According to a loose women poll

71% have regrets while 29% don't

What are your thoughts , do you have regrets about how you were raised or how you raised your children.

I firmly regret taking my lad to the match at such a young age, technically child abuse.

I always think how they name their kids to start with will gleam some light into how the kids will be raised. If they get pretentious 'look-at-me' names like Unique, Apple, Kai etc then yeah the kids won't have it easy from the off.

This thread needs more Alty telling us how much he hates children who don't sit perfectly still in complete silence.

My childhood was fairly shit so I have regrets about it although they aren't really my regrets in terms of they aren't my fault :dk:.
Raising my own children there isn't a day which doesn't contain a little bit of guilt or regret. Guilt about working too much, being too stressed/ tired to listen properly, a harsh word they didn't deserve.

I'd like the hear from the 29% who think they are perfect parents. I bet their children are egomaniacs.

No regrets with how I was raised, my parents did the best they could for me and I've had a very pleasant life so far. I'm sure my parents regret some of the things they did and didn't do for me, but nobody's perfect.

Guilt and regret as a parent is part and parcel. If you're not continually questioning your methods of parenting and whether you have just handled a situation in the best way and then making adjustments in accordance to that then it's arguable you're not doing it right. There is no hard and fast way of doing these things.

I agree to a certain extent, but for me the time frames for realizing your situation making changes came three years after the event. I was stuck in a job that was getting ever more stressful until after three years I was offered a way out. It was only after six months away from it did I release just what an horrible c*** I'd become. My daughter suffered the most at the time she needed it least, she was a high achiever at school and was bullied badly and slipped into depression. She needed me to stand up and be counted and I didn't. I couldn't see it at the time, I was so self absorbed with my job, but did later after I got away. She always tells me I did nothing wrong, but to this day I regret not being there for her, and will do to my dying day. Our relationship is now perfect, she's 24 and come through the dark days well and I probably over compensate. One thing that will never happen now is will I put work before family, even if I don't realize I'm doing it.

In what way does Kai fit in with those other two? It's not a name I'd choose, but it's a pretty common one.

Don't you think it's another pretentious name parents will give to make their child stand out? You never heard of a name like that 20 years ago.
