Our first proper local game of the season and we're away to Oldham who sit in mid table only 5 points away from a playoff position.

I can't remember the last time we've played well in a local game so will be interesting to see if we are fired up for this game. No idea of how Oldham are actually doing if they are in the correct position or not but I'm sure they will be up for this game so close to Christmas.

Thoughts , predictions etc in here.

We prob should have a few more points in the bag but I’m sure every club feels the same .we are on a good run at the moment as are Bury who are having a really good season and scoring loads I’m expecting a high scoring entertaining game gotta go for us nicking it 3-2 hope the Bury fans travel in good numbers for a change for some reason they never bring that many considering The closeness , between 1500 and 2000 would be a good turn out from Gigg Lane and hopefully a cracking atmosphere

There are reasons, notably on one occasion ridiculously expensive ticket prices for away fans, plus no concessions barring for U16s. That was our first visit to BP for a while, I still recall we had 1400 odd there. Last season was a Tuesday night and our entire fanbase wanted the manager gone, couple that with the fact we were in the bottom four playing negative, turgid football with bizzare formations, it was never going to be many travelling.
I think our other two followings of recent times, firstly in 2016 under Flitcroft and 2017 under Clark were around the 1300/1400 mark. Not great, and never a patch on what Oldham take to Gigg, but still roughly 50% of our home crowd.
It may be a league lower though but for once this fixture will be played between sides at the right end of the table. So I am hoping for 1500plus, (hopefully the time of year and weather doesn't put any softies off.)
We too could easily have more points, away form has let us down, and both of our two league defeats since August are games we should have won.
The home fans always make some decent noise so it could be a good atmosphere and hopefully a cracking game.

2-2

Forget anything on the pitch, this off pitch crap is testing my patience as a Bury supporter to huge extremes.
One minute it is a millionaire with links to JD Sports, next it is a fecking Manchester based builder. Constantly reading claims from people ITK claiming all kinds of crap.

Yeah, I get what what you are on about. I mean even this season while it's been the best on the pitch since our last promotion theres still always been a small linger at the back of my mind of stuff off the field. I really hope if it is a new guy in charge of the club then he has a totally different philosophy to Day who in my mind has the right intentions but by the sounds of it is a total disaster as a business man. It's been said before but I'd rather us stay down this year if it meant selling some of our better players to balance the books and we don't hear stories of not paying people on time. You can understand the odd CCJ over the season but when it's 5/6 maybe more you get the feeling its being done on purpose and it doesn't sit well with me. Its an interesting and nervous time because we don't know what the new persons intentions are for us. As football fans you've just got to cross your fingers and pray.

Its an interesting and nervous time because we don't know what the new persons intentions are for us. As football fans you've just got to cross your fingers and pray.

Initially I was hoping it was those Simpson brothers, not because I thought they'd come in and sling money at us, more because I'd be able to relax when thinking on the club's future because they'd be in a position to plug the gap until we started operating as a normal club. Doesn't seem that likely now. And I am very worried as to who the new owner is.
I have no idea what has gone through Day's mind since he arrived. But his planning and aims have been deluded at best and made no sense at all.
No matter how often he spoke smoothly reassuring fans, talking about big business deals and new stadiums and a self sufficient BFC. Most people (barring that idiot Shaker Ryan and several others) knew it was bollocks built on a tiny bit of sand, and it'd soon come tumbling down.

He has lied constantly since he arrived and fans are still thanking him for saving us, as if they actually believe his untrue claims.

Sorry, I've slightly hijacked the thread.

Oldham always seem to have more to play for when they come to us, and they usually come at the sharp end of the season too. Last year they were desperate for points to stay up for instance.
This take over bollocks has really pissed me off too, and that's made my mind up to not go, I haven't enjoyed trips there for ages. The pubs used to be ok but most seem to have shut since the first time I went about 1999. There was 20 plus in our party and that had dwindled away to 5 last year, drinks in Middleton and taxi to the ground. It was a shit day out so much so that none of the group are going. Sad but true. Love to have a big following and a big win, but I won't see it, I've told Mrs BFC I will pick this week to do the Christmas shopping , she's gobsmacked!

2.29 in the pm Martyn and you come up with this little gem?
Either you have made an early start on the sauce or you are about to become the next Ricky Gervais.
You will do well I think, he's about as funny as a hole in a parachute too.

Any worries about the game getting P-P?
I was confident until a Bury fan posted today about the forecast.

Temps very low until KO then sleet by the look of it. I take it Oldham have frost covers.

So far this has been a bloodbath. Pressing better than I’ve ever seen a Latics side do. I’m also wise enough to know this isn’t over yet though.

Not a surprise that we've not turned up to another local game.

Well that was drab barring our 10 minute resurgence. Oldham dominated the first half we were absolutely tragic.

4th goal was dubious but clearly knocked the stuffing out of us.

Well that was a pleasant surprise I was expecting a lot more from bury but the damage was done in an excellent first half best 45 I’ve seen in along while from Oldham as for mayor being the best player in the division Your deluded top players in the division turn up week in week out the super star wasn’t interested one bit today

Are you serious? Danny Mayor was the only highlight for Bury - he was very good despite the pasting they got. Far too good for L2.

Can't say I noticed mayor, so can't say either way of his performance.

What to say about that first 45. Not a cat in hells chance any team in this division would get near us playing like that. Gave bury no time on the ball, crosses in early, looked to attack at every opportunity and dominated midfield.

And that's supposedly with a long list of injuries through the side. Looked at our bench today and hadn't heard of 3 or 4 of them.

Second half was always coming. We don't do things the easy way but was notable how we responded after conceding 2. 4th looked dubious to me and at the time I wouldn't have given it, but yet to see the replay.

Long may this mini resurgence continue. Can't remember the last time we hit Christmas in form.

As a footnote, how bad was that ref? Got so many decisions wrong both ways, and that 1st half hr he may as well of been wearing white. As I say I think he got the 4th wrong too so I can't complain too much

Tbf as good as we were first half we were sloppy second and had the 4th not been given you get something from that game.

One thing I will say though is that bury going mad about all the cynical fouling is bizarre. Yes it was present but I've been saying every week since we got relegated every team does it at this level and it's about time we were on the other foot. Maybe we have manned up a bit.
Bury fans are also failing to a knowledge just how shite the ref was against us in the first 30 mins.

Horses for courses. Bunn got it spot on, squeezed them every time they got the ball until they inevitably gave it away. We were never going to be able to keep that tempo up for a full 90. Best performance of the season for me.

You will very rarely get 2 sets of fans that see things the same way. i would guess we are the most fouled team in this league but its up to us to work out a way to win when teams are cynical, enjoy the 3 points.

So it turns out Mayor is overrated, good job we have an Oldham fans viewpoint based on one performance. May as well discount all those other performances he has put in this season because he had an off day at Boundary Park.

I'd wager even the best players in the world have off days. Danny wasn't at his best today, although as I don't watch any other side I can't compare his performances to any other and have thus never called him the best player in the division.
A tad odd to start labelling Bury fans as deluded.

Our sloppy defending didn't help, but Oldham were excellent in the first half. Be interesting to see how we react on Saturday and how the return fixture plays out.

12 local derbies without a win now, 8 defeats and a pathetic four draws.

How do you know it’s based on one performance you don’t know how many times I’ve seen him play
