One of our board of directors has resigned and in the process issued a very frank and forthright statement. Damning is not the word.

Main points in summary:

1. The Chairman and rest of the board repeatedly bare-faced lied earlier this year that there was no consortium trying to buy the club

2. "I do not believe our Manager has the experience or skills set to get us promoted"

3. "I have stopped believing in the club's Owner’s (Norman Hayward) vision. I personally and strongly feel it is time for a change of ownership"

As I've said a few times already this year; Don't hero worship your owners. They definitely don't tell the truth all the time

Fair play for him to whistle blow

At least you’ve got someone on the board who was willing to stand up for the club.

Our owners at Bury are terrible, the chairman isn’t even the worst person on the board despite putting us £10M in debt. Chairman frequently lies to supporters and many embarrassing cock-ups have occurred in his 5 year tenure. We don’t own our own ground anymore because some lardy da fat twat from Yorkshire thought he’d take high interest loans out against the club in order to achieve his unrealistic aim of Championship football.

There are so many unfit owners of football clubs it’s untrue. If you get an owner that genuinely cares about the club, and not just the money it makes, then you’ve done well.

I definitely think being fan owned, although that also has its own issues with internal factions etc, is better than being bent over a barrel by a businessman who has £ signs in his eyes.

Yeovil seem like they need some new ownership, and probably some investment too especially in the first team (hence why I was disappointed in the draw on Saturday)

I can’t see those crowds improving soon either because realistically a bottom half finish is on the cards.

Do the current ownership invest any money at all, ie do they have to cover a shortfall?

To say we need new ownership is the biggest understatement in football. The fans have wanted this for years but there just hasn't been even a glimmer of hope until recently as the current board just aren't interested. The saddest part of this statement from Andy Rossiter is that the board were seriously looking at selling until we drew Man Utd in the Cup, then pulled out as they could see another opportunity to syphon money out of the club.

The party line form the board is that as a club we don't make any money so they don't invest any. It's a really short-sighted view as they refuse to speculate to accumulate. The facilites at the ground are woeful so we make very little off the pitch income. They blame it all on covenants on the land that stop them developing the stadium but while that is true to a certain extent it's a convenient excuse.

I don't think there is a single Yeovil fan who thinks our owners are anything other than money-grabbing wankers. They're rotten to the core.

Despite spending half a million quid in the summer on the likes of Enzio Boldewijn, Kane Hemmings, Kristian Dennis and David Vaughan, our owner in currently in the bad books with some fans because his youth team goalie son is in goal for the kids’ HT entertainment penalty shootout.

I imagine Yeovil fans would kill for such a dilemma.

Some of our fans still think our owner is good for us because he put in money 15 years ago, even though he's just forced our manager, who had been at the club for 34 years and just got us promoted against all odds, to leave. And there's plenty more to add to that.

Sounds like this could be progress for Yeovil, hope it leads somewhere for you.

We still have supporters who believe our chairman's line that the club had a WUP against it and was hours away from going pop until he turned up just in time to save the club. He has repeated this claim many times. The Day supporters still cling to it and constantly harp back to it if anyone criticises the man.
The thing is, there is no record of there ever being any WUP against the club at that time. They only started turning up after Day arrived, I have lost count as to how many.
It seems it is one of many lies to fall out of our chairman's mouth. Luckily, he has kept quiet since last season, the embarrassment of which was brought about in part thanks to his stupidity and it may have taught him to just keep his ridiculous egotistical face out of the public eye for a while.

Our majority shareholder is great for chucking money in to cover the eternal black hole but I wish he was more hands on - some of the people he has put in power have been, politely, irresponsible with his/the club’s money and he should have been closer to it and had better controls in place, in my opinion.

That said, we’d be dead without him. Honestly I appreciate what people say but there is no way our majority shareholder is gaining anything from being our majority shareholder.

On the other hand we’ve had a really hit and miss (mainly miss) list of chairmen since old Reg.

Glovers, say you were playing decent football and pushing for playoffs, what sort of crowds do you reckon you'd get?

Probably still only about 3500-4000. Loads of empty spaces for tonight's Villa game.

We’re lucky that our Chairman has always been, and always will be, a well thought of and well respected figure around these parts.

Philip Day of Edinburgh Woolen Mill has already made this claim, and he doesn't even have any official involvement... yet. Well not that there was a WUP, or that we were cutting it that close but certainly that if he hadn't stepped in with a loan last season there wouldn't have been a Carlisle United come May.

Bad Owners, ah yes.

This is what bad ownership does and ends up in:

Andy Rossiter, the Director who resigned from our board, has done an interview with local radio. A couple of interesting comments:

Given what you know, now that you have stepped out of it, and obviously the club has lost your influence, do you see a change ever happening?

AR: Well I think nature will take care of that; let's be blunt. The youngest Board member is 74 and the oldest is 80, which is the Owner.

...and now we wait....

Also after been asked where he thinks the club will be in 5 years:

AR: One would hope that success would only be measured this season by a promotion back to League One, because anything less, in my opinion, would be failure with the money that's being spent this year, and that he's being allowed to spend. I obviously won't go into those numbers, but he's got a decent budget, and we should be promoted on it.

Hmm... :pond:

The squad you have cannot possibly be a top 10 budget in this league.

Very strange comment, with the exception of Sowunmi and perhaps a couple of the more experienced guys i really don't know who would be a bigger than average wage...

Maybe we're just horribly overpaying, but even then surely nothing compared to County, Lincoln, Mansfield etc.
