With our pre-season schedule now over, we cast an eye towards the league campaign with Yeovil town being the visitors to Gigg Lane on the 4th August.

It’s been a mixed pre-season for us, we’ve been hammered away at Rangers, beaten comfortably by Huddersfield, but also shown decent performances against strong Liverpool and Everton sides.

We beat Chester away 1-0 but today lost 3-1 away at Southport to take the gloss off things.

Certainly things to work on for Saturday, and I believe we were trialing a new formation today which seems an odd thing to do so close to the start of the season.

Our side on paper is solid, as is our depth... but I really haven’t warmed to Ryan Lowe yet, and there is still a gloomy cloud hanging over the club.

Yeovil aren’t expected to do much this season, but that could work in their favour if they have a point to prove. Personally, I think Bury are the perfect opening day opponent for Yeovil as Bury will be testing the waters in a new league.

We’ve had so many games over the last 18 months that we were expected to win, and haven’t, coupled with countless dire performances that it becomes almost impossible to see anything but a Yeovil victory.

I’m going to go with my gut and say Bury 1-3 Yeovil.

3,100 in attendance with 250 Yeovil.

We're coming off the back of a decent pre-season, only defeat against Swansea, draws against the Bristol clubs and a 5-1 win over Plymouth.

Assuming nothing significant happens between now and Saturday, I think we'll line up;

----------------------Nelson
James---Donnellan---Sowunmi---Dickinson
Green-----Santos------D'Almeida--Browne
--------------Jaiyesimi---Fisher

Dickinson aside, there's plenty of pace in that team so we should be dangerous on the counter, while Sowunmi and Fisher will cause problems at set pieces. Bury's side is strong on paper and I can't see us keeping a clean sheet, but relegated teams have often struggled in the early stages so hopefully we can take advantage.

Tbh we lost 8-2 on the opening day last season, so anything would be an improvement on that.

I'll go for Bury 2-2 Yeovil. Fisher and Browne for us.

A bit more imagination required with the title.

Lancashire Fusilier Blackpuddings vs Sedgemore and Cider FC would have been more appt.

Can't call this at all, I have no idea what to expect.

New formation, a fair few new signings, last season's abomination behind us. A draw would not be the end of the world. If anything, just to delay UTS from mentally combusting in the event of defeat and starting a 'Lowe Out' thread on here.

The line up has been pretty consistent through pre-season so I expect Zoko to start in place of Fisher - I'd also personally prefer Mugabi to start over Donnellan.

We've looked far better this pre-season than last year, so i'm hopeful that last year's aberration won't be repeated.

Squad still looks paper thin though and a couple of injuries and we are in trouble, assuming we are saving the last couple of loan spaces in case things go horribly wrong in the first few games.

I think our squad is starting to look pretty decent and our midfield should cause a lot of problems to other sides this season. Probably Zoko to start but Fisher is good so wouldn't be an issue.

Bury 1 Yeovil Town 1

Cm looks to be our main problem again - just hope we pick a settled team that can compete. Fed up of seeing 4/5 changes every game.

Bury are absolutely gash, no goals or clean sheets in that squad. 0-3 to Yeovil. Season of struggle the team and squad is worse than last season. Relegation beckons.

Ahh okay, that is that then. The lad who isn't a Bury fan and with an overactive imagination has spoken. Just cancel the season and confide us to 24th place. Burberry knows all.... Funny character.

We've sold our first choice right back to West Brom today for £400k so we need to either sign another sharpish or Mugabi (probably) will play there on Saturday.

Interesting starting XI for us:

12. Nathan Baxter
23. Tom James, 5. Bevis Mugabi, 27. Shaun Donnellan, 3. Carl Dickinson
11. Jordan Green, 20. Sessi D'Almeida, 30. Alefe Santos, 18. Yoann Arquin
14. Diallang Jaiyesimi, 13. Francois Zoko (Capt)

5 making their debuts an Baxter in goal as Nelson having a calf problem.

There have been two reds cards in the whole of the Football League this season. Both have been for Yeovil Town.

Some things definitely haven't changed since last season FFS.

Normal service is resumed. Two red cards and a last minute winner for the opposition. Standard Yeovil for all of last season and now this.

Poor tactics and line up from us from the beginning. We only won that because Yeovil self destructed. Poor sportsmanship from them from minute one so you can't really feel sorry for them.

Ryan Lowe is an absolute retard. Omotayo is a god.

1 up front against 9 man Yeovil is enough to make anyone go mad.

Sort it out Lowe.

Darren Way looks like the least violent man on the planet. Why is it then that his team are such lunatics? Had the 3rd worst disciplinary record last season, off to a good/bad start this season. That 2nd red was a horrific challenge.

It's weird because i've never seen Jordan Green make a bad challenge before. Our disciplinary record before Way took over was exemplary, it can't be a coincidence.

That's the 5th time in the last year that we've had two players sent off in a game.

Always the quiet ones. He's always given me the impression could be a right nasty bastard if he wanted.
