Title says it all.

Who do you think are some of the stand out players in League 2 going into the new season?

For us either Mr Consistency Louis Reed or professional wind up merchant Harry McKirdy.

Obviously hoping Trelford scores lots again this season for us and I do think Joel Lynch is too good for this division but the league overall I'm not sure.

Watching the ins and outs on the other thread I'm sure the division is stronger overall but I think k the Individual players who can light up a game are fewer....better teams though.

[disregard who you think are the leagues better players and just state your best player]

That should do it.

Known quantity - Reed by a country mile

Unknown quantity - Clayton

Surprise package - Wakeling

We’ve signed 13 new players with 1 more to come apparently. If this lot can’t get us top 3 my cock’s a kipper!

Wakeling would be a big surprise - either that or Mark Cooper is just clueless......

He’s looked very sharp in pre season games. Skilful in and around the box

Thinking about players from other sides (mainly based on this forum really), I reckon Danny Hylton, George Moncur and Dom Telford are likely to shine in this division.

I added the Cooper being clueless bit just incase he comes good.

I tend not to take too much notice of what happens in pre-season but he's been described as similar to Jerry Yates, who was superb for us and is now in the Championship with Blackpool. Obviously time will tell whether that's true or not.

For us Zac Williams clearly has the highest ceiling. At only 17 he looked a cut above last season at league 1 level, he's the Wales under 18 captain, and reportedly had premier league interest. He's probably the most naturally talented player to come through the academy since Nick Powell.

Then Chris Long if he stays fit long enough and the team around him perform to a high enough level could score alot of goals at this level. Scored double figures last season for the worst team in the league, and missed quite alot of games through injury and illness.

Looking at a few of the other clubs Smallwood and Camps I'd expect will do very well down at league 2 level.

our surprise one Harrison Neal has already been talked about similar to Ryan Yates who we had on loan from Notts Forest and is now Premier League with them. perhaps we all need to find players called Yates and get them on loan.

Be interesting to see how McAtee fares this season. He’s still very much unproven at this level.

Adam Clayton and Tommy Rowe are both too good for this division as to the rest of our squad, I don’t have a clue

We do have two very good wing backs for the league in Jamie Sterry and David Ferguson. Hard to say if they're the best in the division but for those positions they'd be in that conversation

Ayoub Assal was very impressive for the first half of last season so hoping he recaptures that form.

Paris Maghoma on loan from Brentford comes with rave reviews, but I haven't seen him yet so who knows?

On paper Luke McCormick should be a stand-out (and is a big earner on the expectation that we'd sell him on for a lot) but he seems to be standing still or going backwards with us. Crunch season for him.

I also fear that Tzanev in goal will be a stand-out, but not in a good way.

Of our experienced players, Kieron Morris misses the opening 3 months of the season so likely to be striker Kane Hemmings, particularly as we’re more playing to his strengths now.

Of the younger signings, Ethan Bristow left-back/wing-back signed from Reading seems to be attracting most plaudits from those who’ve seen Rovers pre-season.

As Boz mentions Hemmings will be our main man next season. Scored 8 in 22 last season playing in an incredibly negative style of play. He will get 20 or so if he stays fit. I would also be very surprised if Josh Dacres-Cogley is still a league 2 player after this coming season. Aberdeen, and Ipswich were interested this summer, but we apparently priced them out of an offer.

Only one way to find out with stuff like this, but Macca was probably the best LB in the division last season, and with him likely being played more LWB now due to a formation change that should suit him down to the ground.

We've got Madden and Camps who should be playing in the division above, but is there anyone other than Smallwood who you can say should probably be two levels higher?

Would have loved Camps to go with Smallwood. Regarding Smallwood we were just lucky he wouldn’t up root his family or be away from them. I don’t know if that’s effected other clubs this season but most of ours seem to be from the north east or Yorkshire.

Regarding players who could play in the championship I may be getting a bit carried away but I’m adding Jamie Walker to that list, he should be minimum league 1 he’s like a stronger more aggressive Jake Payne(not the Crawley one). He came to us on loan after a year out of the game, I think most of us thought Hearts had just loaned him out to get his match fitness back as he’s in his prime at 28, but they didn’t offer him a new deal most of us thought he’d be off to league 1 at least but he said he loved his time here and has moved his family down here. Harry Chapman from Blackburn could be another, probably at this level due to injuries but I’ve not seen him play so can only go on his pedigree. I’d probably say they are our stand outs.

What’s Madden like these days? He was always causing us problems in league 1 with Scunny(before they went off the boil and we were fighting for a place in the championship with each other). I suppose he’s never heavily relied on pace so shouldn’t have gone down hill to much.
