well, even though StagsForLife has been banned (probably to never return), I'll pay up my £5. However, in light of recent forum events, I'd rather not pay it for 'the upkeep of the site' so I'll just pay it to a charity of my choice.
