We need to pick ourselves up from the heartbreak of losing to Wycombe for this, the most important game of decade so far for us. Forget League Two, that was a lost cause, it has Luton in it so we were never gonna win that, but we can win something a lot more special and more important, the CUFC league. The only two remaining games in it are our home games against both other teams and we're looking good. If we win this then we win the trophy and will hopefully be parading it around Brunton Park in March when Cambridge visit, Cambridge will have to form a guard of honour for us, it'll be a magical occasion. If we lose or draw then that game becomes a decider, and although I'm sure neutrals would love to see Mr CUFC himself, Jabo Ibehre having the chance to win the league. We'd really like to tie it up this weekend. Colchester are realistically only playing now for honour and the possibility of getting off the bottom of the table but they won't want to see us lift the title in front of them.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz

Our last match was a 4-3 thriller so it looks like our new signings are providing us with goals, there is your proof that things ahead are looking positive.

So don't be pissing us off now Greg with your buzzkill attitude, before our last match I would of agreed but not now after last Saturdays match.

Buzzkill? :fl:

Some buzz this season is panning out to be. I wouldn’t want to kill the buzz that’s being created around CUFC

I promise you Greg, the match this Saturday WILL be exciting. I just have this feeling mate so I hope you're going to it.

Speaking of which, have you been to any games yet this season?

I’m a season ticket holder so yes, almost every home game which explains why I’ve become so bored with it.

think I’ve done 4 aways so far this season which is poor by my usual standards.

It’s been so boring and so shit

Away games have been better... granted I only went to one, and it was Crewe.

It's all over :( Only chance we've got of winning this quite prestigious league is if we beat you lot 2 nil at BP and that's not going to happen.

But hold on a sec, I don't think gd counts now does it? :shifty:

Nothing. I can’t be arsed Zzzzzzzzzzzz

That said, Jamie Devitt is a positive. I’d give him a new contract and let a new manager/coaching team build the team around him in the summer.

He’s a talented player for this level, he’s just been badly let down by incompetent coaching and bad management.

Yeah, GD counts... I'm looking forward to seeing your new manager, when you have one, give a press conference about the upcoming huge name in March for us both.

Thought we played alright for most of the first half... created the best chances in any case then got done over by a fast counter from Colchester, they hadn't really threatened much between the first couple of minutes and that.

Second half we didn't show enough urgency. At half time I thought we were still well in with a chance of winning but our performance dipped and Colchester could just contain us. We carved out one or two chances, ultimately leading to the free kick we equalised from and then for the last ten minutes it was a good game that either side could have won. Lambe improved us when he came on, even though most fans have been on his back for his last few appearances and wanted him dropped. No doubt they'll now be insisting he has to start.

I think it was our midfield yesterday that really let us down. Jones and Etuhu both had poor games and normally midfield is our strongest area and at times in the season we've been able to rely on solid performances from Jones, Joyce and Etuhu. They were off-form today and with Joyce injured and no other proper central midfielders in the squad it's hard to see what we could have done about it.

Football is a game of fine-margins and one or two players being on or off form plus a little bit of luck often makes the difference in the result. We hit the woodwork two or three times, Colchester also hit the woodwork, on another day, without any real difference in overall performance, either team could have won 2 or 3 nil, and there's really not much either manager can do to affect those breaks. I think unless you're Luton or perhaps Accrington this season, and perhaps Barnet and FGR at the other end, then the majority of your results are going to be of this sort. Improving performance as a team increases the odds of getting good results but the difference between a winning side and a losing one is often just the individual performances of one or two key players, errors and moments of inspiration and luck. Last weekend at Wycombe was exactly the same, we were the better team in the second half and a couple of costly errors right at the end turned the match around. Managers can't coach errors out of players who are playing at this level for a reason and it's just unfortunate that sometimes they come two or three in the same game (just ask Shamal George) and that some times you get punished, sometimes you get away with it, and Wycombe punished us.

I say this because as the game (and it was a chore to watch) wore on, the discontent in the stands grew, people were calling for Curle to sort it out, saying he's taken us as far as he can, but it was just hard to think what he or anyone else could do differently in this situation. He has probably assembled as decent a squad as it is possible for any Carlisle manager at this current time to assemble given our financial situation, league standing and of course geographical isolation. But this is a tight division, we're too inconsistent to challenge the top but not poor enough to drop below mid-table and probably most difficult of all, we've been without two of our most game-changing players in Kennedy and Adams for the majority of the season, and will continue to be without them until next season. Add in frequent injuries to Etuhu and Joyce and an inability to find a striker of the quality of Jabo or Wyke and it's amazing we've been able to click at all.

Shite again.

Having Stockton and Bennett as our main options up front is one of the reasons we're not good enough and painful to watch. Jones had a shocker, so many mistakes.

The lack of any sort of reaction at full time sums it all up, fans are quickly losing interest having to watch dire performances like that week after week.

He has probably assembled as decent a squad as it is possible for any Carlisle manager at this current time

Over the last 2 and a bit years he has put together decent squads, but barring the first half of last season he’s failed miserably when it comes to getting the best out of them.

A decent manager and some good coaching could have this group of players much higher up the league.

He has to go in the summer and I’m pretty sure he will. I just hope our useless owners don’t fuck up by hiring some cheap clueless idiot like they did Kavanagh
