Hignett continues to talk bollocks about his super formation and how solid we look, despite conceding the second most goals in the league and 3 wins in 20 something matches :animatedf:

Glass legs Bates won't be fit, Rob Jones has seemingly turned to dust and blown away, would like to see Harrison back in at CB and Donnelly RB, he's already said he's sticking with one upfront so I guess the team will be..

Carson
Donnelly Toto Harrison Carroll
Allesandra Laurent Featherweight Hawkins Thomas
Amond

As for the score?

The formation is working much better away from home than at VP - so I don't see any reason to change it for this game.

3 wins from 7 away from home is a decent return. Only the 6-1 at Stevenage has been a poor performance, and the formation has seen us outplay Plymouth and Carlisle on their own soil.

Think he will go with the same team as Saturday if Bates and Jones aren't fit. Richards has had a couple of half decent games since he was put right back, and Harrison is dog meat.

Fancy us to win this one. 3-1 in a repeat of last year. Thomas, Amond and Allessandra each getting 1. Akinde (Pen) for them.

What Tom said except I'd put Woods in for Featherstone if he's fit. Bit more mobility and a tackle in him than Featherstone.

I'd say 0-2, Thomas and Laurent.

Muggles to surpass his long throw record that he set at Rodney Parade on Tuesday..

Toto to have a nightmare against Akinde but we'll lose.

1-3 like last season but Allen will keep his job somehow.

I recommend bringing a pillow. If you watch the game it will prevent neck ache, if you don't then you may as well be comfy.

All teams outplay us as we don't bother trying to keep the ball or using this antiquated concept of passing. we play for territorial advantage by throwing\ booting the ball as far up the pitch as is humanly possible.

Our formation will be 6-0-4 , why waste players in midfield if you don't use that area of the pitch.

Vickers
Vilhete Sesay Nelson Champion N'Gala Muggleton

I'm not Harrison's biggest fan either but Richards had his undies pulled over his head last weekend, the lad tries hard but isn't league standard, we saw on Saturday Donnelly and Toto got bullied by Palmer that's why I'd play another physical CB alongside Toto and push Donnelly to RB.

I'm not sure we've got one though Chief. Bates and Jones have been out since 1998 and that leaves, gulp, Harrison or the young 'un. Martin? Not the one to put up against Akinde.

This new lad Assenso more of a CB or a CM, do we know?

I don't think I could even point out the likes of Martin/Orrell/Pollock barely had a whiff between them.

Despite the transfer window not being open , we've signed 2 centre backs this week ....we will just put them in the back of the cupboard with the 5 attackers we have and play the same team for the 15th game in a row and hope it all works out ....

I sent Higgy a text and he agreed to use my team selection, top man :P1:

Edit: Only we appear to have cloned Carroll, didn't account for that one! and 8 subs :animatedf:

Meanwhile Martin Allen has resorted to the Lucky Dip method of team selection.

Definitely Akinde plus 9 others for outfield

Vickers;
Vilhete, N'Gala, Nelson (c), Dembele;
Kyei, Champion, H. Taylor, Gambin;
Tomlinson, Akinde.

No long throws and a couple of players who can run with the ball. Tomlinson re-appears from out of no where. Not sure why he persists with Dembele at left back, it doesnt work.

I just have a bad feeling that if this doesn't work out, it will give MA the justification to revert to Hoofball and Superthrow.

Ok Pools, get a winger to run at Dembele. Match won. He's amazing at CB, but on the side he's not good.

There's going to be so much time added onto this. Referee is having a shocker but Hartlepool are pulling some Wycombe-esque tactics out here

Absolutely fucking fuming. That's 5 red cards this season and TWENTY fucking points thrown away from winning positions. Now we're only a point off the drop. Hello again. Just fucking relegate us this time and be done with it.

I think Hignett needs to have a serious think tonight, is he the man to take us forward because I dont think he's good enough, can talk a great game but his ability as a manager is severely lacking.

Just when you think this football club is finally back on the right track, this happens in fact the last few games too, fuck me we have stupidly chucked away so many points this season and it is Hignett's doing with some of the decision making of the players thrown in. The players he's brought in might have some talent but dear god, have a football brain the collective size of one of Bill Oddie's bird seeds.

Thrown away 20 points from winning positions this season, more red cards than wins, 4 wins in 25 games, last home win April 2016, Hignett set his sights high this season and even said finishing 10th wouldn't be good enough, I bet he'd snap your hand off for it now.

Edit 2016 I'm an idiot

Hmmm... according to the Nothern Echo, the referee told the players on the pitch he'd forgotten about the new double jeopardy rule and shouldn't have sent Donnelly off but it was too late. I can't imagine that going down too well with Hignett.

Having said that, 20 points lost from winning positions means instead of looking towards the play-offs, we're looking towards relegation. Defence is weak and we collapse too easily.

To be fair, you were a class above for 60 mins (not that that says much against us) and looked like blowing us away. A normal, run of the mill Akinde chance (only come about because done the usual throw 4 attackers on) and he had his legs taken away, clear red and pen. After that you fell apart, we grew in confidence but there was no organisation at all. You seemed shell shocked.

Akpa-Akpro was outstanding today. Wish he started rather than a sub.

Today's performance hasn't convinced me. We were still shit and relied on a mistake from them to turn the match. Without that we were down and out.

Mistake or not how do we just crumble going a man down, how many times have we seen teams just shut up shop and defend for their lives, Hignett didn't even make a defensive change after going down to 10 men, he waited until Thomas got stretchered off almost 10 minutes later before doing anything.

He wanted to bring Richards on as soon we conceded. Carson signalled that we wanted to bring a sub on whilst he was taking a goal kick but got yellow carded as they referee thought he was time wasting. Thomas then got injured, it took ages to find a stretcher and when they did find one it had loads of shit on it which they had to take off.... took ages for him to come off, hence the ten min delay.
