It’s hotting up in the race for the top 3, how are we feeling about this one?

Get the impression Cambridge fans are feeling confident going into this one and they should be off the back of 4 wins in a row.

Having done a 500+ mile round trip and played a hard game on a heavy pitch on Tuesday there’s the obvious possibility that we could be leggy going into this, and with so many Sat/Tues games in a row (7 this month) it’d be difficult to blame the boys if they are tired in truth.

May be a case of just giving it what we have left, seeing what we can get and then having a week to recover again before travelling to Bradford.

I’m hoping you are leggy and that we can capitalise. We’re a long way short of being a good side but we are a lot better than we were, and as you say we’re confident too. I’d be delighted with a draw and I feel we can get it but wouldn’t be surprised if we lose.

Incidentally, if we do avoid defeat tomorrow and beat Carlisle next weekend then I will firmly believe we’re in with an outside shot of the play offs.

Agree with Laker bar one thing, and that is that we're not that long way off being a good side as I've always felt that far too many L2 players and the clubs they play for are too much of a muchness really, and a lot hinges on confidence or lack of. A lot of things have changed from 1998/99 but I remember thinking at the time that our squad wasn't a top 5 one (on paper) and yet we only lost out on the title on the final day.

Saying that a lot hinges on Samir Carruthers not getting injured again as his influence in the middle of the park is vital for us. Same goes for Idris El Mizouni and Jack Roles as well, esp the former IMO.

I think our little winning run will be coming to an end at Plymouth. They didn't impress me much when we beat them at the Abbey but 90 mins of football is not enough to form an opinion on a fellow L2 side.

Plymouth 3 U's 1.

I’d say most of our fans are Confident but also level headed enough to say that a draw would be an good result, we’re too big a price at 15/4 that’s for sure.

We actually seem to have a selection headache for Bonner which is a good thing especially in the top half of the pitch.

I think we’ll pinch it 1-2 and the play off charge will continue(disclaimer I’m never right with predictions)

What a dull game. Cambridge had a plan and we simply were not good enough to break them down. We only looked more threatening when Cooper came on. Both sides had a cast ironed penalty in front of me waved away. In the first Canavan got on the wrong side of a fairly innocuous punt and really should have been sent off. The second was a very clear hand ball to a shot going towards the goal (doubt it would have gone in mind). I think it was Carruthers who was a very very lucky boy and should have got a second caution, I think it was Sarce was on and he just took him out. Ref bottled that one.

I do not know what the question is, but Bakinson is not yet the answer. And he should have been cautioned for a very clear dive in the penalty area.

Personally, I did not appreciate Cambridge’s homage to Tom Daley, and appreciated even less that the Ref kept falling for such an obvious ploy.

Without having been there, it sounds like we made it awkward and kept it tight then didn’t create a lot. We ceded a lot possession but had two golden chances (the penalty not given and missed chance in the second half). Given where we were a month ago, I’ll take us tightening up and trying to nick something at a side like Plymouth even if it was ugly. In the past we’d have lost that 3-0.

I can’t comment on the diving and it’s not mentioned on our board at all but it is definitely possible - I’ve seen the exact thing at ours from away sides and I don’t like it.

Anyway onwards we go. Beat Carlisle next weekend and it’s been a hell of a month.

Cambridge came for a point and created absolutely nothing apart from a couple breakaways in the latter stages of the second half.

Fair play your defence were solid and I particularly liked number 16, anything that came in the box he hoofed away. We should of had a penalty in the second half but so should of you in the first so can’t complain.

We just couldn’t find that spark. Needed George Cooper on 10 minutes earlier in my opinion. Good chance to rest up after a busy schedule and go again at Bradford next week.

And that is why I am not convinced we will be automatics. We are good, but not yet that good.

Loads of ways to play the beautiful game and setting the side up to contain the opposition is one of them. And we all know that it also frustrates the home fans, and frustration in the home stands is very helpful to the away side. It's not pleasing on the eye, that's for sure, but it works.

Anyway, way I see it is that it could've been worse for Plymouth if the ref didn't bottle that clear cut penno and sent off their lad as well, cos we probably would've taken all 3 points then.

We also could of had a pen late in the second half, so it’s even.

True, but no sorry, it's not even. We could've gone in at ht 1 nil up and you would've had to come at us with only 10 men for the rest of the game. That's always going to leave you vulnerable to quick breakaways from the side with 11 men out on the pitch.

Maybe if the lad actually tried to score instead of worrying about Canavan behind him, he might of scored. That’s why the ref didn’t give it.

I'd like to see you get a shot away with him on your back.

Interesting we created nothing apart from the best chances in the game. Plymouth had a lot of the ball but created very little in terms of clear cut chances.

It was a stonewall penalty and a red card so Plymouth should be delighted with the point.

Plymouth are a shithouse team. They dont deserve to be anywhere near the promotion spots.
