Big one this, if either side wins they should be pretty much safe.

Desperately hoping Doidge is back, hopefully Bennett too.

And so will the losing side. Just saying like.

You seen the league table recently? Hartlepool thought they were safe last season.

Two of the three clubs below us could have the new manager bounce. If we start losing games like this we're well and truly back in the shit.

You seen the league table recently?

Yes I did. Your lot and Crewe are picking up enough points to stay up. Bear in mind that you only lost two games in a row cos you had Accy and Notts, while Crewe were also beaten twice in their last five games, two defeats to top sides just like yourselves.

Relying on the other sides not to pick up enough points is not a good idea, but have you looked at the ppg of Grimsby, Chesterfield and Barnet?

Granted, a win for you lot or Crewe will be priceless, but I still think both sides are staying up regardless of the outcome of this match.

Depends which Crewe turn up, we seem to be a little Jekyll and hyde. Play like Saturday we will struggle to pick another point up but if the team that played vs Lincoln and the 2nd half at Stevenage we stand a chance.

Hope we turn up here though, we owe FGR one, after the soaking us fans got there coupled with a standard Crewe collapse on injury time.

Fancy a few goals on this one

Crewe 2-2 FGR (Bowery, Miller, Doidge 2) 3,088 (102 Vegans)

Yep the weather was awful that day. I genuinely felt for you guys and applauded you for commandeering the almost empty home stand to get out of rain. Only away fans to have done so.

Don't agree with Chris that game is a 6-pointer seasonal decider. Agree with him that losers league position would look bad but not terminal.

Based on the title of the thread i can relax safe in the knowledge that Vale only need 2 points to survive then ? :bl:

Whoever wins will be on 40 points. The projected number needed for safety on the relegation thread post by JJ1532 (a Crewe fan) is 40.

Dodgy title? If you can think of a better one, please feel free to suggest something.

Keeping one eye on this one. It's got the look of a low scoring draw, or a narrow home win. Regardless of the outcome, I am confident that we will be facing each other next season.

1 down ht.

Couldn't make it tonight, but sounds like Crewe deserve it. Bit of a howler by Cam Belford apparently.

Overslept and only caught the last few minutes, verdict seems to be mad selection and non-performance. Right back in the mire.

Comfortable win, should have scored more. We really are very Jekyll and Hyde at the moment. FGR were very poor though, especially the left back and Gunning. As for us I thought Ainley was very good, one of his best games for us, gave the left back a torrid time. Bower was a handful and on the whole we defended fairly well. Probably one more win and I'd say were certain to stay up, but I'm not worried at all anymore.

Well that wasn't very good. Some big calls on team selection, didn't work.

Well done Crewe, should easily get safe from here. We've got work to do.

As I've said before, it's only a mathematical projection based on what Chesterfield will finish on if they maintain the same points per game pace they've managed all season in their last 8 games. They win on Saturday and it all changes.

We deserved to win tonight, FGR were very poor. Should have been 1-0 up before the first, Pickering hit the post, Lowery shot just wide, had numerous dangerous crosses into the box. The goal was a keeper howler, but his defence went missing as well, Bowery was in acres of space.

2nd half, the FGR defence went to pieces, McKirdy missed a sitter, but then Kirk and Bowery scored. Should have gone on to score more, but they got one back and it made us nervous. Still, other than a shot off the bar, they didn't go close again and 3-1 was a fair scoreline. Big 3 points, we keep winning the 6 pointers and that should see us safe. Would be amazing if we can get a win on Saturday, would take a lot of the pressure off the Barnet and Vale games over the Easter period. Still, very pleased with the performance on the whole.

Nothing much else to add except that FGR were poor and Crewe deserved their win.
FGR have a 6 point margin over Chesterfield with a slightly better GD but they have 2 games in hand. Could be scramble by those at bottom to avoid the drop. Games in hand for bottom teams don't tend to convert to points. BUT so far it has been a crazy season, so who knows!

Last day of the season with Rovers playing Grimsby and Chesterfield against Barnet could be interesting, possibly a case of two teams need to win to stay up...don't think my nerves will stand a day like that, might just hide in a dark room and come out after the final whistle!

We had the same scenario in 2014 it was bloody horrific on the last day  Thankfully we survived on goal difference but only by 2 goals. :woo:

We went to Tamworth a few seasons back, with both teams staring relegation in the face, only a really bizarre combination of results would keep both of us in the Conference. Due to a twist of fate, that even the likes of FIFA could not rig, we lost 2-1 and all the other results went our way...strange to have supporters of both teams on the pitch at the end celebrating their good fortune.
