Tin pot

Nathan Baker is a doubt for Aston Villa's first home game of the Sky Bet Championship season against Rotherham.

The defender came off with a head injury in their 3-1 EFL Cup defeat at Luton on Wednesday and will be assessed.

Ross McCormack is likely to make his home debut after signing from Fulham for B#12million and is chasing his first goal after two scoreless games.

Tommy Elphick, Pierluigi Gollini and Aaron Tshibola are also in line for their home bows after signing in the summer.

Rotherham will be without skipper Lee Frecklington as he will miss the next two weeks with a calf injury.

The midfielder limped out of last weekend's season opener against Wolves with the problem and is set for a short spell in the treatment room.

Kirk Broadfoot (hamstring) and Joe Mattock (knee) also came off against Wolves but are expected to be fit.

Boss Alan Stubbs, who is set to include new signing Darnell Fisher in his squad, is hoping to bring in two players in time for the Millers' first league meeting with Villa since 1972.

Any Rotherham fans (and Villa fans I guess) attending this who are hanging around after the game head to the Aston Tavern, some very good friends of mine playing a gig there straight after the game, the lead singer is a Blues fan, he'll need all the friends he can get!!! :lol:

Yep, good win and could of easily of been more. Hopefully that win will settle us down. More of the same v Huddersfield and I will be a happy man. I think going forward this season we will be very dangerous. Good crowd at the villa today as well so the fans are behind them.

First win in 6 months.... Sincere thanks to you, Rotherham for being so shit. I'd forgotten what a win felt like.

:bdick::giphy::milk::sb::db::hesk:

Aye we certainly helped you win that game with the constant diabolical defending we keep doing lately, 1st goal we were in possession of the ball when 3 of our players got in way of each other for Villa to counter and score from a header he should never have got to, we were too static for the 2nd goal even though it was a good move between McCormack and Gestede and the 3rd goal was just comical defending from just about everybody including the keeper, how can we allow 1 player to run through our entire defence without anyone getting anywhere near him and Lee Camp threw himself to floor far too easy, he was made to look silly by Grealish.

We desperately need our injured players back and more bodies in because the current line up atm wouldn't cope in the division below nevermind this league. 2 forwards needed, 1 left back and Newell, Belaid, Frecklington, Broadfoot back from injured asap.

Was impressed with the Villa fans yesterday they certainly are premier league fans, dont get many home fans where everybody gets behind their team around the stadium which Villa did yesterday. The Holte End was noisy and the bottom tier behind the opposite goal near the away fans were noisy as well. Our fans were piss poor just like the team, no much vocal backing and didnt even sell the allocation even though it was only few dotted seats, normally were louder than that at away games but it was shocking yesterday.
