Well we both started off our seasons not great and will be looking to play better. Think we will draw 1-1

I was going to start a thread, then questioned the need when there's only you, me and Howzy.

Regarding Saturday - we're without Luke Varney who was sent off last Saturday for being fouled for his first booking, and at present we're without Rohan Ince who, according to the ref, viciously attacked the 4th official with an empty bottle whilst throwing it over his shoulder (this one is under appeal - we can't appeal Reg's).

Given this hindrance, I think I'll snap your hand off for a draw at the moment.

As if to compound things, Ince's appeal has been turned down and the case being referred as they believe a 3 match suspension may not be enough.

You could not make this shit up...

Heh. I did warn you. Not an ounce of common sense anywhere in any of the governing bodies of the game. Just greed.

It's genuinely baffling - on the Quest highlights the other day you can clearly see him telling the ref what happened. I accepted the red would not be overturned - as Duff said in his interview by the letter of the law, even though it was an accident the bottle did hit the 4th official, however, to charge him with violent conduct is absolutely bewildering.

I did not see it on Quest. What was the player’s instinctive reaction when he realised what had happened? That immediate reaction tells a lot. If I did something accidentally, I would immediately go over and apologise. If I had a different feeling, I might just ignore it and walk on.

Cheltenham being without those players should certainly help our cause but at the moment I just can't see us scoring. We had a lot of the game last week and just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. If Cheltenham score 1 it could easily be enough.

Haven't seen it, but would think that if it wasn't an overly aggressive act, which it doesn't sound like, he wont get a long ban. A Crawley fan was banned for 3 home games last season for throwing a bottle directly at an assistant, so would seem harsh to hand Ince a bigger ban for a lesser offence. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46631934

.... and that is why I predicted 1-0 to Cheltenham earlier in this thread.

Just read that Ince has had his suspension increased to five games. Un-bloody-believable.
He was negligent in discarding his empty plastic water bottle but witnesses claim it was an accident and he tried to make amends and apologise.
I suppose the original 3 game ban was increased because Cheltenham appealed. A salutary lesson to all clubs.
But it does make you wonder if the FA are fair with their punishments. Reading the Cheltenham forum they are convinced their club always gets the rough edge of the stick because they are deemed a small club. They don't offer any evidence to back up that claim but it is almost unanimous which makes me think perhaps there is some truth in it.

It's not - we got a lot of luck last season when we had players sent off in about 4 games in a row against us. At least one (Macclesfield player) was overturned, and another was weak to say the least.

Previous issues are Kyle Storer (deserved his 8 match ban for biting) and Danny Wright (deserved his 3 match ban for stamping) so it's just the Nest being melodramatic as usual.

With that being said, if the reports of what happened are true (and by that I mean Michael Duff's version of events about Ince throwing the bottle over his shoulder and it bouncing and hitting the 4th official) then you have to say that Ince has been massively hard done by, and you can guarantee our fans will be watching any time an official is even remotely accosted by another player now and be crying about fairness on social media.

It's Ince I feel sorry for - out for the whole of last season with injury and then having to miss 5 games after playing for 72 mins of the season.

We've decided to drop our best player, Adam Hammill, not sure why we expect that to work out.

Genuine fears that we could be in big trouble this season, were a fucking disgrace from top to bottom

Scunthorpe were woeful today.

The first half they had the wind and we struggled to get going, but they never really threatened us at all and the half really petered out.

Second half we swarmed all over them and were dominant for practically the whole 45 mins, except the lapse in concentration which led to them taking the lead - a well taken goal it was as well. Once we equalised though there was only one winner and it really could have been more than 4.

A good performance from us, but it was massively helped by how poor Scunthorpe were.

Didnt see that scoreline coming.

Makes me more fearful than usual about our chances of getting a result away at Cheltenham!

We've lost once at home in 2019, and never lost to Swindon at Whaddon Road. I don't fancy Swindon's chances.

It’s a good win for Cheltenham, we were lucky to get a draw in the last minute.

Lovely town and nice fans, all about deception, you turn up look at the ground and expect you’ll win - only seemingly given the recent record - you don’t!

Keep on rocking Cheltenham!

Because of our early kick off and then getting ready for work I hadn’t even bothered checking other results and I’ve only just seen this one.
