If you ever wanted to see Hallam Hope wearing lipstick, now's your opportunity.

And with that image firmly etched into your brains, two clubs struggling in different ways prepare to meet at Brunton Park.

Bury have been comfortable promotion contenders almost all season but have endured a bit of a wobble with two successive defeats and only one win in five amidst talk of players going unpaid. Now they'll feel a little less comfortable and more concerned about teams below them. Having to settle for playoffs would be a big blow for them.

Carlisle looked like they were going to stake a claim for a playoff place until Sheridan walked, since then things have been rocky and the club currently sit second from bottom of the form table since the transfer window closed. Playoff hopes look all but finished and with form teams below them with games in hand, will even have to fight for a top half finish.

e361 rates this as one of the key games that could make a different this weekend, with a Carlisle win giving them hope they can still make the playoffs while a Bury win would restore some of Bury's former comfort.

Players aren't getting paid after they all agreed to it this week. No idea how we're going to get out of this mess really. At the Moment all we can do is trust Steve has the ideas/means to get us on Some kind of plan to save us but also pay people what they are owed. He'd literally be a god to us if he can sort this. Depends how the players really feel, the performance on Tuesday was awful but if we go a goal down will there be the same effort to get back?? Either way all the players will be getting backed no matter what happens on the pitch. Carlisle at 23/10 look very good to me.

If you go a goal down? That's a big if. I hear that this Denny Major bloke is suspended for this game. That's a shame I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

We aren't very good at the back, our goals against column will prove this. Only Thompson is a decent defender. All the others have mistakes in them. Corners especially we struggle at. In the reverse fixture you scored from one and won the game. It could easily happen again.

Is it *that* bad?

Your style of play probably isn't conducive to defenders either. On the highlights, Wharton seems to have looked a bit shaky and exposed.

At the moment we're told very little, but we know that things have come out from no where like Chris Brass owed an apparent 100k. (Unfair dismissal I think) From what I'm aware of Steve was ill before he took us over and put all his money in a trust fund he's now struggling to get it out - he's said he's not a constant ATM which is fair. In his statement last night he said we will overcome this but whether he really believes that is anyone's guess.

We've lost about 2 million a season while Day was in charge - I'm not sure who most of the debt is owed to though whether its Day himself or some other form of money lender.

We need the end of the season so we can stop paying Beckford, Edwards, etc and probably sell everyone else.

Yes Wharton was shakey on Saturday too v Swindon. Think Stokes should come back in to be honest.

I thought Day came in claiming to be the saviour?!

Isn't Stokes an LB?

We aren't very good up front, and in the reverse fixture we were a much better team and were snatching goals like that. Not so much these days. Cullen offered a glimmer of hope before becoming injured, like Gnahoua before him who looked decent for the 20 minutes he played for us. Hope, as you're probably well aware of, isn't a line-leading forward and hasn't scored nearly as many as he did earlier in the season when he was supporting Nadesan. We have an array of attacking players such as O'Hare, Thomas (who at least has improved us as a team), Devitt (a lot of weight on his shoulders), Simpson (a long way off this level), Scougall, McCarron (injured) and Kennedy (we may be expecting too much from him after a very long injury), but no end product. You'll probably get used to seeing the ball whipping across your penalty area but nobody getting a meaningful touch, and there'll probably be a spell where we look almost certain to score, but don't.

Can play LCB too.

Well its hard to know how we will play tbh, we conceded 3 goals to the lowest scorers in the league so I wouldn't claim it's impossible for you to score at least 1. I'd take a point now based on the circumstances off the field. Very disappointed if we don't make the autos but I'd rather have good news about players getting paid and we stay down tbh. P/O might be a better idea to show our players off.

Sadly we suspect it is and after previous troubles we deserve very little sympathy.
Well done the players, playing for themselves they could just get back to form, or not.

At least 450 Bury there, but hoping for a lot more turning up on the day. Difficult to see anything but a loss here.

First 40 minutes at Tranmere last week was as comfortable as I’ve seen us under Pressley, but of course we couldn’t score, then as soon as the usual brain fart at the back occurred giving them a 1-0 lead, it was game over and we put in a diabolical unfit second half performance.

That’s how I expect this one to go. We will, as we always do, have spells in the game where we play good football, but we’ll do nothing with it and probably lose.

Fail to win this and our season is definitely over and we need to start looking for a new manager to take us forward next season.

Can’t fault Carlisle for the number of pubs as soon as you step out of the station. Hoping for a big result, but after the past week, any score is possible. Win, lose or draw, I just hope I have a club to support next season.

Told you. We are garbage at defending. 9 goals in three games. We aren't going up. Probably a good thing though.

Yep I've seen it. Lowe can't complain why did we take two defenders off for forwards is anyone's guess. I'm all for trying to win the game but it does seem we only have ourselves to blame. A point would have been fine IMO.

Wow.

Another typical Carlisle diabolical first half, Pressley had the team and tactics completely wrong as per, dominated, shocking defending and conceding from a corner. Standard Carlisle. then 2-1 down we get a man sent off... And that changed the game.

Second half Pressley had no choice but to take his beloved Regan Slater off to get the more combative and better suited to league 2 kelvin etuhu on and whilst we were backs to the wall a lot, we were much more of a team, put bodies on the line, won 50:50’s and broke forward with purpose.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying we deserved the win in terms of football because our goalkeeper had to save our arses on numerous occasions, but we kind of did deserve it for the shift we put in.

Hopefully Pressley will have seen how well our midfield functioned without Slater and he’ll learn from his mistakes.
