Been difficult to see how others clubs are going what with the 3 Galacticos coming over all Billy Big Bollocks.

Looks like Vale have become sensible again and Colchester seemed to be recruiting well until they actually paid us money for Norris.

Cheltenham have been busy s. Other than that I ain’t got a clue what the rest are doing.

We’ve fallen into the talented young loanees trap again with a couple of punts. 4 more to come apparently - hope there’s some quality in there.

Delighted so far, we’ve done our business early for a change and it’s paid dividens.

Aspin has targeted our problem areas and addressed them with better quality, added in a few non league potentials and we are looking almost done.

We are looking to get Howkins back on loan which then would leave us in a strong position going into the season.

Goalkeeper issue... addressed with signing Scott Brown.

Lack of experience and vocal defenders we have signed Leon Legge

Ancient slow midfield with no legs signed Luke Joyce and Manny Oyeleke.

Striker wise we’ve signed Miller, Kanu and Quigley so have some competition for places now. Quigley and Miller likely to compete to partner Pope.

We are cautiously optimistic, the close season although we trusted Aspin has proven better than expected.

Kanu if he plays regularly would more likely be out on the wing at a guess though I’ve never seen him play so don’t know how suited he’d be to that.

Overall we look better than last year in all areas not that it would be a particularly hard thing to do. Can see top half as a realistic aim. Probably need another year before we can think of challenging for promotion.

Happy with our business so far, Jolley managed to get our useless 20 game winless team playing one touch football the last few games of last season so I'd like to think now he's got a load of his own players in we'll be much better this time.
To be realistic though, we could hardly get any fucking worse!

All according to plan - tighter budget, more use of home-grown youth as back-ups.

Out the door progress less successful from a fan's perspective but Joe Dunne's a great coach, so Azeez, Osadebe, Lewis and O'Neil may still come good with the dead hand of Derry a distant memory. Just need to avoid/deflect interest in George Maris and Jevani Brown until the window closes.

Half a dozen youngsters are a step nearer to fulfilling their L2 potential.

Regular loanee George Taft signed to continue alongside Greg Taylor in one of last season's better defence/keeper units and youngster Louis John replaces Leon legge.

Reggie Lamb replaces departing Piero Mingoia/Medy Elito.

Departure of Uche Ikpeazu (scored both goals in Hearts friendly yesterday) puts a lot of expectation on Jabo Ibhere (who had a lot of injury absences last season) and Barry Corr - who will be coaching and wrapped in cotton wool for mainly cameo sub appearances.

We look short of options for a main striker when injuries inevitably occur but the rest of the team/squad looks well suited for an upper mid table finish. Expect Jevani Brown and George Maris to be key to an enjoyable year, with Reggie Lambe and Jabo Ibhere needing to find a vein of form if we are to threaten the play offs.

No one west of the A1 and north of the A47 cares anyway.

Our main business was to tie down our young talent that impressed towards the end of the season which we did early on, then signed up Miller and Green, two experienced players who impressed on loan. We've also recently added more depth to the attack with Nicholls who seems a solid signing. Just leaves the full back positions to bolster, as long as we bring in someone in before our 1st game, I will be very pleased.

Still impossible to say really. There are still 4 or 5 players that I don't know if they are staying or not. Its not clear what formation we'll have either. Huddersfield on Tuesday so we should get a better idea hopefully. Just got to have faith in Ryan that he knows what he's doing after 2 dreadful seasons.

Delighted, Jolley should have a team to sow up 12th place by Jan, be happy with that after the calamity of Slade.

Happy on the whole with the players we've brought in. Need at least one striker who can function as a target man, probably two more forwards, given Waring doesn't seem under consideration even as a squad player. Also another wide player with pace and probably a further tough-tackling play breaker in midfield.

We won’t sign two strikers.

Maybe a striker and a winger, plus a centre mid and that’ll be that.

