Are we that irrelevant that we can't even get our own thread...

Anyway, it's been coming. God knows what happens now...

I'm both delighted, but also truly saddened it hasn't worked out.

As a man, I can't speak highly enough of him, smart, engaging, funny and very determined, a man that loves Mansfield to bits, and I hope that now he's left fans will also think the same in time to come.

As a manager, it wasn't for him - or if it is to be for him he needs to change his approach - the performances this season in large have been absolutely diabolical - the stats were beginning to become damning.

He left at the right time, and I really hope that both parties can move on and succeed.

I wish adam all the very best.

Love Adam Murray, I've not seen a player with as much passion in my clubs colours in the 16 years I've been going. Absolute pleasure to have watched, The year we got promoted back into the league he was outstanding and then in his first season as gaffer somehow kept us up with one of the worst sides I've ever seen.

Gutted it hasn't worked out but we need a manager now who is more attacking minded. We have some good players here and a good manager can still have ago at getting us into the play offs.

Stags legend. Sad to see him go but probably best for the club in the long run. Steve Evans looking likely to replace him.

Can't see Evans, surely he could get better than us?
I was warming to Mansfield, thanks to Murray and the balanced handling of league status - but Evans getting the job would restore the balance of the world and I could go back to offering disrespect.

Richard Money will apply but Lee Clarke would be a great fit. I'd go for Tony Mowbray if you want to restore my growing respect, but that's the Cumbrian in me.

Evans would be a fantastic appointment for Mansfield, I'd perceive that as a sign that radford means business with us. A change isn't always for the best, and you never know what's round the corner, but it was badly needed here

God fucking damn you all to fucking Chesterfield.

Will the teams we have in upcoming fixtures please stop replacing their managers so that we get new manager bounce? Especially stop replacing them with fucking arseholes like Westley and Evans.

At least we have Exeter up next, and Paul Tisdale is more likely to be the next President of the United States than he is to be sacked. However knowing our luck, by the time Saturday rolls around they've have replaced him with Ian fucking Holloway who still needs to complete his collection of south west club neck-ties, though Exeter won't have needed a club neck-tie in so long they probably no longer produce one.

Sad to see Murray go though, still very well thought of around these parts and it was good to see him start his time as manager there so well.

I imagine he'll get another job in L2 or the National League if wants it.

Shame he's gone, Mansfield are only 3 points from the play-offs and whenever I've come across any of his quotes he's always seemed a decent guy who wants to try and play football 'the right way'. He was an improvement on Cox anyway.

On paper it seems a bit of a premature decision with the play offs not a million miles away. Can't see Steve Evans going there, could maybe see Nigel Adkins taking a bit of an interest though.

This seems pretty accurate from where I am. Would also add I'm glad he's left on his own terms rather than being sacked.

Money is coaching in America I think.

Evans been approached. His job to turn down.... He'd kick this team up the arse and get them playing. Quality squad to take over, they've all been underachieving

Considering our new manager is already lined up, I don't think Murray actually walked.

I said that on Stagsnet, and to a few mates, find it hard to believe that JR would have him lined up so soon after Murray leaving.

Maybe it was a case of being asked to jump before being pushed, that's what I think.

Either way Evans would be a fantastic appointment for us, and would be the first manager in some while which really made me sit up and take note.

Ironic that his first game would be against Crawley

Hope not, I was hoping we'd end up with him if we ever get shot of Derry.

Its Steve Evans.

Also JR had a list of potential people just in case, none of this was pre planned to get murray to quit. its just a measure taken to be prepared and it looks to have paid off

It's looking more likely to be Evans, 99% sure now.

The concern that Evans needs a big budget to be successful is legitimate in my opinion, our budget this season is top half, in fact the club seem to think it's top seven according to what was said pre-season, although you can only be sure of that when the 'list' comes out mid-way through the season.

John Radford as owner does give us the ability to have one of the biggest budgets in the league this happened only a few years ago. Obviously I'm hoping that does not happen considering the last AGM shown we were getting close to self-sustain and losses were down to £70000 odd from a million plus only a year or two before

Have a club and a manager ever been so well suited?

It's not entirely true. He worked wonders when Boston were down to no players and no money to keep them up once and nearly do it again. Admittedly the entire situation did stem from his own actions, though.

He's a good manager and he'll probably do well, but it's fucking Steve Evans. I wouldn't want him near my club.

Mate you had Lee Hughes.

Hughes is a c***, obviously, but he doesn't have a history of ruining football clubs.

To be serious for a minute, I don't really get what the end game of this would be. I don't follow Mansfield particularly closely, but from the outside you seem to have become a financially responsible, much more community focused club over the last couple of years with a fairly productive youth system. Murray obviously wasn't perfect but he seems to have you around par whilst being a half decent custodian.

If Radford gives Evans a serious budget then he'll probably get you up, but what then? It's hard to see you really competing towards the top of League One and Evans will have done nothing to carry on the good things that might actually benefit you long term.

Steve Evans is the physical embodiment of Mansfield. An unattractive mess of a man who you look at and can't believe isn't somehow dead yet.
