All ticket for away fans, no idea why, we've been sent 1,700 tickets and will most likely only sell half that many. Jim Bentley has done a great job at Morecambe with very little money but this season is going to be a struggle for him and them, expect an away win for Grimsby.

Hopefully we can start well like we usually do apart from last season. If we play 2 upfront I can see us getting something, if Jim plays 1 upfront like he did on Saturday, I think we may struggle.

Looking forward to it now, it's been a long boring summer of gardening, so even a defeat won't upset me too much, I'm just happy that it's back.

Buzzing for this one. On the 8.40 train from Euston to Lancaster with my mate who's a Morecambe fan. Hopefully we can have a repeat of our first game back in the league. Morecambe have recruited solidly though, always amazes me what JB can squeeze out of their budget. Will be a tough match and I reckon both teams'll score and it'll be sorted by a single goal margin. I thought we'd struggle to hit 1000+, but 500+ went to ST holders apparently, so I reckon we're on course to hit four figures in the away end. I think we'll lineup in a sort of 4-3-3 as that's what we've gone with against Donny and Posh:

McKeown
Hendrie--Pollock--Ohman--Ring
Hessenthaler--Clifton--Whitehouse
Ogbu
Hanson--Green

Son of Cod, are you sure your train is running all the way? When I last looked I had to get a replacement bus Crewe to Preston because of track work; so didn't book.

Oh really? I haven't had an e-mail, I booked ages ago to be fair. I'll have a look into that. Cheers for the heads up!

Just realised why it's all ticket for Town fans. See the thread about our stadium manager and the leagues most disliked club.

I think our ‘stadium managers’ salary should be related to our attendances....let’s see him alienate us then!
A total prick if ever there was one!

Haha, average home attendance? About 4.5k per annum? Not sure he's worth that to be fair, mate!

1,000 plus TOWN Fans on the move, it's finally here, the first game of the new season.
Hope all those going by train make it on time with the line between Sheffield and Manchester being closed. Most will have to go via Leeds now but should all get there okay.

#GTFC starting XI - McKeown (C), Hewitt, Öhman, Davis, Hendrie, Hessenthaler, Clifton, Whitehouse, Green, Hanson, Rose.

Subs - Russell, Pollock, Ring, Cook, Wright, Ogbu, Vernam.

That's an exciting looking squad we've managed to put together so far. It's not perfect, still need a few signings for balance and then it's just adding more quality where we can. Four youth graduates making the squad is brilliant and it's not like they're just making up numbers, they're all good enough to play a part.

Glad am not there, would have neck ache from all the time the ball has been in the air!

Devoid of any quality so far but we're slightly edging it with two decent chances that had last ditch blocks from Morecambe.

Have to say I hope we are not going to rely on lumping it up to Hanson or getting Rose to run in behind all season otherwise it will become predictable quite quickly.

Comedy goal for us, Morecambe failed to play the offside trap for a free kick. We had four players stood on there own around the 6 yard box, everyone stopped including keeper. No whistle went so just a simple tap in for whitehouse

Well wasn't a great spectacle but we won and probably deserved it over the 90.

Two of the easiest goals we will ever score though.

Who looks at the table before game 10 has finished?

Mind you we're only 2 points off where we were after 10 games last season!

Yep he fucking loved it. Was buzzing off that goal you could tell. Nice to see McKeown picking him up after the game and giving him a hug. Clifton was well hyped up too. Great day to get your first. Wright looked like a right handful when he came on too. Not a classic but a quality following. Really great day out.

That first goal Morecambe did exactly the same against us last season at their place! Tried to play the offside trap from our free kick and buggered it up leaving Kay with a tap in and their whole defensive line stood yards behind. Terrible defending!

What a load of shite that was, incredibly poor and predictable. Jim doesn't look like he's learned from the first half of last season playing longball and 1 upfront. It's going to be another long slog of a season if he keeps up with that drivel.

You'll hammer us.

I think you are going to get 'hammered' a few times this season unless you can get some loans in or you have some young, raw talent coming through from your youth set up. A bit more 'fitness' would help too, but that should come over the next few games.

Skip to 8:45 here to see Morecambe’s cheating keeper pretending to be dead to try and get one of ours sent off, hate to see shit like this, pleased that he was out of his goal for our second the fucking cheating bell-end.
