Could be a high-scoring game, both teams having scored 4 and conceded 4 in their two league games and both involved in high scoring games in the Carabao cup midweek. Could also see some red-card action, Mansfield have been reduced to ten men in both their opening fixtures while Carlisle had a man sent off last time out. Both Carlisle's league games have seen the away side end with 10 men.

I'm gonna go with Carlisle 3 - Mansfield 2, Carlisle allowing a two-goal lead to slip before nicking a winner.

Pearce and Rose with Mansfield's goals. Thomas and Hope for Carlisle before McKirdy's winner.

We played ok against Crawley, terrible against Swindon, brilliant last night at Barnsley.

Quite how motivated Barnsley were I don’t know. Mansfield certainly will be motivated and yet again I think we’ll lose the midfield battle. The big positive from last night is Iredale performed well which will hopefully mean no more Mellish at left back. I think we’ll score, our 2 wide players are in good confident form, but can’t see us keeping enough out at the other end. On another day Swindon would have put 7 or 8 past us as we kept giving them possession in our own half, Crawley could have probably done more as well with the amount of space we allowed them to have breaking into the final third. Think we’ll be punished for these errors by a Mansfield team with more efficient forwards in Maynard and Rose, theyll be desperate to get their promotion challenge going.

An entertaining encounter that finishes Carlisle United 2-5 Mansfield Town

I don’t want to lose shoddy, but if it’s entertaining, we play reasonably well and look a threat but lose to a better side with promotion quality in their team it’s not the end of the world. As long as there are positives.

With the signings we’ve made over the past few weeks and the one that should be coming in, I’m confident we’ll have enough to stay up. It’s a Million miles better than what it was about a month ago when we hardly had a squad.

I honestly dunno what to expect, I mean if we can somehow sort out the weird defence in the past three games we will win because with Maynard, Rose and Khan all looking on form we will create chances.

Not surprise me to draw/lose (cue stags fan meltdown) after our first couple of games though, stuff like White squaring up to Logan on Tuesday really makes me worried, and you cannot rule out a stupid formation/line-up from our rookie manager.

Well our main (only) threat comes from our wingers attacking, all 7 goals this season have involved one of either McKirdy or Thomas (McKirdy won the penalty)

v Crawley
Thomas recieves the ball on the wing, shoots from distance, the keeper can only palm it up for McKirdy to head home
Thomas recieves the ball on the edge of the box shoots, the keeper saves and Scougall reacts quickest to the rebound

v Swindon
McKirdy breaks down the wing, into the box and lays it off for Olomola to score
Thomas recieves it onto the edge of the box, runs to the byline, plays it across the goal for Sagaf to score

v Barnsley
McKirdy pounces on a soft backpass to score
McKirdy chases a through-ball, breaks into the box and is brought down for a penalty which Bridge scores
Thomas dispossesses a defender midway in their half, breaks into the box and scores

They're both pretty exciting to watch. Young players who just want to get forward and have no fear of defenders, they've had the beating of all the full-backs they've been up against so far but I'm not sure how much of a threat we'd pose if an opposition manager instructed his side to hold them up. It may well turn out that they're unstoppable no matter how close to them you try and get and how many players you put in their way, and if that's the case then bully for us, most teams will just try and do like Swindon and have the beating of us everywhere else on the pitch and outscore us, but if your manager hasn't sussed us out with access to replays he has then he wants sacking.

Carlisle fans to be shocked how bad we are.
Stags fans to be suicidal.

If Logan plays then any crosses into the box will lead to a goal.

I am just not looking forward to Saturday and we're not even out of August yet.

From what Conker says, this game is all about what Mansfield do. If Mansfield sort out their defence they win the game and there’s nothing Carlisle United can do.

Pressley will just have to make sure the team play to their capabilities and then sit back in his seat and prey that Mansfield have an off day.

Of course its about what the other team does ,if we play like barcelona ,we win ,if we play like mansfield we draw if you play like carlisle you may get off with a spanking ,but if we play logan in goal you can all just relax :fish:

What about if say, we play like Grimsby and you play like Forest Green?

Really pessimistic about this one. Even more so if calamity Logan plays.

I hope we start Sorensen, but I think with only one days training and the performances at Barnsley on Tuesday night, he’ll be on the bench.

I think so... I think Hallam Hope might be on the bench too. My thinking with the performances of McKirdy and Thomas have been that Hope may actually do well as a centre-forward with that kind of service where he's struggled to be a traditional centre-forward who's expected to win the ball and present an aerial challenge as well as put the ball in the net. Olomola though should probably start, it's not as if we've been wasteful in front of goal so far this season.

Because it feels like home? I mean it is a bit nicer than Cleethorpes but it’s still similar.
I thought we were talking about stadiums? Also, said it plenty of times but shithole with a beach beats shithole with a...Greggs?

Honestly if your management have done any homework on us they will be hoping to get plenty of balls in the box and putting it behind the defence.

Our defenders and GK don’t get on, at all, and Logan refuses to command his box.

I thought you veered off because the Mill is not a shithole, despite the bish being a wreck.
Are you actually using that stand down the side that had a load of garden shed things in it for years now?

No that’s getting redeveloped soon as we get promoted to league one, which will be never.

Seriously though, North stand for away fans is great for this level - decent facilities and good views, much better than what you get in Cleethorpes!

Seeing rumours that two of our players have been arrested now.

I honestly believe we are getting relegated this season.

I think the club in general lacks leadership due to the Radfords being out of the country, I'm sure having a rookie manager does not help either. Plenty of rumours of players out on the piss, being banned from the local etc.

Got to admit it's a bit Notts County this, don't think it's on the same level mind.

Having a UK presence is key when your boss is out of the country.

Hopefully the two players are sacked and contracts terminated if it all comes out as true.

One of the 'alleged' players is a proper twat, always out on the razz being a prick, even last year.

Doesn’t sound good. It’s difficult for the average fan to understand why highly paid young men doing a job most would do for free can’t control themselves.

If you’re not careful Flitcroft will be back.
