Such a shame. Local game to me, good mate has a ST up there, and history between us. I'll miss you!

Sorry to see it happen to Bradford, when we departed League 1 it looked like a matter of time for you to go on up to the Championship. Guess we weren't the only fuck-up merchants of the teams promoted from here in 2013 after all. Supported Vale since 1990 and would say there is probably at most about 5 or 6 seasons we haven't been in the same division in that time. Only other one that is in that ballpark is probably Swindon.

Bradford is a good game, but likewise I’m hopeful we’re not here

From a purely selfish POV, I hope you stay down. Never been to Field Mill - I imagine its a decent away day, generally.

What’s gone wrong this year, don’t take much notice of League 1 but seem to recall Bradford challenging for play offs most years they were in there?

It can be decent if the police are not OTT - plenty of decent pubs nearby and the stand/facilities are good enough for away fans too.

Nottinghamshire Police don’t like anybody travelling in decent numbers though!

I suppose it depends on which City fan you ask, but most would say it was due to Edin Rachic, the joint-owner up until he departed in Nov last year.

He took control of everything, and wanted a say in tactics and signings. McCall, our manager at the time was one game away from the Championship - eventually losing out to Millwall with a late winner (offside an’all) at Wembley.

The next season we were in the top five, up until the Jan transfer window, where we lost 6 games on the trot. Some fans at the time were calling for McCalls head, but most wont admit it to this day. Although McCall did very well with the resources he had at his disposal, you can’t lose six games on the trot at any level - so the dismissal was the correct decision at the time, in my honest opinion.

However, we couldn’t have predicted what would happen from there. We slipped out of the play-offs, after being in the top six for what was 2 and a half seasons and eventually finished mid table.

This season, we ‘went for it’ - signing good names on paper, but we hadn’t even established who our manager was going to be - and yet Edin too full control of recruitment and overspent by £2m (our playing budget this season is over £5.5m). I still believe we have a great squad of players, but it just hasn’t worked out for one reason or another.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to next season. New grounds, different teams to face and who knows, we might just win a few games. We need to ship out a few players, and recruit carefully - but I have every faith in Gary Bowyer to turn this around.

Season Tickets still selling well - just over 13,500 sold - so the club knows the fans are still on side, even though we’ve been served up some right shite over the past 18 months.

Roll on July!

Aye, I missed the chance to go the last time we met in 07/08. I recall it falling on a Tues/Wed night.

Hopefully you stay down. Sorry mate x

I have a feeling Bradford will bounce back next season or the one after. Always like a trip to Valley Parade though, providing we don't go up

There’s no way we’ll threaten the relegation zone again. The Chairman behind destroying us from L1 Play off finalist to L2 in the space of two seasons has since left, one of the old chairman we had the last time we were down here is back in a similar role, and now a manager in Gary Bowyer who bounced Blackpool straight back.
These are both positives (although Bowyers record so far here is dire), though I suspect the hangover will stretch into next season. We’ve been told we’ll have a decent budget but we carry so much dead wood into next season you could cry. I think 8-10th will be us next season.

Crazy ST sales regardless of price, I've got a lot of respect for your club's pricing strategy. Looking forward to this away day next season, and I'm sure you'll be there or thereabouts at the end of it.

Will your fans turn up though?

Whereas I appreciate they’re numbers out of Mansfield’s reach I remember going to a fabulously entertaining 4-3 win over Shrewsbury back in jan/feb time when they announced 14,000 or so and it was probably closer to 7,000.

Whether it be Bradford or anyone else, I’ve never understand clubs doing that

Was that this season - the Tuesday night affair?

There was significantly more than 7k in the ground, but yes, It was probably nearer 11k-12k.

I see both sides with this debate. After all, that is how many tickets were sold for the game.
