Interested in thoughts of other league 1 supporters, having seen a couple of keeper errors from highlights this weekend?

From what I saw last season the Cov keeper Reece Charles-Cook hit both of these categories... away he was awful and we should of punished him on more than one occasion.

At Vale Park he played like Gordon Banks and made one of the best saves i've seen live.

Hard to judge just from seeing them once or twice but at GP Southends goalkeeper, Gillinghams and Swindons all looked pathetic. Oldhams and Shrewsburys looked quite good.

Oxley started out absolutely awful and was hundred percent the worst in the league then when the team picked up he got some confidence and drastically improved he is now injured and it looks like he is out for the season. Since he got injured Ted Smith former England at various ages keeper has come in and is doing very well he also looks like hes got some confidence in contrast to when he played the back end of last season when we was shite. He needs to beef up a bit and get more vocal if he does that I imagine he will follow in Dan Bentley's footsteps to higher levels.

Swindon's keeper in both games against us has been astounding and rightfully won MOM in both games.

Hard to judge 'keepers sometimes, there are a lot who stand out in poor teams because they can show off their shot stopping ability, when in fact their all round game is pretty shite. Chris Maxwell came to PNE from Fleetwood with average-to-good reviews yet he's been class for us in the league above, definition of sweeper keeper.

The better keepers are usually the ones who avoid having to make wonder saves.

Joe Lumley is the best, of course.

Alnwick was absolutely class for us this season before his move to Rangers... put it this way under Bruno we were often battered in games (15 shots against for e.g. was common) and made strings of wonder saves to keep us in games at times.

Can't wrap my head around that last comment.

The best keepers are the ones who are not only able to make saves you wouldn't expect an average joe to make, but to also do the basics consistently well, and be able to have more effect on a result other than stopping the ball go in the net.

Distribution, being commanding, making your defenders feel comfortable bla bla.

I wouldn't say regularly stopping some 30 yard howitzer hitting the top bin puts you in a bad light.

Schmeichel regularly made worldies. As do Neuer, Lloris and the like now.

Not sure what there is to understand, maybe I should have said 'numerous' wonder saves, but shot stopping is the bare minimum I expect from a goalkeeper.

The best goalies don't make loads of saves because they organise their defence, claim crosses and deal with dangerous situations before a shooting situation even arises.

We used to have Andy Lonergan for example who was dogshit, great shot stopper but most of the time, he was forced into a one on one situation because he never left his 6 yard box, or dealt with crosses coming into the area. Plenty of crap keepers are able to make impressive saves.

Nelson was terrible for the first 10 or so games, but has been ok since then. The worst was probably Chesterfield's last tuesday night, but not once have i considered a keeper in this league as anything better than fine.

Vigoroux is awful. His own manager says he can't play if the crowd is noisy and our players have identified him as a weak link that means we will always beat them. Worst in the league by miles.

Our keeper is the best, not even biased.

Worst is Coventry's - truly abysmal.
We have been saying this for two years, yet every position except the goalie has been replaced.Three managers have completely ignored this problem area and this has to be looked at for next season slugfest in league two.
Both our keepers are conference north/south standard at best and they have cost us so many points these last two seasons.
The one good game RCC has had was at PV last season, Burge has yet to have a good game. Both are so indecisive you have to look away anytime the ball goes near them.
So we have the two worst keepers in league one.

RCC is worse than burge and definitely is a contender for worst keeper in the league.

RCC flaps at everything and has biscuit wrists. Our fans tend to give him a pass cos he tweets a lot which pretty much sums up our fan base.

Colin Doyle certainly isn't the worse but you can tell every now and again why he cost £1

It was very strange. We released him a few years ago and then he went to Nuneaton and somehow ends up signing for you. I think he's a non-league keeper myself.

Need a new keeper? Im sure the board at Rovers will mutually release Will Puddy, I will even drive him my self how does Wednesday sound?

He has been awful against us this season and last season. Obviously don't know about other games so he may have been far better then. Your manager will have to give him earplugs so the noisy crowds don't put him off in the future.

"Goalkeeper Connor Ripley currently has the most clean sheets in Sky Bet League One.

The stopper, on loan from Premier League side Middlesborough, leads the way in League One with 13 clean sheets in 33 games.

He is two ahead of the chasing pack, with Sheffield United's Simon Moore and Scunthorpe United's Luke Daniels on 11 for the season.

Former Athletic goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has 10 clean sheets for the season, sharing the same number with MK Dons' David Martin, Oxford United's Simon Eastwood and Millwall's Jordan Archer.

There are only two goalkeepers in the country who have kept more clean sheets than Ripley this season.

Derby County's Scott Carson leads the way with 16 clean sheets this season, which is three more than Ripley, whilst Brighton's David Stockdale has kept 15.

Ripley shares 13 clean sheets with Portsmouth's David Forde and Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois.

Keep up the good work, Connor!"

Debate settled

Based on clean sheets last season, Ben Williams would've been the best keeper in the league for most of it (not sure if we finished with the most) and that's definitely not true

It's almost like applying team statistics to absolute and arbitrary statements about individual players is a very pointless endeavour.
