Away fans ticket prices

Does the price of the away ticket affect whether you travel or not?

Next season the Stags will be charging £22 for an adult ticket.

Last season it was £20.

An extra £2 won't make a difference to most. The cost of getting there, the cost of food and drink and everything else dwarfs the cost of a ticket normally.

Saying that, it's too bloody expensive.

It certainly has an effect. Also things people take in to consideration are distance, travel cost, travel time, personal disposable income at the time, and also I always prefer going to new grounds I've not visited before so on the occasion I have the opportunity I don't mind paying a bit more.
£22 for league two isn't too bad. What upsets me is the different category games. Being a fan of Pompey we always seem to be a top tier game for most of the opposing league two sides

£22 for away fans. The best bit is It's £22 without some stupid Membership card to sit in the Home end behind our goal now yet it's cheaper to sit in the Lower tier or it's £22 in the Upper tier. So we are just screwing football fans.

You're right, last 2 seasons we have reduced Morecambe at home to 5 quid and then 10, they must love coming here , why they picked 12 for your visit is a mystery..... I think we had 4 reduced this year, apparantly your only allowed a certain amount, I'm amazed more don't do it cos certainly last year when it was a fiver v Morecambe and we were a goal down and a man down at half time the crowd really were the proverbial 12th man ( or was it 11th man) anyway you get my point

I agree - we're bringing it in next season. However, with so many sell outs, we had to do something to reduce demand (slightly, in a peverse way) and at the same time maximise revenue. For our game v Portsmouth, we could've sold at least another 3-4,000.

I will find next season that I will probably do the northern clubs (York, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Notts Co, Northampton and Cambridge) and probably give the most of the rest a miss, unless it's a big game.

I'll probably end up doing about 4 sides for the weekend - one will almost certainly be Bristol (providing a weekend) as mates live down there, probably Portsmouth, one of the the London clubs and 1 or 2 more depending on the fixtures/season etc.

In short, the travel cost, hotel, food drink etc as mentioned is going to be a fair amount for those games, so a few extra £ won't make too much of a difference.

I do feel that we are slowly sleepwalking into an abyss though.

One thing mentioned on Stagsnet was how alarmed some fans were over the lack of young fans and that we were all slowly becoming an older set of fans - I wonder if anyone else has noted such a thing

Paying £24+ for league 2 football is bollocks. Its not like we are paying for entertainment, the quality of football most weeks is not amazing lets face it. We are paying because we love our local clubs! As stated above an extra £2 isnt going to drive me to the poor house. But most of my Premier league supporting mates wont travel further than 50 miles for a game if they have to pay for near £50 for fuel, food and a few beers. Especially when one of the top 4 will likely be on TV at 12:45 or 17:30 that day.

The issue I have with these discussions is there's so many variables, how anyone can say "League 2 football should never cost more than £x" is beyond me. A club in London will probably have more overheads than a club up north. Some clubs own their own grounds, others rent. Some get receipts from sales in the ground, some don't. To put a static figure on the whole league is ludicrous.

Our Advance prices for away fans are:

South Stand (Seating): Adults £19, Concessions £13, Under 17's £9
Habbin Terrace if open): Adults £16, Concessions £11, Under 17's £6

For the last few seasons my ticket costs (home and away) fell as I dropped into the seniors bracket. Our senior concession used to be >60 and has just moved from >62 to >63. On away trips, it seems to range from >60 (Rotherham) to >65 (most Premier League clubs).

Particular thanks to Poolies, who's refund brought my away ticket down to £10 - easing the pain significantly.

I think we are about OK in terms of age spread.

One thing that impressed me when I called in on Burnley v Chelsea on the way to our match at York last summer was the number of young fans at Turf Moor. Their pricing has been really creative.

They offer Senior and U22 for £24/£25 (£35/£40 adult), along with U18 £17/£18, U12 £10/£15 and U10 £5. Cheapest season tickets are:
