Our local rag is saying a championship team (Barnsley) have been refused permission to speak to Ainsworth. Wycombe fans is this true, if so is this merely the first step in a dance where you get compensation or is the idea dead and buried from the start?

Carlisle? Where do they come in the equation?
Can't knock the job Ainsworth has done though i believe at one time he wasn't well liked.
We were supposedly interested once upon a time but he did well to avoid our pantomine. Good luck if he goes, nice to see lower manager given a chance instead of usual foreign appointments made by the likes of Wednesday, Norwich, Forest

I know some people have got no time for Ainsworth and his particular style of football, but the fact is he's very good at getting results on ''supposedly'' a very average playing budget. Not sure if some Wycombe fans still want him out, but I reckon that'll be a big mistake.

They're 3rd...

Would they prefer tippy tappy football and being out of the automatic places?

Oh I know what I prefer, but apparently they do have - or did have - a minority of fans unhappy with his style*. I do get that - some fans want to see entertaining footy above all else - but I'm with those that reckon results are what ultimately matter.

*that's what a Wycombe fan told me last season after I asked him what he made of their manager so I don't know if this minority still want him gone now. I'm not sure but it seems to me their games have been highly entertaining affairs lately.

Don't think Wycombe need this at the moment at such a key stage of the season. Its been well documented that Ainsworth is working on a shoestring budget at Wycombe (well he does like to remind us now and again) and he may well be tempted to try his luck somewhere else where he has the funds to do the job he wants. Barnsley (if it is them) are a fairly stable club and one that would offer a good challenge. On the other hand Ainsworth may feel he wants to complete the job at Wycombe especially with the club being in such a strong position in the league. It would certainly improve his value should Wycombe get promoted. These kind of rumours and decisions can cause unrest at a club and I'm sure that is the reason the Wycombe board refused their approach and made it public. It all depends on how keen Barnsley are and how much Ainsworth want to stay. Don't think this is a over just yet.

Thne previous 4 seasons yes but he's changing our style more for attacking than grinding out an away point and as we're 3rd it's obviously working so i want him to stay,if he goes back to the previous seasons shit football then i'd wave him off.

Usual foreign appointments by Wednesday, we've made two non British appointments in our history.

Not sure Norwich have had too many either.

Forest who knows as they seem to have had more managers than us in recent times!

Surprise surprise, another foreign coach being appointed over a promising young Brit. Although Barnsley isn't that attractive to most promising young British managers. They also seem to have a system whereby they have a Head Coach rather than Manager, with no say in recruitment, which might put some off.

understandable, we get that a lot and I can imagine it's difficult for anyone to stop thinking about us long enough to focus on other things happening in the world of football.
