5 years ago today...Crawley Town at Manchester United

A few months ago I wrote an article for When Saturday Comes about my experiences of (then Non League) Crawley Town's trip to Old Trafford for the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. But they only needed half of what I'd written, so I thought that today was a good time to publish the rest of it.

Was going to give you some tinpot-related banter for reminiscing about the anniversary of an FA Cup game but the above sentence was so sweet that I feel a bit dirty, like an Orient fan laughing at a child's misery.

Whenever I feel sad I think back to that day at the Kassam and I laugh. Just like I laughed then at the faces of the Oxford children.

Though you'll obviously never be excused for buying a half/half scarf and will probably always regret never taking to the away end with all of the daytrippers that day.

The beauty of drawing a massive club in the cup is for that all too unoften experience of being in a huge collection of your own number....which as we all know, many will go back to abandoning their local side, and return to slagging them off, the moment that you're out of the cup.
