The last game of a truly remarkable season is upon us. When Kelvin Thomas was 3 hours away from abandoning his takeover, the end we've had is unbelievable. From the sticky start where it was clear something wasn't right, to the dark days of October and November and people not getting paid. On to 19th December, where after a home defeat to Portsmouth we truly demolished all before us and virtually secured promotion by Ferbruary. A gradual easing off became apparent, but still no defeats arrived, and the confirmation was received. A wonderful season, a wonderful team, a wonderful management team, wonderful club staff. Not ashamed to admit at times its been emotional (Newport away when I felt like I'd watched our last ever league game, Coventry away in the cup where the 2,500 Cobblers fans showed what this club meant to us, and finally to Luton at home where we lifted the title) and I'm proud to say we stuck with it through thick and thin.

Arise, Sir Chris Wilder. A truly inspirational fella, engineering a bond between players and staff and fans I've never experienced before. Onto Portsmouth as we look for our 24th game unbeaten, going down for the weekend for a jolly up, and I cannot wait.

Just don't lose Town, I want to still be unbeaten in league football come August and the first day of our League 1 season.

Every club at this level will experience more bad than good, but my word, aren't the good times good.

Up the fucking Cobblers

Amen.

What a ruddy season and what a ruddy rollercoaster of emotions it has been.

Cant wait for this one. A great game to end the season with to cap off an incredible season. Remember going to Fratton Park last season and thinking Pompey were nailed on to go up last year. Surprised they havnt really kicked on.

Oh and thanks to Pompey once again for Ricky Holmes. I know players will sometimes just not work out at clubs but I am still amazed that he didnt show his ability down south.

Looking forward to the game knowing that we're already in the playoffs is abit of relief. Hope it may take some of the pressure off the players and we will end the regular season with a win.

Congratulations Northampton by the way, remarkable achievement considering the off the field problems you've encountered. How many you bringing down?

gonna be a funny old atmosphere tomorrow, partying in the away end, but all home fans will have play offs in mind, and a majority will probably see this game as "in the way". Cant see us winning really, northampton will want a champions end to the season, and our players will have one eye on next week. 2-0 champions

Sold out our allocation a few weeks ago, think we were given about 2800?

Aye been sold out for a while. Had a nice response from the Portsmouth safety officer in the week, congratulated me on our great season and wished us the best of luck next season. (Think they perhaps forgot I am merely a fan!)

I'm not too bothered about this one, the main thing is we avoid any more injuries going into the play-offs.

And if we do end up falling to 6th place and playing the 2nd leg away from home, that may well benefit us.

Best place to drink in Pompey anyone?

We arrive tomorrow lunchtime - I'm told Gunwharf Quays is nice but expensive, also Southsea?

Alright lads

Progress his career? At Northampton? Yeah right.

Wilder jumped ship, after touting himself around for over a year, before he got sacked. He was best mates with Kelvin Thomas, our previous Chairman, but once Thomas went and the club owner, Ian Lenagan, gave him strict objectives he knew his days were numbered, as he wouldn't achieve. Your mug of a Chairman was stupid enough to give him a job.

You're welcome to the arrogant northern fuckwit, Michael Appleton is a breath of fresh air after Wilder. You will achieve nothing under him and will realise that soon enough, if you haven't already.

Depends what your after, Gunwharf is more bars and definitely expensive.

Albert Road in Southsea has lots of nice pubs and is where I'd recommend. Only a 15 minute walk to the ground too. The default away pub is the Good Companion which is closer but one of those Hungry Horse/Chain pubs.

Good game. Two crap bits of defending not stoping crosses. Our goal of the season today.
Keeper decision looked soft as well, had two of them given against us this year. Oh well Sunday away suits me with work

Some of the football we played was terrific, first and second half, and I think we were deserved winners. Lovely goal from Naismith, drew applause from the away end, it moved massively through the air so not surprised Smith got nowhere near it. Fantastic atmosphere in the away end today as well, superb following and a quality day.

24 games undefeated. 24 24 I say.

Congrats again, I think you'll do decent enough in league 1.

Cheers mate, I think we'll go well too. All the momentum we've got has to count for something.

Lot of mutual respect flying about between the two sets of fans as well, nice to see

Thought we were pretty comfortable today despite some of our team going through the motions. Surprised at how dirty Pompey were. Is that your usual keeper out of interest?

Met some really nice Pompey fans over the weekend, a credit to the club and football in general.

I did meet one who took great pleasure in telling me that they deserve to go up instead of us because they get 15,000 at home and won the FA Cup recently. Apart from him, top bunch of fans.

Murphy started the season for us in goal but was dropped after making several costly mistakes, since then we've had Mccarey on loan from Wolves, Jones and Fulton all make appearances.

Thought Freeman was stupid getting sent off like that, he's not first 11 like the majority of the team who played today but if Davies got injured now we'd have no right back for the playoffs.

I didn't think the keeper particular did too much wrong, he just seemed really nervy.
