Stockport County.
Feels to early for this. I will do my full 23 nearer the start date. I think there's a strong 6 who will think they can win the league. Wrexham, Notts, Stockport, Chesterfield, Grimsby and Southend. I think one if not both Southend and Grimsby may under estimate this level though. I'm not well versed in their squads but at a glance, I don't see it awash with players I'd like here for example. Dagenham are strong and under performed last year. Torquay did great but their squad has been gutted- can't rule them out though, Johnson is a smart operator. Solihull, Boreham Wood and Bromley are well backed and will aim to get their names in the frame as they have done in recent seasons. Yeovil are a good sized club at this level but not sure where they're at really- they had a tough seaosn last year with what went on with their captain. Halifax and Eastleigh were solid outfits had good seasons last year. Barnet, Aldershot, Woking and Maidenhead seem to know this level and the markets well, if they slip up they could end up in a battle but they'd also take inspiration from Sutton. Alty, Weymouth, Wealdstone, King's Lynn and Dover do look like strugglers but you never know.

I hope I've not missed anyone.

King’s Lynn are my early prediction for dark horses. Not in terms of winning it or anything, but being comfortably mid-table, maybe an outside play-off push. They’ve made some good signings.

Otherwise not a lot to disagree with in the above. I can see Southend crashing and burning for some reason, Grimsby I think look solid but not sure they have the quality for a title challenge.

Stockport look to have the fewest question marks. Chesterfield have done everything right since Rowe came in, but there’s something about the set up that makes me feel like it could go wrong at any moment. Notts are potentially very good and very exciting going forward, but a lot of question marks around the midfield and Roberts’ fitness. Wrexham is all currently in theory, but you’d expect they’ll strengthen significantly. Solihull and Torquay have the managers to make the play-offs, Boreham Wood have the team to do it. Bromley maybe have both.

Agree with both of you regarding our squad. Our strongest asset could well turn out to be Paul Hurst and his ability to be able to consistently spot and nurture a rough diamond or four. We won't be passing and moving with any kind of slickness that'll send shivers down the spine of the rest of the divison, but we'll be solid and boring and grind out enough single goal victories to get in those playoff spots, I'd imagine.

Yup apart from his first season with Scott he never had us outside the play offs, even left us in the lge 2 play offs and then put Shrewsbury in the lge 1 play offs a year later.

If there is one thing he knows how to do it's grind out 1-0 wins, not always pretty and not title winning though. Depends if he hits the ground running or takes a season to get going though, obviously in his favour is it's top 7 not top 5 to finish in them now.

Think we are still going to miss goals unless he finds us a goalscorer and creative midfielder though.

You seem to have used a double 't' where you should used a single 't' but after my spat with the East coast brothers I won't get into another tit for tit by calling you the Wrexham Drag-queens.

No need to prologue the BEEF. I'd rather we all focus our hatred on Boreham Wood.

Just noticed that Billies & B365 both clipped their prices from 11/2 to 4/1 following yesterday's developments, still 5s with SKY who amazingly have us 8/15 to finish in the top 7.

In Hurst we trust,
Always builds solid teams and we will probably beat the higher end teams by the odd goal and shut up shop. It's not pretty but it works, like others quoted barring one season here he never finished outside the playoffs for us. We are still getting teased with we have 3 big signings left (Striker, Winger, Centre Midfielder). Think that Hurst has obviouslly been waiting for the right men to walk through the door for us. Be a fun season regardless anyway!

My take on us this season is no chance (well maybe very slim chance) of winning the league but a shoe in for the play offs I would hope.

A bit early without full squads but Stockport and Chessy first and second.
Grimsby, Daggers, Solihull, Wrexham, Torquay for playoffs.
Without some serious improvement to the squad Notts mid table and a change of manager by Christmas.
Dover and Weymouth bottom two.
Turmoil at Barnet and maybe Bromley to have a play-off hangover.

They go into a Mickey Mouse mini League and pretend like they're REAL football clubs and the winners get to be a feeder club for The Shaymen and the rest are shared out between Wrexham and Hartlepool.:ds:

I don't think Stockport will win it under Rusk. I also think their squad is a bit bloated with 5th tier egomaniacs living in their peppercorn mortgaged Wimpy new-build detached 3 bed houses.

Aren't Chesterfield a bit light on forwards? That's why I put them 5th.

Notts for me, it's theirs to lose. Going about stuff quietly but a couple of nagging doubts - will the hangover of missing out on Nicky Featherstone affect them? Also that swanky flat on the Trent (Sterry said the boiler was too small) might be taking a bit out the kitty if they need to strengthen.

Chesterfield’s strike force is decent to be fair, particularly if/when Asante is fit again and Payne doesn’t lose his head at any point. It’s us who are light on forwards if anything, literally just Wootton really at the minute, but we do have more goals from midfield than anyone else I think and a monopoly on exciting, creative second forwards to balance it out.

I put Stockport because I’m not predicting us, but I agree with your doubts about Rusk really.

RE our forwards: Asante progressing much better than expected from his injury, rumoured that he could be back as early as October. Early days but I’m liking the look of the Rowe x Payne partnership atm and that’s defo first choice whilst Asante is out, with Denton and Tyson in reserve that offer two very different options off the bench

Payne...Uh oh...I think you need Asante back quick, unless he somehow rolls back the years to his Dover days.

Payne doesn't need to lose his head to still be shite, he was shite long before fighting with team mates
