Let's stop this one thread rebellion please.

Should be a decent game this, pretty sure Bradford will attack us which might give us a bit more room to play for once. Either that or we'll defend like we did on Tuesday and get battered. Expect our players will be well up for this, I'd expect ths will be the biggest crowd we'll play in front of this season, so hope we can rise to the occassion.

Really hope you’ve got the necessary paper work to create a match thread, there’ll be tears if not.

What's the biggest league crowd your lot have ever played in?

Other then in play-off finals, I think it's 13,267 away at Notts County 2 seasons ago.
Should be around 14,500.

On to the football I think 1-1, think it'll be our hardest game so far.

Chris speaks for most FGR supporters when he predicts a loss on Oakie's Prediction competition.
Me, I've predicted a draw. :ohm:
Both clubs go into the unknown against each other, but FGR have now played in front of big crowds in big stadiums and come away with wins such as at Coventry or Tranmere.
FGR will not therefore be intimidated by the big crowd [and lets hope it is a massive attendance].
Where teams will get the better of FGR is if they can bully them. FGR have one of the youngest teams in EFL consisting of generally smaller players than all our opponents thus far.
I don't know a thing about Bradford so I cannot say if they are set up to counter FGR's passing style of play. Our goalkeeper will probably receive the ball more often than anybody else but our defence is good, very good.

Agreed with the 1-1 prediction, we’ll certainly play on the front foot but we’re yet to click despite being second.
Defensively we’ve been quite sound so far and the only goal we’ve conceded was a deflection and that’s without arguably our best defender playing, that solid base has been the most pleasing thing so far this season.
Expecting good things from FGR in our first ever encounter so looking forward to this one, plus it’s my Ashes warm up when I go to day 4 on Sunday so it’d be nice to set up the long weekend with a win.

I’m not sure if Adam Henley will be fit or what has happened to our first choice LB in Jackson Longridge, but I suspect one of them will feature. If not, Connor Wood will slot back in at LB.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB: Anthony O’connor
CB: Ben Richards-Everton
LB: Adam Henley/Jackson Longridge

RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Danny Devine
CM: Matty Palmer
LW: Connor Wood

ST: Clayton Donaldson
ST: James Vaughan

I think we’ll just have enough.

2-1 Vaughan x2

Att: 14,679 - many from FGR making the trip?

Henley defo out. Think Wood will move back and Cooke come in. Pleased if 200 away fans come, much better than the half dozen that Fleetwood usually bring.

For the last two seasons within the first few games it became apparent generally how we would fair. Season one; we knew very early we would struggle, but last season it was clear there was a dramatic improvement from the off. It already looks as if we’ll have an up and down season this time. Our home form will be far more important. I expect a narrow defeat on Saturday, but with a marked improvement on Tuesday’s performance. A reaction needed. Hopefully Bradford’s agents we not looking too closely at Port Vales tactics on Tuesday!

Defences can always make mistakes, so we can tighten-up the there. The real improvement needs to come from being more decisive when within sight of goal. A bit more adventurous. But I guess we’ll continue to seek out the odd mistake, or carving a way through against the run of play. We don’t seem to have the same quality of attacking options this season especially after loosing Williams within the first three minute on the opening day, that was a big blow to us. He was our preferred option to make things happen as well as contributing with goals. Frankly we need a replacement within the next 11 days, desperately lacking experience upfront, but not sure a loan player can fix that one now! Expecting plenty of rotation for this one, but hopefully a more consistent effort over 90 minutes.

Yeah agree we need to be more clinical, instead of always looking to pass sometimes we need to have a shot, or put the ball in the box. No point having 70% possession if you don't do anything with it. We're not far off being a very good side imo, just need a bit more in the final third.

If your teams young enough, just don't turn up like Bolton.

We've changed systems a couple of times so far, and are yet to get our settled formation and starting 11 for the season imo.

Our fans keep clamoring for 4-4-2, but even though we've won our last 2 playing that way I'm not at all convinced. Poor teams have dominated the ball against us and we've been fortunate to come away with the wins. Regardless of what some of our fans say, we've not played 4-3-3 yet and I'd prefer that. To match other teams in the middle but also provide width when needed. We played the first few games with a narrow diamond shape with Doyle in behind, that didn't work, but a few of our personnel have changed since then and our shape would also be different with an extra man in midfield.

We're hard to predict team/formation wise. Will probably go with a variation of 3-5-2/3-4-3, with our left and right cb's split and our wing backs pushed right up the pitch to dominate possesion, with a sweeper keeper behind them, who'll see more of the ball then most of the rest of the players on the pitch, unless things go very badly and we aren't getting much of the ball.

I would expect we'll go for 3 in midfield for a tough away game like this with Dawson coming back in. No idea what we'll do going forward, we seem to switch between 1 striker plus 2 no. 10's, 2 strikers with 0 no.10's or an interchangeable front 3 with a false 9. Would expect McCoulsky to come back in after being rested on Tuesday.

Be thankful Warner didn't declare at tea time. It would be all over now.

Probably be over by lunch tomorrow anyway. Ruined my bank holiday weekend it has.

Good job F-I-R-T-H-Y doesn’t have day 4 tickets as he’ll still claim there were 10000 there even if it all ends on day 3*

*Now then F-I-R-T-H-Y this is what’s know as a FUCKING JOKE ok pal. :bg:

Haha - funny that! Spell check stopped working?

So Joe Mills has now been reassigned as a left winger! He is a left back turned wing back, now full on left winger. He is our top scorer after all. A pretty attacking line-up today. 4.3.3.
Interesting, I take todays line-up/team selection as a positive.

Another extremely painful 45 minutes to watch. Really struggling to see what Bowyer sees in this set up.

Forest Green, wow, years since I've seen such anti football tactics employed. Ref and lineswoman on the Midland Road side falling for their antics every single time.

Exactly, so where's our supposed antics? You started well then it levelled out though you still had the couple of chances like the Gibson? shot. Couple of free kicks for us. Nothing out the ordinary.

No words.
