I've been naturally pessimistic when it comes to Charlton in the last few years so when I'm feeling this optimistic about a game you know you're in trouble (or we are).

Speaking to people about the game on Saturday and they all seem to be saying the same thing, poor in the first half but pretty decent in the second. I'm hopeful that getting our first goal of the season and strong finish to the game will give the players a big boost, I'm sure it will for the fans who will be right behind them from the first minute.

If we're going to win this, Foley has to be dropped for Lookman with Jackson moving back into the middle, other than that the starting 11 on Saturday should be decent enough.

Need this win to get our season up and running before a difficult trip to Walsall.

Cautiously optimistic about a 2-0 home win with both Ajose and Magennis getting off the mark.

Ajose looking worth £800,000?

Hard to say after only two games. He was pretty ineffectual at Bury but same could be said for the other ten players.

Speaking to my old man yesterday though who said he looked OK on Saturday, and he provided the assist for Jackson's goal with a nice little through ball. He had a decent effort which he fired just wide aswell, if that had gone in, with one goal and an assist from two games I would probably be saying he's looking to be worth it. I'll let you know after another 10 games.

I expect Charlton to win this, I think they are probably better than results have shown. However if they perform like Coventry on Saturday we will get something from the game !

Anything other then a defeat tonight will be a good result for us. We've shown, in small glimpses, that were good enough to cause teams problems going forwards this season, with a couple of loan additions recently were still some way off a settled side, but there's more ability going forwards then our previous League One campaigns.

I'll go for a 2-1 home win, but I do think we'll give some of these sides who expect to brush us aside (Coventry on Saturday) a decent game.

For Christ sake, Slade sticks with the same midfield that's been awful for the last two games.

Must be bloody hard for you, this.

Happy to be wrong although not entirely wrong, we shuffled it about a bit and switched Foley and Jackson thus putting Jackson in his most effective position - the middle. Still stand by comments generally though, we need a CM.

Well, that sounded a lot, lot better. Real signs of the starting line-up coming together and playing some good stuff, had far too much for Shrewsbury in the first half by all accounts and took our foot off the gas and just coasted through the second half despite Ajose missing a sitter to make it 4-0!

Magennis is looking like a cracking signing, bringing exactly what I was hoping he would. A real grafter who puts himself about and doesn't give the opposition a moments rest. Hopefully once a bit more settled he'll start chipping in with the goals too.

In our match day thread a Northampton fan asked if Ricky Holmes had produced any moments of magic yet. The answer is now yes, two moments. His first goal was pure class, running from the halfway line before cutting in from the left and curling a beauty into the top right. His second was a bit fortunate going straight in from a corner. He's been fantastic since signing and at the rumoured £120,000 is looking like a real steal. Cheers Cobblers!

Miss you Ricky, if we only got £120k for him I would be gutted:ffs:. How this is his first season at this level is beyond me.
