Since none of us bothered to create a match thread for CUFC v CUFC round 3, we didn't get to update all the huge CUFC league fans out there about the state of this year's competition.

After somehow dispatching Colchester 4-0, Carlisle find themselves in prime position going into the second half of the season, while Cambridge, who were done and dusted by the end of September are all but out of the contest, requiring results and a turnaround in goal difference if they're to take home the solid gold bust of Jabo that we use as a trophy.

Next up Carlisle visit Colchester on the 23rd of Feb, knowing a win will cap off a highly impressive season, while if the two CUFCs draw then Cambridge will be mathematically out of the running before they even get their chance to respond with Carlisle only needing a further point against Cambridge to secure the title. Should Colchester win then it all comes down to the two games involving Cambridge in March. Once again they're played quick succession, on the 23rd and 30th of March respectively and in those circumstances Cambridge's slim hopes would be alive should they win both, which would see all three teams finish on 6 points.

Here's the table as it stands.
_______________________________________________P__WDL___ FA ___GD___Pts
CUFC that Jabo last played for _______________ 2 _ 2 0 0 __ 6 1 __ +5 ____ 6
CUFC that Jabo played for before that _______ 2 _ 1 0 1 __ 3 4 __ -1 _____ 3
CUFC that Jabo currently plays for ___________ 2 _ 0 0 2 __ 1 5 __ -4 _____ 0

Good work Shoddy, but I say we're still in this. If you lot can put 4 past Col U then so can we :animatedf: Then a nice comfy 3 nil win up at yours and we're up and running.

Actually, never mind. Who would want a gold statue of useless Jabo anyway. It gives me no pleasure in saying that he's been one massive let down this season. I like him I really do, but it seems like he's going all Heskey. He's a striker and scoring goals should be his priority.

I don't think Jabo wants one. Perhaps the idea of having one around the place creeps him out, don't think he's ever actually won the CUFC league.

Maybe we can arrange a CUFC January swap where Jabo and Bennett swap CUFCs

You'll need to save all your Christmas bubble wrap and polystyrene to wrap Jabo in if you want to risk Parcel Force taking him all the way up to Brunton Park. I'm guessing we'll have a couple of Jabo like younger versions coming in soon, so we'd probably be glad to lose his wages. Distance from his young family in East London might be an issue.

Do you think Richie Bennett could do a job at Centre Half? We could probably find a place for him on the bench to chuck on up front or at the back when the aerial battles of Jan/Feb get underway.

Barra would be glad to have him back and pay a bit towards his wages if you're that desperate.

Hmm, I think we have a deal. I see Bennett is on 4 league goals so far while our Jabo is on one I think.

Speaking of Jabo's solitary goal, I don't know how many points he has cost me this year on Moosenet, a prediction league run by a U's fan where U's fans predict the score, attendance and goalscorer. I'm always thinking it's high time Jabo gets another one so I'm always picking him :ffs:

We played him in centre half against Lincoln due to injuries in the squad, and he had possibly his best game in a Carlisle shirt, made Danny Cowley cry. No doubt if he ends up at another League Two side, he'll turn into a twenty goal a season striker, because that's just what happens. *cough, Paddy Madden, Nahki Wells, Glenn Murray, Grant Holt*

I think you were joking, but in case you’re serious... no he won’t. There is zero potential there. He doesn’t possess a single attribute that gives any kind of hope that he can make it at this level.

Those players you mentioned were around 19/20 when they were here. They obviously developed. Bennett is 27 coming up 28. He’s not going to get better, he hasn’t, isn’t and never will be good enough for this level. He’ll end up back in non league. I’m pinning my hopes on Barrow wanting to replace their top scorer loan player with him.
