Alright, I was enjoying this thread before. Let's get it back up and running. Did Liu and POTM make it over here?
As expected, South Korea and Australia took the top spots in Group A with Oman scoring their only points against Kuwait. After I was banned, I saw mm asking what I was talking about when I said Korea weren't up to much. He went on to say that they were impossible to breakdown and really well organised. In my defence, I did say that despite being hardworking and very difficult to breakdown they were not as good as previously, due to a lack of firepower. I still stand by this. The Australia result and performance were impressive, but they still only won all their matches by a single goal.
Korea will go onto to play Group B runners up Uzbekistan in the next round, who are a side that have caused the Koreans problems in their past two meetings. Australia will face China who navigated Group B with a 100% record.
Iran have also unsurprisingly topped Group C, also with a 100% record. The UAE also progressed as runners up of this group.
Japan will face Jordan, while Iraq play Palestine in the final matches of Group D. Jordan need to beat Japan to go through, but even then they will be relying on Palestine to prevent Iraq winning. If that happens Jordan will go through as group winners with Japan as runners up. The more likely scenario though, is wins for Japan and Iraq resulting in Japan topping the group and Iraq going through as runners up. If this happens; all group winners will take a 100% record through to the next round, with all runners up finishing on 6 points, all third placed teams on 3 points and all bottom teams going home without a single point.
Everything sticking to the script so far.
The QFs are looking like this...
South Korea v Uzbekistan
China v Australia
Iran v Group D runner up
Group D winner v UAE
