To Luton and Barnsley, fully deserved over the course of the season.

Luton have had a spectacular reincarnation all things considered.

Enjoy it!

Honestly I am in tears right now. This is unbelieveable. No one thought we'd be in this position 12 months ago.

And sincere congratulations to Barnsley too because they've been fantastic all season too. Commiserations also to Portsmouth, Sunderland and Charlton for making it a truly awesome promotion race. Two of those teams at least are going to be seriously unlucky in the play off lottery.

Possibly all 3.

Well done to the 2 promoted teams, and good luck to the 4 play-off teams.

Also best wishes to those teams still in the relegation battle.
Will be a tense weekend down there.

Congrats to both, the 2 best teams I've seen this season by a mile. Especially to Luton - they may not be everyone's cup of tea but we've shared a few battles with them over recent years and their fans were magnanimous in defeat after the Conference playoff final and the journey back from Manchester, plus - in a division where dodgy owners (current or former) abound - their treatment by the so-called football authorities was particularly harsh. Hope both do well in the division above.

The playoffs will be some watch!

Absolutely. I've a lot of respect for Luton and we've been friendly rivals on and off for a few years now. Playing them in our first match in the Conference was the point where I thought that we'd achieved what we set out to do. The Conference playoff win will live long in the memory but as a much bigger club, I'm not surprised that they've finally got their act together and will play 1 - hopefully not 2 - leagues above us next season.

Congratulations also to Barnsley.

Luton fans, despite history in its previous reincarnation, have an immense amount of respect to Wimbledon and the people running that club. Because we know it could’ve been us. Some AFCW fans should do well to remember that we have a common enemy.

I cant speak for others, but its nice to hear the congratulations. We're an easy team to dislike - admittedly sometimes of our own making. Feels good. Really thankful to avoid the playoffs. They're gonna be fun to watch but really didnt wanna play them. Tough teams

Congratulations to both clubs.

No doubt over a tough season, you've both been the most consistent two sides and put some unbelievable results together at the right time.

Luton were comfortably the best side i've seen all season at our place on the opening day (even though we somehow stole a 1-0 win).

Barnsley, despite losing some of your squad in Jan coupled with your in-form striker injured still managed to keep putting results together. Glad for your manager that he gets the last laugh following the Barton incident.

We fully deserved to go up based purely on level of consistency we have shown throughout the season. Felt after the first 4 or 5 games that we had nothing to fear. The fact we have played attractive football scoring a high number of goals is a bonus. I'm sure most Hatters were cautiously optimistic about our chances pre season with a squad capable of challenging especially with the defence sorted. Perhaps the goal this season was a play off spot with a more serious attempt on the autos next season. However we got some momentum going and strengthened the squad in key areas. The general atmosphere around the club both on and off the pitch has helped greatly. Promotion and a new stadium approved. Its unreal.
Barnsley have also showed the level of consistency needed to go up, well done to them. The play offs are about the team with the best current form and perhaps a little luck. Extremely tough to call.

What a final day we have in store.

For sure, if Barnsley better our result today I will be congratulating them for their league championship win as they have been the best team (for me) in the division... I hope this doesn't happen of course.

Around 10,000 people at the open top bus parade today. Felt it was very flat to be honest. Only took place about 16 hours after the game ended the night before and most were still nursing hangovers or hoarse voices. Should've / could've delayed it to the Bank Holiday maybe?

He does seem to have a bit of an ego. Cracking player though.

He’s talented no doubt about it mate, but if you find yourself struggling next season or he’s not getting regular game time you’ll see what I was on about.

Says the media is no longer available but I assume it’s the Moncur video?

If so it’s quite telling of his character which I mentioned when you signed him.

Anyway congrats on the title and we’ll see you upstairs in a few months. :2thumb:
Seem to remember Barnsley fans insisting that he was such a bad character he would bring down Luton's dressing room from within and put pay to our promotion hopes. Then when he started on fire we were assured again that it was just a matter of time before his presence destroyed the team spirit...

Still waiting on that bit I guess

Seriously he does seem a bit of an odd guy with his regular goal celebrations in front of away fans (giving it to the Oxford fans in the third minute when they'd done absolutely nothing to him made him look a bit silly as he admitted in his post match interview). But he's been no problem other than that even when he's had long spells on the bench, I think it must help him being back down south and with the huge number of ex West Ham mates he had in the squad already.

Possibly, but he’s only been there a few months. He was well under contract so it’s pretty obvious his attitude was the reason he was let go, and the fact it was to a promotion rival just points to us not caring where he went so long as it was out of our dressing room.

He could well become a Luton legend but that won’t change the fact he wasn’t a huge success here being mainly down to his wank attitude (and that of his dads too). We’ll see.
