Hi guys,

I know what you're going to say straight away - "Go to the hospital"... that IS my plan, but I have 2 kids asleep and i'm the only one here to watch them with no one to contact until tomorrow!

Earlier tonight (about 10 hours ago now) I rolled my ankle off of my garden steps, and fell about 2ft to the ground next to the steps, landing on said rolled ankle.

It's swollen up to about twice it's original size, i've got shooting pains up and down my leg and around my knee (previously had knee surgery, slightly worried there), and over the last 2 hours it's spread to my lower back. I can put NO pressure on it at all.

I've got it elevated, I've got ice on it, I've taken Tramadol, and nothing is coming remotely close to easing the pain.

Seems silly to ask on here, but I know this place as WIDE range of people so i'm hoping someone will have some advice for me to atleast ease the pain until I can get to the hospital.

Cheers!

Guessing you've been able to go to A&E now?

Dont think there would have been anything you could do tbf. Aside from painkillers and ice there isn't anything you could do yourself!? Sounds like a trapped nerve plus a sprain or maybe a fracture?

Ps if you haven't already been to A&E then get on it and stop pocking it!

Possibly even dislocated it slightly

Didn't know you could dislocate an ankle...but then my medical knowledge on comes from a wee bit of biology, and then watching House and 24 hours in A&E.

Yeah you can, it's pretty nasty too. Yeah I only really know due to injuries I've had or my family/mates have had haha

Have you tried putting a plaster on it? If Peppa Pig can't make it better, I doubt A & E will.

Best you can do is keep elevated. When I bust my ankle I had to wait 8 hours to see anyone. Iburofen works great for me, but not other people.
Try and get some sleep and A&E when you get the first chance

If you can't put pressure on it at all A and E is the general rule of thumb. If you can walk but it is painful, wait to see if it goes away.

Morning everyone! 2 broken bones and torn ligaments.

Driving test next week too :( - Not anymore! 6-8 weeks out for me.

Thanks for the advice though! The peppa pig tablets worked a treat! (do you know how hard those are to find in Bradford!?)

Peppa Pig tablets? I suggested plasters, but if you found tablets and they helped, even better!
