Hi All,

Words fail to describe how bored I am at work so please bear with me and fear not this in no way infringes on the current pinned thread.

Not for any purpose or gain but who have you got down for this season's...

Winner?

Automatic promotion?

Playoffs?

Bottom three?

Surprise Package?

Best Player?

Top Scorer?

At this early stage I'd go for;

Villa to not tempt fate

Newcastle as I'd be really disappointed to not be up there.

Got to look at Sheff Wed, Norwich, Brighton and Derby

My knowledge of last year is limited but I reckon Burton, Barnsley and Rotherham (sorry!) will be in the mix.

To keep everyone on board I'll go with with the Bristol boys and Tomlin to lead a playoff charge!

I'll go with Ritchie to have a cracking first year with ourselves

And lastly, I'll go with a Ritchie double.

Winner - Newcastle: Spending the amount they have so far has to see them nailed on favourites

Automatic promotion - Norwich, their experience of yo yo'ing between divisions should serve them well.

Playoffs - Derby, Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton

Bottom three - Burton, Rotherham, Barnsley - The teams who struggled last season have generally added well so far, so could see the promoted teams struggle (Wigan best placed to do well) and a team who struggled last season fail to stay up this season.

Surprise Package - Brentford, some excellent signings so far.

Best Player - Difficult one, however Ritchie should really tear this division apart.

Top Scorer - McCormack, Newcastle have quite a few strikers so rotation may see their strikers struggle to be top scorer.

Winner? - got to be Newcastle for me too. With Rafa in charge, and the quality of the signings, and squad they still have, they will be incredibly difficult to stop. Need to improve the defence though, a left back and CB still needed.

Automatic promotion? - I think this may well just end up being Derby's year. Pearson is a good manager who's done it before, and they have a squad right up there with Norwich and Villa.

Playoffs? - Norwich have too good a squad, and have a lot of Championship experience in the ranks.
I reckon Leeds could have a good year, a couple of smart signings and they have a good squad despite departures.
Then Wednesday and Brighton were up there last year and should be again.

Bottom three? - Burton have had a magical ride but it's surely a step too far here. Rotherham have clearly had their sights on some better signings this year, and could do well if they pull a couple off, but seem to be struggling to get them over the line at the moment.
Preston I think might just fall in. Did really well last year, they'll find this year much tougher and their signings so far haven't been great.

Surprise Package? - Bristol City, have a lot of work to do this summer but they are targeting the right players, and have some real quality in the side. If they can get 1 or 2 more quality players in; and some depth, they could do very well.

Best Player? - Ince, had a poor year last year by comparison to previous years, but I think he'll blossom under Pearson like Mahrez did.

Top Scorer? - Mitrovic. Teams will defend very deep against Newcastle, and I can see this guy bullying defences and burying headers, just like Carroll did when they were last down here.

Pick one from Newcastle's attacking midfield/ strikeforce.

Top Scorer?

Dwight Gayle (Obvious) or Scott Hogan (Wildcard).

With the amount of strikers they have you reckon one will be played continuously through? Can easily see Newcastle rotating their strike force to fit around playing mid week matches regularly.

Who have they got?

Perez plays deep usually, can't see any of that French shite being kept on, Cisse gone, Armstrong won't start and then there's Mitrovic and Gayle, I can see that being a pretty consistent partnership.

Fair point, but if Perez plays slightly deeper, looking at their team sheets from last season does that mean they were just playing 1 up top? If so again I could see them rotating Gayle and Mitrovic. Therefore think someone like McCormack who will play every game more than likely will score more.

Any reason for that? They look weaker to me and the prospect of McCormack leaving supports that.
Agreed, especially with Dembele leaving and seemingly being replaced by Aluko.

Interesting looking back at this, some people predicting Fulham to go down...

Bottom three?
Preston I think might just fall in. Did really well last year, they'll find this year much tougher and their signings so far haven't been great.
