Very sad news. Die Hard is probably my favourite and most watched film ever. He has one of the most distinctive voices to have made TV.

RIP.

Absolutely loved him in Dogma and Harry Potter. Genuinely shocked and gutted by this.

He just had the perfect voice!

He has died from cancer aged 69. has to be one of our best ever actors in films like Harry Potter as Professor Snape and Die Hard as Hans Gruber and who can forget his acting in Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves? A sad loss to acting. RIP.

So sad to hear of the passing of one of Britain's greatest actors.

I hope "Truly, Madly, Deeply" is shown soon in tribute to the man. An exceptional performance from him and Juliet Stevenson in what was called the British "Ghost", but it is way, way better than that rubbish, a superb film and one I recommend people watch if they get the chance.

I also remember him for an exceptional performance as Eamon de Valera in "Michael Collins" and, as others have mentioned, in "Die Hard".

RIP

:(

Remember him doing some fine work with Beckett's stuff alongside Juliet Stevenson; but this is his magnum opus imo! ;)

Absolutely fucking shit week for death. Bowie on Monday, Rickman today and nearer to home, my Dad yesterday.

Death can FRO, big time.

EDIT: Sorry, shouldn't be putting my own woes on a thread dedicated to Alan Rickman. To quote one of my fellow female Dons supporters "apart from being such a fine actor, one of the few stars to have real sex appeal. The more sardonic he got, the more desirable." He certainly had the phwoar factor.

Yeah, this is rubbish. He was the best thing about most of the films he appeared in and was seemingly much-loved by those who knew him.

Really sorry about your Dad, Meadow  Hope you're bearing up ok (or as well as can possibly be expected) x

When it's your dad, mate, you do whatever the fuck you want.

My wife lost her mum, her gran and her dad in seven months in 2014. From experience, it's whatever gets you through. Chin up and as many best wishes as you like from this part of Cheshire.

Aye. Mum, Father-in-law and Dad all in the last 18 months. The Mother-in-law is indestructible.

On the bright side, my first grandchild is due at the end of next month.
