Know this is always difficult to work out in August, but here goes...

Sat 6/8 - Plymouth Argyle (A) - Two teams that should be fighting it out for the top positions come the Spring. Could be a good time to play the Pilgrims; I fancy a tight draw.
Wed 10/8 - Aston Villa (H) - EFL Cup 1st Round - Hard to say what sort of team Villa will send. In front of the TV cameras I'd fancy our chances, although the visitors should come through eventually. Loss.
Sat 13/8 - Yeovil Town (H) - First home league game, so should be a cracking atmosphere, although our home form last season was a lot to be desired. The visitors are expected to struggle again, so I'd fancy us to win relatively comfortably.
Tue 16/8 - Newport County (H) - Again, another game which we should be looking to win.
Sat 20/8 - Stevenage (A) - The Boro seem to have recruited relatively well this summer. Should be another volatile atmosphere. Luton have never lost at Broadhall Way, so I'm going for another win.
Sat 27/8 - Cambridge United (A) - The Us have recruited well again this summer and should be pushing for the play offs. I'd happily take a point if offered. Draw.
Tue 30/8 - EFL Trophy Matchday 1 - No interest.

For Crewe:

Stevenage A - Loss. We always lose on the opening day, we've never beaten Stevenage, have a poor squad and a terrible manager.
Sheff Utd(League Cup) A - Loss. We might take it into extra time as we usually raise our game at Brammall Lane, but we'll lose in the end.
Portsmouth H - Loss. Pompey will be one of the better sides this season and should blow our hapless lot away. Narrow 2-1 defeat.
Hartlepool H - Win. Pressure on big time. Think we might pull a result out of our arses. Lose and things will turn nasty.
Newport A - Loss. A game we should be getting something from, but I don't think we will. Couple of goal loss.
Cheltenham A - Draw. Might be able to scrap out a result here, not sure what to expect from Cheltenham. But think we might draw.
Accrington(Trophy) A - Loss. Couldn't give 2 shits about this, but we'll lose.

So yeah, if we emerge from this month with anything more than 4 points and wins in either of the cups, then I'll be surprised.

Portsmouth v Carlisle

Loss - toughest first match you could ask for really. Heart says we could nick a draw but in reality we'll almost certainly lose.

Carlisle v Port Vale
Tue 9 Aug
Win - we played Port Vale in the first round last time at their place. Awful match, neither team could be bothered winning and only a scrappy goal for them won it. Expecting it to be 0-0 for most of the match here but we've been alright in cups recently so hopefully can nick this.

Carlisle v Plymouth
Sat 13 Aug
Win - with this being the first non-farcical home match hopefully the attendance should be alright. Close match on paper but one we should be winning to lay down a marker if we're hoping to get top 3. I feel like we're not too well equipped for defending set pieces still, if that's sorted out we've got to be favourites for this.

Carlisle v Cheltenham

Draw - no idea what Cheltenham are like after their season away so I'll stick down the middle. Again, one any top 3 hopeful should be dominating but you never know. Cheltenham fans seems overly confident about their chances this season so it'd be nice to welcome them back to the league with a resounding beating.

Cambridge v Carlisle

Loss - Cambridge have recruited well, not sure about their manager but they'll be a good match for us for sure. This'll be our first away match since Portsmouth which most likely won't be to our benefit.

Barnet v Carlisle
Sat 27 Aug
Win - expecting long ball for this one; still got bad/good memories of them battering us and us winning last season. As with Plymouth, if we can sort the defence out beyond how they've done in pre-season then I think our attack should be too much for them.

Cheltenham (A) - Loss. Lamented ex-1FF poster Nolan's Orient's arrogance will rub off on the players and we'll sleepwalk to a narrow defeat.

Fulham (H) EFL Cup - loss. We'll give the second XI a run out. It won't be too pretty. Ollie Palmer sent off.

Newport (H) - Draw. A dire 0-0 in which the Welsh relegation cannon fodder successfully 'park the bus'. Andy Yessenthaler gets relieved of his duties.

Stevenage (H) - win. Caretaker manager Andy Edwards starts with a win by playing our all-conquering youth team instead of the pros. Becchetti hands him a five year contract.

Grimsby (A) - Loss. Our third consecutive game against relegation-haunted sides sees a grim defeat at the hands of an inspired Omar Bogle hat-trick. Bogle doesn't score for the rest of the season. Andy Edwards is fired and Becchetti finally cuts out the middle men and appoints himself manager.

Mansfield (H) - Abandoned due to the presence of a giant, immovable pile of turd taking up half the pitch. Adam Murray resolves never to pick Darius Henderson again.

Stevenage (H) EFL Trophy - fuck off. #boycott

Derby v Grimsby (EFL Cup) - LOSE.
Wycombe v Grimsby - DRAW.
Colchester v Grimsby - LOSE.
Grimsby v Orient - DRAW.
Grimsby v Stevenage - DRAW.

I fancy us to beat Morecambe but we always start seasons with plenty of draws so 3 in the first month for me.
