We never could as Newport had to put on league winning form until the end of the season and we definitely won't now.
Nugnet still has loads of work to do before he'll convince anyone but perhaps the team will now play with some freedom from fear.

I'd really like to be here posting about how great it was to finally get a win and how lovely and bright and brilliant the day was. But despite the 3 goals and points, we were utter, utter turd for 70 minutes of that game. Actual shit. We relied on a great strike from Weston and a complete meltdown from Cheltenham after that to let us win.

I don't even know where to start on those first 70 minutes. Yeah we played into the wind - that's the only excuse. It was awful. The players had no confidence or plan, there was no understanding... well I'm just repeating the same shit from previous weeks. The boos at half time were some of the loudest I've ever heard at Barnet. Deservedly so. And the second half was no better.

One thing I will focus on are our fans in general. There are some genuine fucking idiots in our support. Who thinks that booing a player after he takes a poor free kick is going to do anything but make him resent the fans and/or knock his confidence even further? Watson played shit but the focused and sustained stick he got from large sections of our fanbase was embarrassing. Then those same people are cheering like nothing happened at full time. Fickle. Hope they're reading this.

As for the prick who was sitting in the top corner of the A block in the Wast stand... give it a rest. Think Watson must've had a good night with his wife or daughter or something the rate he was giving it out. He was even blaming shouting abuse at Watson when Tutonda shanked it out for a corner... impressive to get those two mixed up!

Cheltenham collapsing was the only reason we got anything today (and the Weston sub admittedly). The performance itself was as abject as all of the others under Nugent, if not worse. We're on a sharp decline.

So, it sounds like we played with no shape whatsoever as in previous matches? We just have to hope that Weston's return will make a positive change to that.

Russell Milton could take us down. He's a fantastic bloke, a Cheltenham legend, but he is not a manager. He cannot motivate the players, he's tactically inept and whilst Gary Johnson being healthy is the most important thing over anything, my biggest worry was Russ being put in charge.

We'd looked to have turned the corner with our 4 decent results without conceding, but Johnson's heart issues could lead us to be the first team to be relegated back to the Conference after promotion.

It's a record I suppose.

Cheltenham are a very bad side on that showing. Looked like two teams playing out a relegation 6 pointer.

We were awful for 70 minutes and still won it by 2 clear goals. Nugent has kept saying that one win can see us turn the corner. Well, we were gifted one, so let's see what this does.
