Hey, remember at the start of the season when it wasn’t just Swindon fans who were obsessed by us but Grimsby too? Well let’s rekindle those top bants with our very own thread.
McCall back, would like to see 442 with Donaldson and Novak (/Devitt as a 10), Connolly and new lad from Rangers out wide, Cooke and Reeves in the middle.
Hanson and Clarke back a la 2015, expecting good things with Holloway (although his Millwall side when he was here last was dire, won 4-0 I think) and maybe some away fans for the first time this season.
Went to BP on a random Friday night game under McCall a few years back, won 3-1 with ten men, so going for the same result again, but just to have some shots at goal will be nice too.

Just under 2500 tickets sold so far with about 200 remaining.

Always wary of the new manager bounce with McCall now in charge but we're playing far better under Holloway and been putting in some decent performances so I'm going to say we'll nick it 1-0 with the inevitable James Hanson getting the goal midway through the 2nd half.

We were pretty much spot on, though.

Do elaborate?

Have heard that this has brought more money into their club than the 10,000 heavily subsidised season tickets they sold* back in the summer.

*I say sold, but have also heard that some of those 10,000 were given away in boxes of Frosties.

Absolutely banging August, then a bit of a dip in September...then the whole team went to shit. Then he got injured. Now he's back and looking sharp again. Helps that Charlie Vernam and Billy Clarke are both playing really well either side of him, but we look better all round now. From about mid-September until Holloway came in, all we did for the vast majority of time was try to lump the ball up to him. Which is a decent tactic if it's deployed among other tactics, but teams knew it was coming. It was so obvious. Now that we have a bit more varied a style of attacking endeavour, he's looking threatening again. He gets bugger all in the way of refereeing decisions though. Really highlights the lengths that Akinde and Akinfenwa have gone to perfecting the art of making it seem like you've been pushed.

Anyway, Grimsby at home - glamour tie.

Whilst our away form has been incredibly poor, our home form is up there with the best. Up until recent weeks, it was the best. Having lost just twice at home all season, both against sides scoring in the last minute, I’m quietly confident of turning these over.

It’ll be a partisan crowd, something of which Grimsby won’t have seen in many a year. They’ll be well and truly overwhelmed by the occasion.

No idea who McCall starts, but I’d go for:

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Adam Henley
CB: Anthony O’connor
CB: Paudie O’connor
LB: Connor Wood

RW: Dylan Connolly/Harry Pritchard
CM: Callum Cooke
CM: Jamie Devitt
LW: Glenn Middleton

ST: Clayton Donaldson
ST: Lee Novak/Kurtis Guthrie

About 2,500 little fishy’s making the journey over for their cup final. Should swell the numbers slightly - could see 18,000+.

3-0 City

The away end for every Gy away game...and for home fans Palace in the FA Cup last season...noisiest "big club" home fans I've experienced for a Cup game for years, they turned up in good numbers and applauded our lads off.

Not only us Grimsby fans wanting us to beat Bradford but Man Utd fans are rooting for us too what with them being Bradford’s massive rivals.

Genuine question, but do Bradford actually have a main rival? I'm guessing they're one of the many clubs who class Leeds as their main one?

Everyone knows that a side who think club x is their main rival and it not being reciprocated is an 8.2 on the tinpot scale.

To be fair when thinking of fiercest games between rivals the 3 that always pop into my head are:
Rangers v Celtic,
Newcastle v Sunderland,
and Man Utd v Bradford City.

More empty seats than our ground as well...

Still, rather see 14,000-20,000 at Valley Parade than have to go to BP every other week with the other 3,000.

Getting regular 20,000 crowds at The Utilita Energy Stadium this season, I see...

Well of course attendances are the main topic of discussion on this thread.

Shock and indeed horror.

No, but we did only a 18 months ago.

Bet the atmosphere is electric at the Blundell with 3,000 in. Quality not quantity anorl that.

Well, we're averaging over 4,500 which isn't bad considering the shite we've been served up this season. The atmosphere is not often brilliant at BP, we're big enough to admit that. You keep telling yourself that the atmosphere at The Coral Windows Arena is quality though and that Leeds give a shit about you. The last time I went to Bradford away, the home support was among the flattest I've ever experienced.

Was that on Shrove Tuesday?