Really hard to work out where we’ll fit in this season as I’ve no idea of the standard of the league. Initial expectation is somewhere between 5th to 10th.

Don't believe the hype guys, we only have 17 players under contract at the mo.
So as the manager wants 22, 5 more to sign then but so far looks promising.
Still defenders required and a couple in the attacking areas.
We currently have four on trial.

11 in (2 loans) 18 out (3 loans ended 1 out on loan) so far for us, so another quite big overhaul. Only 1 player (Doidge) left from the squad that got us promoted.

Best signings on paper are probably Carl Winchester (cm Cheltenham) Liam Shephard (rb Posh) and George Williams (w/fw Fulham). Hopefully Lloyd James (cm Exeter) will be as well despite some of the negative comments from Grecians as he's come in to replace Isaiah Osbourne who was massive for us.

Given we'd already rebuilt half the squad in January we've now brought in a few more proven EFL players to add to that so on paper we now look like we've got a side capable of playing at this level. Pretty happy so far.

Is Reid still at FGR, or was that just a loan deal last season?
We went 20 games without a win and still stayed up, which should give you a bit of a clue.
23 wasn't it?

Agree with the above Town comments. I don't think we have any stand out players really and there are question marks over where goals will come from, but I think we'll be hard to beat and that BP will become a bit of a fortress. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Welsh battering the fuck out Lincoln's midfield in August.

Yeah Reid's still here, been quality since he's joined. If we can keep Doidge we've got a pretty good front line I reckon.

We've not done much this summer, leaving it late to appoint a manager and having a tight budget, we've brought in four players so far to bring our senior squad to a massive 15, one of whom is unlikely to return from injury before the opening day. Plenty of gaps still to fill, but Sheridan is finding recruitment hard going because of the budget, and, as he puts it, players' unrealistic expectations in holding out for a bigger club to come in for them.

Nah it was 'just' the 20. :conf:
12 under Slade, 3 Wilkinson and 5 Jolley.

The already promoted 3? Bear in mind this simple equation -

loads of ins/outs = more time to gel.

It’s a piss take

Oh I knew that, but I thought I'd remind people that new squads need more time to gel than more or less settled ones. I reckon far too fans look at clubs and the number of new signings they make and instantly assume said club/s are in for a good year.

We'd all be rich men by now - and bookies out of business - if this were the case.

“Billy big bollocks” yep Dan it’s been non-stop boasting and incesent showing off from all us Notts fans :dk:

There’s plenty of clubs who could who could/should be involved in the mix at the top of the table . It’s the 4th tier after all

I’m not quite as optimistic as the other vale fans on here, 3 signings seem good, the rest fall into the chancer category for me.
A few injuries and there’s a possibility that Tonge , Pugh and Kay play.
I’d be well happy with mid table.

We appear to have sorted out our defence, which was hands down our Achilles heel last season. We actually have a left and right back with Football League experience - although neither have had rave reviews (I always judge them in a Cheltenham shirt first).

The big worry is up-top now, we needed support for Mo if he was going to stay in the first place - let's face it he was never going to stay - but now official bids have been put on the table it's a matter of time before he's off and we now need at least two forwards. In our local rag this week it was intimated that we were in for Akinde, but did't follow it through. That's exactly the type of player we need to be looking at.

May be in some difficulty then. Norwood is nailed on for a ban at some stage of the season, if that coincides with Mullin or the other striker being injured, or out of form, then running out of options. Waring, who I thought would be a squad player is out of favour and while Jennings/Cole/Tollitt could be tried up front it's a risky strategy. Don't know if the youngster Walker-Rice has any chance of forcing his way into the squad, scored a good goalin the Dunfermline friendly. MM in his post-match remarks highlighted the lack of squad depth and arguably we need to recruit 4 or 5 more.

Pleased with our signings so far. We now have a stronger side than the one that struggled last season. While I don't think we will trouble the top three, I can see us finishing comfortably in mid table, and there's still a signing or two to come.
