Who are we playing this time? Crawley Town?

For fucks sake another team with no fans that is destined to embarass us once more and no doubt they'll be another team of dirty cheating time wasters like dem Stevenage c***s.

If we dont win this one then Curle has to go Im afraid, sorry but there is something not right.

Thanks for editing the title. I was embarrassed to post in this thread under the previous title. The opening post could do with an edit as well, given how our club has driven so many of its own fans away due to poor management from top to bottom. For us to criticise other clubs support when so many of ours don't turn up to games anymore is cringeworthy.

We should really be looking to win this, but we're way too inconsistent so it could go either way. I've lost most interest in this season already, and I can't see anything changing unless Curle goes.

Rumour has it that Dean Cox has been suspended by the club. No reason why given. Probably asked why he wasn't playing when other who are not as good are.
If we play like we did for the first 30 minutes against Newport we have a chance. If we play like we did in the last 60 minutes I genuinely fear for us.
If Kewell picks our best players we might do something. If Cox is suspended and Bulman sits in the bench again. Forget it.

4000 fans on average for a L2 club having a poor season is not cringeworthy when you get teams like Stevenage taking only 34 away fans to a match and they are having a much better season than us.

That was the worst bit. If we'd not had a midweek game and then lost 2-0 on the following Saturday then at least we'd have been able to bask in the Crewe win for a whole week.

The most disappointing thing for me wasn't the defeat, but how flat the performance was.

A home fixture, 3 days after winning 5-0 away from home, the team should be pumped up raring to go and come out of the traps flying with lots of energy. But no... just flat and lacklustre, you'd think we'd just lost 5-0 not won 5-0. That says a lot about the mentality of this group of players imo. They are weak, which could also explain the capitulations over the second half of the past 2 seasons. They can do something good, but once expectation build up, they don't have the character to carry it through after that, whether that be long term or short term.

I don't believe that, a number of these players have experienced promotion and other successes at other clubs.

Massive 3 points, but disastrous to be losing Parkes for 4 games.

Him and Hill look like a good partnership. A real shame.

Couldn't give a fuck about Bennett being suspended, he's shit. He really is utter dog shite. The longer he's banned the better. I'm just glad his moment of stupidity didn't cost us points

Nice to get the 3 points, but Crawley are a weak team and we should be looking to win these games. Seems Clint Hill has massively improved us defensively. Shame about Parkes' red but agree about Bennett now, waste of money.

Thankfully Hallam Hope's inching towards becoming a striker. I think he'll get there, he just hasn't been used as a striker regularly since being in Everton's youth team so he's a bit behind on his development, but the pieces are there.

As for Bennett. I think it's a mentality thing. He seems to have the correct physical attributes and he's probably one of these players who can do it in training and he certainly knew how to hit the target for Barrow. The defenders at this level may be better but he's still had plenty of chances and the goal is the same size, but he just can't hit it any more, and he seems to just not be sharp enough or react well enough, and now we see this extends to his temperament too. Perhaps loan him out to a Conference team until January and then take another look at him when he returns?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
While i have not seen Bennett maybe it is a case of 'once he gets going' I remember Glenn Murray never fully got going for us and then went to Rochdale and never looked back....or Paddy baddun...or Beckford etc etc........maybe it will take him a few months.

problem for him is the Carlisle crowd usually make a decision in about 3-4 games and if he's crap that will be that.

Well his three game suspension might be doing him a favour as I don't think he'd have been getting much game-time anyway, so now he can go away and work on his game and try to come back better.

There was still potential with Murray that you could see, plus he was what 19/20 when we first signed him? Likewise madden, wells Beckord etc, all young lads with time to develop physically and mentally.

Bennett is 26, so into his best years, het he doesn't know how to hold the ball up, all he can do (or tries to do) is leap to win headers with his back to goal. With no thought or direction on them so they rarely pick out a team mate. He never steps back to take it on his chest or to feet. With his size and physical strength he should be able to do that so we can build our attacks around that. Curle has mentioned that they are trying to coach that into him but he obviously isn't capable. He just doesn't have a football brain to be like the Lee Miller of the team -Or even half the player LM was! And he's too slow and sluggish to be the poacher type.

I'd honestly cut our losses in January if a conference team will take him. There'll be 20 year olds surplus to requirements at championship clubs who we could sign on similar money (Like we did Wyke) and will have better football nouse than that lump.

Your spelling of embarrass is embarrassing.
I suppose you did it on purpose,to give us a little chuckle?

Our displays this season are embarrassing, absolute pony.

Just watched the highlights on Sky. Here is the synopsis to save anyone else from watching it.

0:00 - 0:03 Title card
0:03 - 0:20 First half chances on goal
0:20 - 0:34 Hallam Hope scores early in the second half
0:34 - 0:47 Richie Bennett gets sent off
0:47 - 2:16 Mass brawl in injury time
2:16 - 2:20 Football on Five card

Josh Yorwerth was at the centre of everything negative in the second half, sounds very much like a Paul Hayes / Nick Bailey kind of character. It was Yorwerth that Richie Bennett elbowed for his deserved red card, but BBCRC commentators implied that he wasn't exactly an innocent bystander, he had been looking to push Bennett's buttons all game and Bennett had been wound up by Yorwerth getting away scot-free after a clear foul on Bennett. Then it was Yorwerth again who instigated the fight after having a free kick awarded against him for climbing all over Tom Parkes in the box, then having a cheeky little dig at him after landing on top of him.

Crawley fans both on their forum and also that you can hear at the game seem to be incensed by the 'dirty northern bastards'. At least when a northerner punches you he punches you in the face in full view of everyone and takes what's coming to him instead of needling you in the kidneys and then claiming to be the injured party (the facts that Parkes is a midlander and Yorwerth is Welsh notwithstanding)

At least Hope's goal was a good one, yes not every team will leave him unmarked at the back post but he positioned himself well and took the header well like a striker should.

Our wonderful tactics of starting the game without a striker on the pitch ended up with nil goals. Who'd of thunk it? Mind you the three strikers we have at the club have scored a grand total of one league goal this season.
I was too far away to judge the first sending off but nobody on the Carlisle side argued about it.
The change in tactics that followed lost us any chance of getting something from the game. Don't take your best players off a unless you really have to is a decent maxim.
The punch up hapened right in front of me and was odd. Parkes completely lost it. You could see from his face that all he wanted to do was bury Yorwerth. The red mist was more like a peasouper! Funny thing was the little dig everyone on here is saying didn't really happen. From watching first hand I would have called it a stumble as two players tried to get up. However, I'm a Crawley fan so nobody will believe me but if you want to talk about sly digs how about Clint Hill kicking people on the ground or one of the other players punching Smith in the kidneys?
On a happier note is was good to see Nicky Adams get a round of applause from the Crawley fans when he was substituted. Just because a player leaves to better himself doesn't mean you have to hate him.
